I think that his program got closer to Richard's spirit more than any other documentary I've seen - due in no small part that it was filmed in the Welsh language - Richard's mother tongue.
Mi fydd Cymru o hyd yn falch ohonot 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿❤️

While most other actors of his generation have gradually faded into relative or even total obscurity, Richard Burton remains to fascinate one generation after another, his power undiminished with the passing of the years. A truly gifted man who left behind many great performances for us to enjoy.

Beautiful and touching documentary. Sensitively handled. I have always felt the raw sadness of Richard Burton, such an incredible actor. Shame on the Academy for his seven nominations and no wins. He was an incredible actor. I am so glad to see Richard Harrington, an equally moody, intelligent and beautiful actor. Thank you. Diolch.

Powerful... don't follow a path already travelled life's a journey for your feet to travel, follow yours we all have those we aspire to be or to have just had a conversation with, life is a fleeting gift

His interviews are more fascinating than most of his movies, I'm afraid. He did a lot of crummy movies (for cash, no doubt. Hey, we all have bills to pay!}. I could listen to him chat for hours. BUT, his role as George (to Elizabeth Taylor's Martha) in Virginia Woolf was a tour de force, devastating in its portrayal of domestic rage and heartbreak. If he did nothing else, he'd still be remembered today for that one performance.

Fascinating documentary and insights. When I think of the GREAT, - the truly GREAT, LARGER-THAN-LIFE lives of the 20th Century, I think first of Burton, Sinatra, Orson Welles, and perhaps a few others you might care to add. Burton was a magnificent, brilliant, tormented genius who could certainly PLAY the poet, ... but could not write as one as he greatly desired. but let this be said: HE LIVED the life of a poet. with the whole world as his stage.

two things, I think it is clear, tormented Richard above all else: betraying his wife, Sybil. she never spoke to him again after Elizabeth. she was utterly brokenhearted, and he knew it. ... and the tragic death of his elder brother. then there were all the other broken relationships, ... especially the on and off again love and passion between Elizabeth and himself.
he was also a man with great faith in himself and his destiny. ... but no faith or real understanding of GOD. - this is always a cause for despair.

@@leonardohummel8658 Absolutely. I am a lifelong devotee of Richard Burton. Saw him many times on Broadway. There was a world weariness about him. I remember reading how he said he believed in Elizabeth Taylor (as opposed to anything else), and then in later years wrote she bored him, something he would have never thought possible years before. He understood the passing of time, the fleeting glory of fame and fortune and youth and beauty. He knew the clock was ticking and as on top of the world he was one day, the next he could be in the cemetary and that would be the end of his wild ride. He needed God and I think if he had opened up his heart to Him, would have been a happy man to know that yes, a glorious eternal life was within his reach.

@@christinescheiner5194 Yes. You see him clearly. He was a bold, brave, and broken character. A remarkable character and character actor,...we can only hope he found GOD & His peace in the end.

Alcoholism and depression are two terrible diseases. To find himself alone, far from family after his brother died and his relationship had ended must have felt like the end.

Bufton certainly earned at least 3 academy awards out of the 7 nominated OPPORTUNITIES.....Richard Burton not receiving any Academy Award will always be an igly chapter in Hollywood history.....he was a BRILLIANT actor......mighty handsome.....and so gifted with his eye expression and beautiful masculine deep voice!! The politics in the academy award show has got to stop......Hopefully Richard Burton will be awarded an academy award post his death.......somehow the old academy farts are jealous of his good looks and gifted talents....may ge rest in peace.
