Every time I attempt to go to the floating island I end up overshooting and find my self in the jaws of a ghost leviathan 😂 every damn time 😂
Go to the other island and set up a portal.

EDIT: IT IS SOUTH WEST-ISH FROM THE LIFE POD AND ABOUT 1240M AWAY! THERE SEEMS TO BE SLIGHT RENDERING ISSUES, IT IS POSSIBLE TO PASS THE ISLAND BECAUSE IT WILL NOT RENDER THE FIRST TIME YOU GO BY IT! IF YOU DO YOU WILL ENTER THE DEAD ZONE EVENTUALLY AND DIE TO A GHOST LEVIATHAN.

I was scared hearing their experience from going to the dead zone because I didn't even have a seamoth since I'm a scared newbie
For people in 2020, the island is 1 tick to the left of SouthWest. If you go straight Southwest you will hit the Deadzone without ever seeing the island. The cloud doesnt exist anymore, so you will need the compass to know which way to go. Good luck

I went a bit to far out and went to the dead zone, I am still new to this and a ghost levithan came up to me and i almost cried

Just keep an eye on your distance and don't go 3000 m out. The island is only 1500 m west southwest of the lifepod. (It helps to check what side of the Aurora you're on.)

I watched in 2020 and couldn't find it. I'm lucky I didn't go to the "Dead Zone"
This island is th same one as the Aurora Rendezvous, So if if you have it, select Aurora Rendezvous on your beacon manager and it should lead you straight to the island

Found it ! Approximately 1184-1203m away from life pod. You will see the back of the wrecked ship in your screen. Ps you dont need to take fall damage for anything on the island. There's walkways for everything if you take a little bit of time. Not much at all though.

Just to help this is still working the islands still there and it about 1240m away from the life pod in the south westernish area try to drive slow to allow it to load

Btw there is a way to get this easier (because your probably gonna enter dead zone) go to the place with a bunch of red grass you will see a couple of caves with purple lighting enter the cave enough and you will see big pink or purple flower looking things creatures go outside of them. Explore the area and your gonna see the multipurpose room, observatory, and scanner room fragments.
That's where I found it!! Just need to bring air tunes with you! And watch out for the jellies 😄

I almost went too far, but then i noticed she was 1000m and i was 1300m, no idea how i didnt see any leviathans.

So glad I watched this video when I did! I collected the pda from the island and was literally about to return to the escape pod area without further island exploration when I decided to look up where to find the room. Thank you!

I swam to the island and it only took me two minutes from where my life pod is placed, I am so excited!!!
I got my seamoth beached and I had to spend thirty minutes hyping myself up to make the sprint back to my base a km away. When I went back to get a Bulbo tree I was petrified with the thought of being attacked by a Reaper despite being at 0m below sea level. I will never be visiting that hellhole again. At least not without a cyclops. Either way. Great video.

This was such a useful video, thank you for putting the time and effort to make this for the Subnautica community.
When you ran out of battery for your fast moving thing and don't feel like making another battery.
For anyone who finds this in the future. There is another closer location. If you can find the coral tube that is sticking out of the water at only one end (not terribly far from the one that has both ends out) go to the east and you will see a small rock being held up by floaters. I call this zero point because its basically suppose to be the middle of the map. Turning south-southeast and progress till you find a red grass area. In this area along the area you just from will be a cave opening. This opening looks like a t or y. This leads down into a Jellyshroom Cave. (Be Careful, Crabsnacks are in this area, and one is normally in the big jellyshroom under this entrance). But whats important here is that there is a Degrasi base build here. You can get the Water Purification Machine (even if you just scan the outside wall), Multipurpose Room, Observatory (the glass room), as well as a few random items laying around the base. Inside there is a few pdas, one in the broken off hatch and one over the hill outside. Inside is also a databox. Be careful of the jellyfish plants, they suck.
You forgot to mention that it is way more dangerous. There is also a radiation right near the cave entrance. And your Seamoth usually
has a 200-m limit at this point of the game so you should swim quickly to the base, scan and swim back.
@@Anton_Danylchenko You are going WAY to far if you hit radition. That spot is not immediately near any radiation. Like yeah if you keep swimming toward the aurora you will hit the radiation but that's a ways away.
What I did was build a tube with a solar panel on top and then build a connector under it down into the cavern and another tub in there. With them connected the lower tub has power and O2. You can try to take this as far down as you want but be warned of the crab snake that can live in that jellyshroom. But it means you can go lower than where your seamoth can get too. But it is Titanium intensive.
@@TheLastSane1 Well. I tell about the exact entrance above the Degasi base. There is a radiation there right near the entrance and on the direct way to it from the base. Anyway it is easier and less risky to visit the island (even without Seamoth) than that Degasi base.
@@Anton_Danylchenko If you go to the Zero Point on the map (Look for the U shaped coral that only has one end standing up out of the water, and then go off to one side toward a floating rock Zero point is over that bit of grass) it is 410M South-South East so right between the two on the compass. That entrance goes straight down over the Degrassi base. There is no radiation ANYWHERE near there as I have just literally swam around there 300 m out in a circle around that base entrance. This is the base at the jellyshroom cave not the deeper ones. I think its just the route you took there. If you need a landmark there is a thermal vent 216M East-Northeast from there if you wanna build a base near a red grass area but want thermal power.
The reason I suggest this is that it is a very quick way to get a lot of higher end gear especially the multipurpose room and the water machine early.
I can't seem to find it, I always end up going to far and landing in the dead zone.
Make sure you're going towards the funny looking cloud. It might not have rendered, try reloading I guess. I had a similar problem but I turned around and went back and it was there.
If you still can’t find it you can always go to the gun island and go through the portal in the mountain and if you don’t have an ion crystal just look inside the alien base

The ship, and everything else in the game remain in the same places from game to game. The position of life pod 5 changes from game to game. Therefore, referencing the position of the Aurora relative to your life pod is valid only for the game in your example.

The Island is a great place to visit early, but you can also get the room from Jellyshroom Caves early on too. Just a tad more dangerous...

So please don’t take what I’m about to say as negative, it’s just some constructive criticism; clouds move so you can’t use them as a reference point when giving directions. Also this game has a compass which you can use to provide much more accurate directions.

Try to head in the general direction then, hopefully you should run into it. If not try to reload or maybe it needs to render.
I got to the island and only the observatory base thing was there. The other two were removed, the lower one being replaced by a outdoor farm plot

Yes, I believe so. People have been finding it recently so I assume so. Just make sure you give it time to render when you head over there or you might go too far and get eaten by a ghost leviathan

I always get to the island by using the signal I get from the Aurora Rendezvous . Dont have to look for no clouds ! But only problem is I have to go around to find a way to actually get to the island
