The holes are to prevent “sink”
That’s a term used in the molding industry. Sink happens in thick sections of material as the material cools it shrinks and leaves a depression in the finished material. And that can be unsightly.

15:20 You can install a big air duct right in front of the bench where you use the glue and hook it up to a big duct fan that blows the air out of the building. You also can get away with a smaller one if you do the work more closely in front of it.
Maybe one of these aluminum ones hanging from the ceiling. Those can be bent to the right place.
You also need to let the air in somewhere. For this you can just open a window.
I guess a fume hood like in a chem lab would be overkill.

I actually remember when we had several cobblers in our side of town that re-soled our shoes as a kid. It was a 10-minute process that had normally double your shoe life, at least till you were ready for the next size up.

Love this. I'm a subscriber of Trenton and Heath and this came up on my suggested. Heath is a proper silver fox, as a lady of a certain age I think he's damned fine. Loved watching this as Heath is explaining things and answering questions as he's going which adds a different dimension to the craft. I think the other chap in the video needs to adopt the 'assisting surgeon' stance, it's really good for getting in and engaged, also makes you look like you know what's happening even if and when you don't ;-) .
