It's mostly because the show had a new duel basically every episode, sometimes two, while the other series tended to have 3 or 4 parters for a single big battle.

But yeah Martha was mvp mom and in general I liked the ending of 5ds the most since it didn't just end but show our cast growing up. Made me cry last time I saw it as I'm much older now.

@@aapowarjovaara1865 In the anime there's a brief cut when Darkness is eliminating everyone where it shows the roster for KaibaCorp. Names disappear one by one until only Kaiba remains, HOWEVER, his name never disappears. Which does mean that, at the very least, Kaiba was not defeated at that time.

@@timothyuchiha2842 Well yes but actually no and no but actually yes. Atem can will whatever card he needs/wants to the top of his deck but so can Jaden. And Jaden has multiple severely broken cards but Atem has the God cards. And they only had that one duel (which although more than likely Jaden lost, was still undetermined) but it has been shown that rematches show different outcomes. Personally, I think Jaden has more power to win than Atem but he can't use 100% of it in a single/multiple duels so Atem can beat him.

@@user-pl9yq3fc8u Logically it would brick but Jaden's luck has been shown to be equal or debatably more to Joey's. But the same could be said for Atem. His deck has no good flow. It was literally built at a time when you just meshed cards together except for like a few that actually worked well with one another and hoped for the best.

I thought of an alternative idea for making an overall evaluation of the 2 sets of statistics combined. You can convert every duel score to a percentage of the best duel score, then both stats are percentages, and you can add them together. It's like grading on a curve, but Jack Atlas's score is a curve-ruining outlier, so I think I'd pick Jaden's duel score as the reference point that equates to 100% duel score. That would make the overall ordering:

This factors in the magnitude of the differences between the rankings more. This math is like evaluating it saying your duel score compared to Jaden Yuki's has the same importance as your win percentage.

Who knows.. Maybe they'll make another movie or miniseries where Tea wins with a non-trash deck? Basically saying "yes, we realize her score is perfect. So we decided to give her a massive upgrade to make her perfect score make a bit more sense".
It probably won't happen, but I wish it did. It's not Tea's fault that she appeared in the original series before Fairy types became good.

I love Jack Atlas as a character. He's so entertaining to watch, and I love the aesthetic of the Red Dragon Archfiend and it's evolutions. That's why it pains me so much that his deck is ABSOLUTE GARBAGE IRL. Then again... maybe the fact that he can win so much with such a bad deck is proof that he's the best lol

Seriously, the guy runs an unholy combination of warrior, fiends, dragons and even rock monsters that have almost no common theme or synergy with each other save for a few cards in a vacuum like vice dragon and strong wind dragon, or the resonator archetype. It's so bad that even in by 2010 standards if you tried to build a deck with only the cards that he used in the anime you'll get stomped 9 times out of 10 lol

@@CarDaMax1770 I tried making an anime Jack deck work and it was very inconsistent. Red Screen and Fiendish Chain are still good IMO and he also has Megamorph and as you mentioned Battle Fader and Strong Wing Dragon.
In the 5D's era of protect the boss monster Vice Dragon + Dark Resonator kinda worked. Konami still needs to release Dimension Switch and Gear Changer.
At least Arc V Jack's 'Red' cards gave his deck some kind of consistency. I will say that despite his deck being subpar, Jack's intensity always made him a fun character to watch. It was awesome seeing him again in ARC V.
Also of note: GX had basically 4 quality duelists playing 75-80% of their duels, while 5D's had two quality characters playing the same percentage, so I think 5D's is hurt by its smaller episode count and having so much of its duels running through Yusei and Jack.

@@Deathmare235 Dark Zane was one of the best duelist and was easily better than regular Zane, his loss against yubel was at his end when he began to respect his cards once more and Syrus was only better than zane because he was wheelchair bound and left weak due to his lack of respect of the cyberdark cards, but if you pinned Season one Zane (regular) vs Dark Zane (in his prime, which would be between his battle with Sheppard and Atticus) Dark Zane would win easily
@@UmamiWave honestly Cyber dragons have so much OTK potentional in themselves that i dont think cyrus could ever be better than zane lets be honest here. His loss against Aster was kind of bogus and camula was a forfeit so in my eyes he only lost once in the series

Kurosaki Shun(Shay Obsidian) has 30 duels on and off-screen and tag or solo, out of it he wow 24 times, 0 draws, 4 loses, 1 undefined, so a 80% win ratio, so he would be on 19th with AI and 68 points on 13th place between Kaiba and Shark. With his tiers he produce 11 points for Arc-V.

Wanted Yusei to be the statistically best so bad since he is my favorite MC out of all of them. 5D's in general was my favorite so glad it was at least top 3.
To be fair, Joey chose to duel only the best opponents. Most of which were more experienced than him, and a few times his opponents cheated.

Apparently academy Island is more effective than most people give it credit for. The one thing that does make these comparisons a little more complicated is that these shows didn't always have the same number of seasons with the lowest being Zexal at 3 and the highest being the original Duel Monsters at 5. Since a lot of season 5 weren't traditional duels and TGS didn't count any of the filler duels in said season and season 3 it is safe to say that GX actually has a natural advantage over the other shows because it has 4 seasons full of viable duels. This makes it even more impressive that Arc-V was able to get so close with only 3 seasons

To counter duelists who have a 100% win rate due to winning and playing only one duel, you can calculate the win percentage as if each character had one extra loss.
Don't underestimate Brave Max. During the time he was stuck in Vrains by Bohman and was unable to log out, he trained solo and became Kirito 2.0

I must admit I was slightly biased in hoping the GX characters did well. Awesome list! And in terms of number one I'd love to see Zane up there. Completely biased but he's one of me favourite characters

It makes sense that GX characters tops the Duel Scores (and overall as a series), since GX is the second longest series, but has the most duels, since DM had the Egypt saga, which had only 3 duels.
However, I think that Jack's tops the Duel Scores is bit unfair, since he is also in ARC V, and Jack of 5D's and ARC V are not the same character as far I remember.

That was fun, but just wanted to add something, when we talk about the best villains and most powerful they can’t have many wins, because the stakes are to high so if they win it’s like too much, so I think statistically they always get snubbed. Like Yuma when he has Astral, like he didn’t had any L’s I think, otherwise he would lose Astral. Or like Fon Thousand, Vector, The Darkness, Z-One, Rex Goodwin they can’t have many win otherwise it’s the end basically. (Awesome video tho!!)
There's a similar issue, I feel, with series length. I agree that the number of duels a character engages in should count towards their merit as a duelist, but it's less fair to those from a shorter show when they didn't have as much to work with. Considering DM was almost twice as long as Vrains, I feel that they (and GX, maybe) should be weighted a little differently to account for the episode gap between them and the other shows.

Got to say I'm loving these statistic videos, keep up the good work.
As for my personal favorite series, well that for me is also where my duelist tie comes from: YuGiOh 5Ds with Yusei Fudo and Akiza Izinski. Don't honestly know why, the show and pair just work form me.
And with those said, a suggestion for the scoring system came to mind as I was watching all of these.
Why not add Win and Lose Streak bonuses? With the streaks adding 2 points for their respective scorings. So after or on the third win it would go from +3 to +5 for each subsequent win as they're now on a win streak that doesn't end until they Draw, Lose or Retire, and increase the loss scoring from -1 to -2 by default so the increase would now go from -2 to -4.
And Draws just don't give points unless it's the goal of the duel to begin with, or is made the goal at some point in the duel. Basically normal accidental Draws 0p to Intentional Draws 1p, as I imagine it's harder to Draw when you're actually actively trying to force one and your opponent is trying to stop you, or is disrupting your attempts through their normal play.
I feel like this would make the statistics a little more fun/competitive as now their are larger gains and losses for each character, rewarding characters with strong, consistent, duel abilities by giving them really commanding leads they've earned and royally dusting characters who lose all the time and or have really high loss rates.
Just I thought I had, not really sure if it's a good, bad, or redundant idea. Probably somehow all three.

I wish he separated yugi muto and yami yugi into individuals dueling scores
Solomon Gebremariam well they dueled together except for two times when they dueled each other. And in said duels they both won and lost anyways so it would be the same score

Honestly Mai Valentine could have been a B tier instead of a D tier. Because most of the duels she lost in the anime is because she did it on purpose! For example against tea she let her win on purpose ! Even for a duel against yugi she let him win because he was depressed and sad about dueling. Other wise she would of won those duels and therefore her results would of been better!
My faveorite duelist from each series are marik. Aster. Yusei kite Yuri and revolver. For each series. They are just enjoyable duelist in series

In the Rival Video, if you check the comments, TGS says that he made an error and that Revolver's win percentage was 66.67% not 50% like how he originally claimed. Kind of sad he forgot about that in this video. That alone changes up the rankings as Revolver's win percentage would put him in C tier at 23rd place not 31st place. So at the end of the video, VRAINS might have been higher amongst the other series.
Yugioh GX was the series where people were learning to play high level Duel Monsters, not sure of the other series after 5Ds but I'm pretty sure the other series were more street duels(somewhat literally in at least one series) and Tournaments.

For real. The only two duelist that can literally change the outcome of a duel and their own destiny respectively, but yet they aren’t the best duelists

I have one complaint... where the hell was Leo from 5d’s?!!! He’s one of the most important characters with lots of screen time and about the same number of duels as Luna, plus he develops to become a signer at the end, ya know, that super important thing the whole series was based on! How could you not use him? If he were real, he would be so sad right now. Probably would cry. How could you do that to a fictional child?
On a cheerier note, anyone else imagining how Jack Atlas would react if he were told he was statistically the best duellist out of every series? Dude would be so secretly happy, but I’m not sure the world could take how much ego he would exude. (5d’s is my favourite series 😊)
