All my magpie friends like hanging upside down from the washing. Seems to be a universal silly, adorable magpie trait. I’ve got a photo of one my baby mags hanging upside down from my bra on the washing line. Sooo funny😂
They're very young magpies, probably their first year out of the nest. You can tell by the colour of their feathers. If they still have those grey coloured feathers on their chest and back, they are adolescent. Hence the 'piss-farting' around, as opposed to hunting and providing for the family. LOL!
One of the most amazing things ever to happen to me was when a magpie , one of a group i regularly fed , landed within 3 meters from me and proceeded to give me a rendition of what must have been every call , every noise it could make , what blew me away was that it was just loud enough for me to hear and none else , to this day i do not know why i didn`t pull the phone out and record it , probably as i was so astounded and shocked at the diversity this bird displayed just for me
Yes. I had a Male maggie who used to sit in the tree near my gate at my old rental unit and he would sing and mimick Masked Lapwings, Mudlarks, Kookaburras, Willie Wagtails and Currawongs............god knows why?
How FUNNY!! I saw a magpie today hanging upside down from a tree branch, so I Googled to see if that's just them being silly, and here's your video. Loved it! By the way, I'm in British Columbia in Canada, and there are tons here! I just moved here from eastern Canada where magpies are nowhere to be seen, so I'm just loving my new outdoor birds. I could watch them all day. :D
I believe the Magpies have seen the Grey fruit bats of Victoria hanging upside down in trees and they are imitating them...........Maggies mimick other birds verbally so why not physically as well?
I'm blessed to have a whole yard full of hilarious pigeons and great tail Grackles (they're corvids and close relatives to magpies) but I have never in my life seen anything even close to these characters. This is Moe, Larry, and Curly, reincarnated with wings and feathers.
@@grantm6514 2 years ago I’d have agreed with you but currently England and Australia are struggling to find the right way up. We definitely need to follow Aus magpies way of life x
While watching this I was reminded of a thing we'd do as kids that would give us head-spins to the point of nearly or actually passing out. Hanging upside-down has a similar effect on the brain. My theory is one of the young ones (no pun referencing that series) figured out how to get high by hanging upside-down. You can see how disoriented bird is when it finally loses its grip. That's pretty cool. Kids do what kids do.
About twenty years ago I was out of the country for five years, I didn't miss the football, or the food, or the coffee, I sure as hell didn't miss John Howard and I didn't even miss the weather all that much, what I really missed was the warble of magpies, the one that says, "Everything's okay, no stress". I had no idea how deep that sound reached into me, how healing it is.
quietknight I bet he didn’t miss you either. I suppose you are one of those loony lefties that just have to turn everything into a political statement. Good riddance to you!
You know what, I have a theory. I reckon these Magpies have seen Grey bats hanging upside down in trees and their mimicking them. Magpies mimick other birds verbally but it wouldn't suprise me that they are imitating the Grey fruit bats of Victoria.
Love it they do the same where I live feed them and they will never swoop you they Wii sit on my leg for a feed of mince and when they start To sing just majic
I HAVE NEVER IN MY LIFE BEEN SWOOPED BY ANY BIRDS. NOT AS A CHILD NOR AS AN OLD ADULT. THE BIRDS NEAR ME ARE FRIENDLY AND SING TO ME. WHEN I GO OUT THEY SOMETIMES FLY OVER ME OR IN FRONT OF ME TO LET ME KNOW THEY ARE THERE. ALL BREEDS OF BIRDS AROUND HERE ARE PLEASANT BIRDS. I LIKE THEM. BUT I WOULDNT LIKE THEM IF THEY EVER SWOOPED ME.
@@HackedUpForBarbeque The vet. said to feed them soaked cat kibble as it has more nutrients, is better value & they love it. In bowl with a lid, you place 1/3 kibble & 2/3 cold water & leave a bit of room before putting the lid on to allow for expansion. It takes 2-3 hours or so to soften. Too much water will make it mushy. My maggies would line up across the back fence & I threw it to them & they would catch it. When they became more trusting they would take it from my hand & hang around each day waiting for their snacks.
Dont have magpies where I am. Absolutely love them and lucky you.could spend hours with them. So intelligent, the others seem concerned for the welfare of the hanging bird. Love the sounds. You are all lucky!!! Crows I feed (ungrateful brats) don't let me near. 💜💜💜💜💜
feed them whole raw eggs once they get used to that it's fun to watch how they deal with them,,,,i often put one on the ground may take 2--3 days for them
Magpies are amazing birds. They look like little miniraptors back in the days. I'm pretty sure that - given a chance - they may evolve into next terror birds.

What could be more Australian than the magpie kids playing and swinging from the Hills Hoist.
They know a good time when they see it.

Sounds made up.
Animals doing something for no other reason than it's fun. Very cool.
When one spikes the ground beak first I laughed 😅
I have now seen a very intelligent bird do a face-plant. I can die happy. Thank you, internet.
i saw that! never good to get too smart. and they should be at school getting a little dumber.. we dont need no education..
😂😂😂😂 Love it 🥰🥰🥰

Lol, I've seen mum and dad feeding, talking to each other then suddenly have a "domestic", then go back to being love bugs! Hilarious.
I love watching them play wrestle with each other. It's bloody hilarious lol.
So very funny. They are such characters.
The way these beautiful birds play shows they are smarter than we know.
what are you doing mags? oh you know just gettin' the hang of it .. or into the swing of things :)

"Ohh y'know. Just hanging around i guess..."
Looks like they are having a really good time. Awesome, beautiful birds. So clever too.

The other birds are funny ... they look like they're saying, "Hey get down, it's _my_ turn!"
They actually are saying that lol.
Such beautiful innocent creatures
1:14 "but what are you doing?" 😂
"Дорогая, спортом занимаюсь" )
" Stop it Henry, your always embarrising me, i can't take you anywhere 😞 Henry James, get off that towell " bahahahahaha...
I love their calls!! So melodyus!!!

I adore the one hanging upside down! He is like a kid!
It is. They are juveniles.
"I am Draaacula,blah"
"You're an idiot"
No need to iron when the Magpies are so good at stretching out the laundry!
"Get down from there, Hank. You're making us look like fools...!"
These guys are so funny. It's relaxing to watch them.
They are such amusing birds, and amazing singers. I love your videos
Nature can provide some fantastic entertainment naturally and we have to do is sit back and enjoy the moment.
The Magpie hanging upside down off the towel is quite a character - he / she loves a Bat style, upside down workout.
Magic! 3 chose me 3/4 years ago... i have 9 today. They are my mornings and my nights. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉
HAPPY NEW YEAR BEAUTIFULS🎉
Hilarious yet beautiful to see the magic they bring. Thank you
I love mags got funny personality
Too sweet to be true! I love the birds, so much and wish I had few at my house.
My favourite bird song and characters in the bird world.😊
I’m definitely coming back as an Australian magpie... too much fun! English magpies are v intelligent but lack the antipodean sense of humour x
England is the right way up, so the mags there don't have to compensate like the Aus ones do.
@@grantm6514 2 years ago I’d have agreed with you but currently England and Australia are struggling to find the right way up. We definitely need to follow Aus magpies way of life x
well put what a crazy time of regulatory capture by big pharma @@lucieni
Pretty sure they are communicating in a complex way by the sound of it. Almost sounds like old school modem.
Hilarious! They feel so disturbed by someone being "different "...just like people 😁
The one in the middle of the video is trying to do acrobation, meditation and eating at the same time. 🤣🤣🤪
I love ALL your videos and I love maggies
Are those magpies singing in the background? Couldn't be further from the ones living in Europe :0
They are very different birds. Simply a case of English settlers applying a familiar name to a vaguely similar creature.
Oh makes sense, thanks

These are juveniles, so like all kids, love to play. Love them, i have heaps come into my yard every day.
Baby magpies are so fun to watch!
Fun-loving birds!
"dammit Henry, get down of there before you hurt yourself!"
" eh eh bat goes brr"
magpies must be REALLY REALLY bored animals... lol
even birds can be dorks

Mince is no good for birds. It can get stuck to their beaks and start to rot. Strips of meat are better.

I assume they are doing this for fun but why is it there's always one that bothers the upside down bird?
For fun too, haha!
They look like juveniles and likely just siblings playing. I’ve seen families of them with the kids all wrestling like puppies
It wants it's turn to swing on the towel.
Сороки очаровательны)
newver mind i saw it later in the video xD
Feathered larrickins, mate.
❤
My fave birds....
Awesome, thank you:)
Circue du soleil
Batmagpies! 😊
Funny buggers
elles font de la gymnastique 😀😀😀😀👀👍🗼
Educate kids not to throw rocks, sticks, whatever at magpies, because this is the reason why some of these magpies perceive humans to be a threat
Hold my beer, mate. Lemme show you the down under point of view.
the Batman!
Funny that not hanging around birds don't understand what's going on.
