    Hi Mike,
    The 16:1 is for a specific very broad banded antenna known as a T2FD or TTFD.
    The shortest version being the Diamond 330s that I used for about 1 year.
    I used mine in the bands 160m-10m and I am informed it also works on 6m,
    The key to how it works is in the wire wound resister of between 800-1200 ohm.

    I assume that could be done with only three coils to be a 9:1 + 4:1 transformer? So without coil no. 4. In case 16:1 is not needed. 73, OH2KAJ

    Good videos, but room for improvement. 1) the video insert onto the wiring diagram covered part of the diagram....2) what is the power handling capabilities? 3) test results of the build. Thanks for posting!!!

    Hi. Great video. I'm a bit into CB but mostly listen to aircraft using a SDR and old but great AR1500 scanner which was my Dads and I managed, with my basic knowledge, to fix. (Caveat ... I don't really understand what I am doing!) but had a lot of success making flower pot design antennae for listening. Can these be used to transmit on? A CB tuned one would be 5m though, but very light weight (taped to a fishing pole). I have a very old CB (27/81) mag mount which developed a fault I had to fix. I was intrigued by it's design. A whip with a coil at the base with the coax tapped off a few coils up? This seems to me a very simple design to replicate? Obviously reliant on a ground plane (a car). Question 3 ha ha. Have 3 cars, one is an old 96 Camaro ... which has ... fibre glass roof, door skins plastic, bonnet (I'm in UK) metal, hatch metal bumpers plastic. Any ideas on best design for a mobile CB antennae for a plastic car? I'm 60, and learning!

    Do you have a part number, specificatiom, or supplier for the enamelled wire? I have some but I think it's much too thin.

    Great build, thanks for sharing!
    I'm not sure if this is a ridiculous question, but here goes.
    Would it be doable to run two or three different length antennas off of this simultaneously?
    Say a 41' on the 9:1, a 17.5' or 25' on the 4:1 and 11' 8.4" 5/8 wave for 6m on the 16:1?
    Thank you kindly

    N8NK QRP has a couple of videos of multiple taps, which I have made and found useful for end fed wire antenna's.

    *16:1 IS OF NO USE*---Someone told me that a matching transformer above 9:1 is not effective. Is that true? What is the number (AWG) of wire you have used?

    • @mike-M0MSN
      @mike-M0MSN  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well a 49:1 is possible the most used antenna!!!

    • @debojitacharjee
      @debojitacharjee หลายเดือนก่อน

      @mike-M0MSN How you calculated that? Which antenna is using 49:1? That's nit a standard ratio. 16:1 is the maximum used.

      @@mike-M0MSN Hi Mike. Because thay say this is one way to match 600 ohm balanced ladar line, yet no one has done video on it. • @mike-M0MSN
      @mike-M0MSN  ปีที่แล้ว

      Well no, a balun (balanced to unbalanced) unun, (unbalanced to unbalanced) so a EFHW uses a unun and a dipole uses a balun.

  • @garyclark1000

    Pic in Pic blocks the schematic. Schematic shows T200 core but you are using a fair rite type. 3 wires instead of four. I think its time you scrapped this video and started again. It's really unhelpful and can be confusing to some. sorry to be negative your videos are normally top notch.
