He actually uses his phone to record small segments that he hums or sings (lalalala) as ideas and then expands on them later on when he wants to write a new song. This is nothing new, other songwriters are doing that as well (I think Loco was doing the same thing in Hyena on the Keyboard), but it's a nice way for him to be revisiting ideas as a songwriter. He's actually done an interview/documentary which is on TH-cam(I think it was for some kind of music magazine....Rolling Stone maybe?!) where he shows how he made Attention and shows his software and all the bits and pieces he did and his thought process into every little detail. I remember he said sth about the bass where you'd be expecting a build up at some point but because that's how normally it's done and it's so common that people expect this, he purposefully had it drop to defy those listeners' expectations and it had a great effect. Go watch it seriously.
