Well I decided to follow the saying of staying committed to my ideas and I finally started my first real project car at age 16. I decided to make a Civic into a pickup truck, I’m going to be custom fabricating the entire cab and bed plus doing engine and body repair to make the car look mint. I have had the idea around for a while but since the committed crew came around every time I thought of the project and finally last week I caved and got started. Really thankful for having that positive influence and hope to keep enjoying it in the future!

Popping out of reverse could be shift linkage, synchros or fluid.

Maybe misadjusted shift linkage? When the new motor mounts were installed maybe it moved enough to need adjustment. It almost sound like the synchro is half engaging because the linkage doesn’t push it all the way until the car moves enough to pop all the way into gear.

I feel like that wing is more trouble than it's worth. I also wonder if it'll flex the roof sheet metal if it gets some downforce on it

Probably not, most hatchback wings are roof mounted as well, not just civics either, even smaller wings usually use it for extra stability but are more optional than this one's.
