Seventeen Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto are on the list of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites: "Kyoto illustrates the development of Japanese wooden architecture, particularly religious architecture, and the art of Japanese gardens, which has influenced landscape gardening the world over." I visited Kyoto in September 1996 and was enchanted by the place. I did not want to leave the place! It is a wonderful place. The Japanese are good people, but work too hard! They have an admirable sense of beauty and quality in everything they do. The memory of Kyoto is still fresh in my mind. Thanks a lot for this video.

I went to Kyoto back in 2015 and even 5 years later I miss it every single day. Not to make you feel worse but japan is like 20x better than what you see in videos. It’s one of the most beautiful countries I’ve ever been to. If you ever get the chance to go someday definitely go

Kyoto is absolutely great. I loved it. I had an opportunity to do 8 days in Japan 3 years ago and went to Tokyo, Kyoto, and Hiroshima. Kyoto was the highlight for me. Very beautiful and great mix of old and new. Wish I had a couple more days there.
Derek, next time you come to Japan if you can, take the time to also to visit some destinations off the beaten path.
Sadly recently most of the famous destinations are packed with tourists but with just couple of train stops from main cities you can find true pearls that still let you enjoy the magic of Japan in all its peace and beauty.
