I love Zakharova and Osipova on their most amazing dancing skills.
Though I love Olesya by far the most. She is so elegant and soooooo beautiful!

Идеальные арабески и аттитюды. Прекрасные линии. Браво, Олеся. Наконец-то дали приму. Но она давно прима наших сердец.

She should have been principal after 10 seconds in the theatre

Possibly one of the Mariinsky (soon to be Mikhailovsky) ballerinas I have seen in awhile. I LOVE YOU OLESYA! She is just so solid all the time, and is such a sweet dancer to watch.

I love how her legs are always so perfectly hyperextended and placed perfectly, she definitely beat Zakharova and almost every other dancer who’s done this variation out for being the best..

I love Novikova but what bothers me is this company’s orchestra. The flute parts sound so tone deaf

I think this was a dress rehearsal maybe or a guest performance with a different orchestra. It’s not just the flute, two clarinets also had a bad day 😬😧
Marinski orchestra is usually as perfect as the ballet company

Oh how I miss the day when the great Maestro Viktor Fedotov held the baton. Once the famous dance critic Clement Crisp rightly called him the "Prince of Ballet conductors" . But he is long gone. Today, the orchestra of the Mariinsky loathes to play for ballet...it's because they have to endure the absurdly sluggish tempi that today's classical dancers over-endulge in. The music gets robbed of its power and rhythmic verve, the melodies are less prevalent. One could watch any Mariinsky performance of a classical ballet for an example, but for a particularly apt one that illustrates my point, watch a performance of Vikharev's revival of Petipa's "Le Reveil de Flore". Riccardo Drigo's beautiful, highly melodic, Delibes-ian score is ruined by tempi that is so slow, making the ancient choreography appear more simplistic than it actually is. The orchestra sounds worse.
