- This speedrun was performed live at the Australian Speedruns Marathon in 2019.
Happy to finally after all these years, do a marathon run of Gen 1 Glitchless. Really enjoy doing live marathon runs, is obviously a very different feeling as I end up commentating the whole time, and given Gen 1 Glitchless is where it all started for me, felt prudent to have one done.

The starter pikachu in pokemon yellow is a lot stronger than a normal pikachu and it is a good pokemon plus just get a light orb

if you watch gdq and other speedrun events they always have commentary of why they do certain things and how they speedrun the game

the only difference when he speedruns normally at home vs for a convention lol also no 5 hour plus game after speedrun
So much nicer than any GDQ run. Not having to hear the audience screeching and clapping every 25 seconds is really great.
Not having to hear them scream "HOOOYYYYYYYYYPE" is so much better.

His AGQQ2014 was perfect though. And a time capsule of perfect GDQ status: Trihex next to him, great commentary all around, packed room(but still pretty quiet/respectful), fuckin Blueglass...And not a room so huge you don't even know who the fuck is who at any given time. That's a timecapsule of (X)GDQ at its best. *Sigh*...

Funny that Werster says around 1:38:00 that he replayed these games a bunch of times even as a kid... when I was a kid, my save file was sacred. The idea of deleting it to start a new file was something that wouldn't even have occured to me. He's got run-based gaming in his blood

Ha, it’s the same with me as it is with you guys. I bought Sapphire to go along with Ruby in gen 3, and that became the cartridge where I could play frivolously and restart it.

Apparently Lorelei's AI was specifically changed in order to prevent soft-locking that could occur in Blue/Red. Take a fighting type with only Rage too weak to take down Lorelei's Dewgong, save in Lorelei's room, fight Lorelei, press Rage, Dewgong uses Rest on repeat because of Gen 1 AI and no PP usage... you could never win.
Very specific instance, but theoretically possible for somebody to stumble into and break the game. By giving Lorelei that specific AI, it would allow Dewgong to KO that Pokemon instead and break the soft lock.
Your knowledge on these game makes your run and the commentary so interresting, keep up the good work man !

The whole Marowak ghost Poke doll thing isn't considered a glitch? I can feel the word "exploit" being summoned but really what quantifies differently than a glitch?
