- We arrive on Mackinac Island and check in to the Grand Hotel, one of the most famous hotels in the world! After breakfast at the Great Wolf Lodge, we pack up and drive to Mackinac Island, take the ferry over, have some lunch at Seabiscuit Cafe, and then make our way to the incredible Grand Hotel of Mackinac Island!

The decor of the Grand Hotel dates back to the early 1920's by Dorothy Draper, she was a designer considered to be very groundbreaking and innovative. She has said "beige is forever banned from the Grand Hotel". You can see from this fun video that still holds true today. 😉

Had to click immediately. I spent many many childhood weeks on Mackinac Island and specifically in the Grand Hotel. We didn’t have money but my father knew the man who ran public relations for the Grand and the Island. He would give us free rooms, free dinners, it was ridiculous! Whenever we had dinner with him the meal was comp’ed. My brother and I would bike around the island during the day, have picnics in the old cemetery (the Grand used to offer pack lunches), visit the old fort. Looking back it was very very special. We were so blessed. No air conditioning. No tvs. Suit and tie after 4 pm. That was the way they used to run the Grand.
Ok but watching Tyler dance with Gigi had me weeping, how precious. Same with you caring felicity and dancing with Gigi, what a sweet little clip to have for your memories 🥰
Ok, let's just say it: Jess and Tyler are hawt AF. (I mean that in a wholesome way, not in a creepy way.). What a beautiful couple inside and out! Smart, funny, kind, compassionate and gorgeous. I mean, what's not to love! Love you guys! XOXO

LOVE Macinac Island! Your family is beautiful. I used to watch your disney content. Tyler look up Dorothy Draper and Carlton Varney for the Grand decor. So lovely and a nice segway to the Greenbriar. The Grand is so timeless and an American treasure!

Love love Michigan, that’s where my daughter lives, we love it there. I’m with everyone, brought tears to my eyes watching Tyler dancing with Gigi, what precious memories you all are creating. My dad left us when I was 8 years old, would have loved to have memories like that. Bless you all. Now Tyler I’m 69 and my dress up days are over, at your age we did dress up all the time but now at our retired age I just want to go where I can wear flip flops, shirt and shorts.🤣🤣. We just returned from Mackinac. It has a special place in my heart because I worked there one summer. And so funny because my 5 year old did the same build a bear and outfit at GWL this summer- but in Gurnee, IL. I love northern Michigan so much!!
Thank you for keeping me company on this Tuesday evening! Traveling with little ones is not for the weak. I remember those days. We had three lil stair step ladies. I’m exhausted just watching you guys, however I had to stop and think, “you did it too”. Somehow it just works out. Blessings to your beautiful family!

Canadian here - Mackinac Island is around the midway point between northern & southern Ontario so the weather you described is on par with Canadian springs.
The decor reminds me of the decor at The Greenbrier also know as, America’s Resort in White Sulphur Springs, WV. Dorothy Draper was the interior designer. There’s a lot of history there. I think you all would really enjoy it.
I love the way you talk about Traverse City. It’s my home - we live on the Leelanau peninsula and it’s truly the best place!
I got so excited when I realized I was about to hear GiGi say, “CHAWCWIT!” Was my favorite part of Vlogmas too!!!❤❤❤

I went to Traverse City once and went to SO many wineries (including that one you showed) and they are all so good, and some of them have such beautiful views! Highly recommend. Can't wait to go again!

I loved seeing you all dancing and having fun. I agree with you on dressing up. I love to get dressed up but it seems like it’s an uncommon thing these days even at things that it used to be a must like theatre. I’ll continue to dress up because I enjoy it and it makes me feel good and makes the occasion feel even more special!
Love Traverse City. My grandparents lived there and grew up going there. Such a special place. Also, Tyler and Gigi dancing..
Where did they live in town? I spent my summers on Lake Leelanau about 45 minutes from downtown Traverse. If you don’t answer for privacy reasons I get it.
The bugs there at the time were actually “midges” if you look up “mayflys” they are much more terrifying looking but equally harmless. ☺️ Unfortunately we get them both seasonally near Lake Erie in Ohio.

Awe my favorite part of the video was when Gigi was dancing it was so cute!! Both the girls are precious. I have been watching since before y’all had kids I have loved watching y’all grow so much. My daughter is 24. Enjoy the girls being little it goes by so fast.
Beautiful videos of u all dancing. I recently contacted my dad after not speaking for 12 years. I was only around him for ages 13-16 so I missed out on the dad and daughter things. It was precious seeing it
My boyfriend's family is obsessed with Mackinac Island and goes there multiple times a year. His sister got married at Mission Point and so we stayed there (which was lovely btw). We were there in late-May early-June and the bugs are no joke. In our first hotel room there was an issue with the seal of the window ac unit and the bugs were getting in, but I figured we'd talk to the front desk in the morning. That is, until I put a glass of water in the nightstand and then ten minutes later there were at least 15 flies in it. I called the front desk. I was super nice about it, but I could not stay in that room.
They upgraded us to another room which had an ac unit that wasn't in the window and no bugs lol
A few Mackinac pro tips from his family:
1. Doesn't matter what hotel you stay in, they will bring your bags to the hotel. When you check them at the ferry they ask where to take them.
2. They charge to go on the porch of the grand hotel, but not to explore the gardens. If you start in the gardens you can walk across the lawn and up onto the porch for free.
3. The general store on the Island is surprisingly well stocked.

Next time you go up to northern Michigan (my in-laws live right by Frankfort) go to Crystal Mountain in the summer, they have a really cool Alpine slide down the ski mountain, GiGi will love it!
