This takes me back to late June 1998. I was living in Munich at the time, and one night i heard this song on a local FM station, likely 94.5 Fm. I have searched in vain since then to find this song. Thanks for posting!
Trip hop perfectly captures that spirit of a cosmopolitan multicultural city exhausted at night around 3 am when almost all clubs and bars are half emptied and you sit their all by yourself slowly sipping your drink thinking only you are that artsy in this whole town ?
Personally, I just associate this with my provincial years spent in my seaside hometown, and with the occasional trips into a nearby resort town. My closest cosmopolitan multicultural city - I associate that with more modern and less downbeat sounds.

I first heard this song because of my mom who was heavy into trip hop back in the late 90’s. Then heard j dilla remixed it and got excited because I never knew the name of the song so when I finally ran into it, I hooked for a whole month straight playing it over. Then back in 2010 or so, heard Mac Miller make a remix to it and that let me know that my mother was way to ahead of her time with the music shit. Thanks mom you’re fuckin awesome for putting me into some good music back in the days.
@@hexyko4850 i'm not his mother, but back in those days as well as Crustation (the cd costed me quite an arm and a leg, it couldn't be find anywhere !) I was listenig to Krüder and Dorfmeister, Tosca, Hooverphonic, Alpha, Archive...

Purple is the color of royalty because back in ancient times no one could create the color and it took some rare shells to be ground into pigment and only the pharoas were able to source and pay for the color.
New found respect for mac miller. He's not a bad rapper. Has some sick tunes and colabs with flying lotus . And he did a cover of this almost unknown jem of the golden trip hop era. He definitely knows his game
Im looking for another version of this song i used to have on a ministry of sound album. Can anyone tell me if this was a remix of another song? Really love another version of it..

Listen to their song "Hey". It has that late night feeling.

I don’t think Dilla sampled this?
@@4DIVID7 it was actually sampled by Q-tip not Dilla. Definitely hear the Dilla influence tho.

Crazy to think how people will die with never knowing/hearing this song.... such a good fucking track.....
