The BEST Vietnamese PHO Recipe
The Meats:
2 small tendon
1 big hunk of brisket
3 lbs of beef rib
4 lbs of beef bone
Boil 20 minutes, then dump off all that gunk. Rinse the pot and meats.
Aromatics:
1/2 cup of coriander
1 cinnamon stick
3 star anise
1 cardamon pod
Toast for 5 minutes. Don't burn it 😒
3 big onion
6 huge slices of ginger
Char it on the stove top (don't do that. Broil it).
1 piece of rock sugar
To the pot:
Add rinsed meats, 20 quarts of water, charred onions & ginger, rock sugar, toasted aromatics, 1 cup of dried shrimpies, 1 cups of fiss/fish sauce & 3 tablespoons of salt.
Blast the heat until broth is at a rolling boil. Drop the heat to a medium low. Let it sit for 12 hours. After 6-7 hours take out the brisket, let it cool and throw into the fridge. After 12 hours, skim the fat off the broth and strain the little bits out. Reheat the magical broth. Thinly slice the brisket. Slice beef meatballs in half. Add beef bones back into broth.
Toppings:
Raw, thinly sliced ribeye or roundeye
Bean sprouts
Thai basil
Sliced meatballs
Brisket
Raw onion
Lime
Cilantro
Green onion
Add 1 extra cup of water to the broth. His cup is better than your cup.
Drop meatballs into the pool. Don't have to swim, just gotta get in.
Boil banh pho tuoi/fresh rice stick noodle, for 5 seconds. Not too much noodle, it expands in the pho.
Assemble:
Fresh noodles into the bowl, stack of raw onions, brisket on the side, raw beef, 2 meatballs, 1 meaty beef bone/rib, mom ate the tendon so forget about it. Add broth, green onion & cilantro.
Taste. Quick time. Be super pumped for this. Add Thai basil, lime, sriracha & hoisin not poision. A moment of silence while you mix the extra toppings into the pho. Nibble on a fresh red chili pepper as you eat (sliced jalapeño is an acceptable replacement). Remember that you forgot to add tripe. Realize you are consuming pure gold. Next time, consider msg.
Peace out ✋
Wow appreciation!!!
Wow
If you let the pot simmer for 12 hours on med low heat, the fat won't be solidified at the end of 12 hours as it's still hot. Pretty sure he skipped a step to let the broth cool completely before the straining part.
@@patrickho9320 I agree, however, I typed this up according to his instruction.
Edit to add that maybe it solidified, due to being cooked outside for those 12 hours. I bet that would speed up the cooling process, with all that snow around!
Lol respectttt
Quangs logic: Goes to Vietnam and orders Pizza, Burgers, Fried Chicken and all sorts of western food, comes back to Canada and eats Pho
Debbie Youngberg the places u can eat local food in Vietnam, not exactly the most sanitary. Getting sick is not uncommon. At least in a fast food joint there’s some kind of standard.
He said he ate a lot of Vietnamese food and would get tired of it so he ate western food
Genius!
half_lifemozzy it’s not that places are “sanitary” it’s mostly because your body isn’t used to the ingredients and water from another country, I was born in Vietnam and move to the U.s when I was young and my first few meals I threw up and everything made me nauseous as hell
Cause we westerners got weak stomachs
After about a week or 2 you’ll be like a local and eat everything
I tried pho for the first time today and it was probably the best noodle soup I’ve ever had in my life.
I've never made pho before and I just made this recipe. The broth is incredible. The charring of the onions and ginger provides a subtle smokey flavor and the fish sauce and dried shrimp packs an umami punch that I looove. I was worried it would just taste fishy with these 2 ingredients but it didn't! Thank you for sharing with us, and shout out to the person in the comments who transcribed the recipe from the video!
I buy pho where I live just the plain pho is 15.00 I can understand the price now it's a pain to make and costly.
Oh thank goodness that it's not fishy. I'm gonna have to try this recipe sometime!
I don’t care how many videos he makes of this... I’m going to watch every single one a thousand times
Exactly. Idc if every video is phō I’m watching it
Same pho is lit
Phở
Phở ngon nhất vietnames!!! ^%%^#%^
You inspired my first time ever trying to make Pho. I love Pho so much. Eat it all the time! I was very skeptical and afraid to fail as most people probably are when they try something for the first time. I wasn't a big fan of it, but my wife loved it. I can't wait to make it again. This time, I'm going to make a lot more! I love your videos man. You truly inspired me to try it. Keep up the Pho videos!
I miss my moms pho. I've been in the U.S Army for 4 years and haven't had any Asian food. I mostly eat Mexican because im stationed near the border.
There’s Pho in El Paso
Thank you for your service!
I use my sink also. That's old school. My granny did it, My mom & aunties did it!! Plssss!! Bleach does wonders.I cutting and washing my collar greens in my sink as Im watching you now nephew. I Absolutely love your skills, I've been a chef since 1999. I'm 52yrs old and still learning. I learn alot from you 💯 You are never to old to learn. Much love from NYC ❤️🙏🏾❤️🙏🏾
Pho and life is such a beautiful thing!
The way he enjoys his food is the reason i watch. I want to make those noises with absolutely no shame like him. #inspired fr
Opposite for me. I like his personality and the food he cooks but the lip smacking is disgusting and obnoxious.
I totally second your amazing thoughts on how he unveils his definition of "The Works"! :D
Your right very obnoxious and disgusting couldn't watch anymore
Yeah, I like the videos overall but stop watching when he starts eating. It almost disgusts me.
Terrible table manners!🤭
I would be very shameful seating on the same table.
I LOVE how hes always improving and learning more! Goes to show some things just come with time, and a little trial and error.
Amazing. I had my first bowl of pho over 30 years ago before it was a common thing in the U.S.. Since then, I've had hundreds of bowls of it. This is the first time I've ever seen it made. Great video!
His broth is amazing looking
Yo dont sleep on quangs cooking tecnniques. He ain't a regular Joe in the kitchen, he definitely knows what's good. He got that restaurant experience.
Pure joy and magic. Haven’t made pho in a minute but this gets me pumped to make some soon.
He has the most satisfying enthusiasm for all of it, it pulls me in. Also, anyone else just fall in love as soon as he starts eating? The lips.. Im like whoa.. I Dont know what looks more tasty.👀🍜🔥🔥
😂🤣
I love pho with every ounce of my being and I’ve seen the recipe so many times in so many ways...and yet the amount of work that goes into it leaves me going “meh, I’ll pay the $10-15 dollars for a bowl” and move on with my life
I wouldn't cook this for myself either, and I consider myself a pho connoisseur lol. rather go eat at my many local pho restaurants and smell the aromas
I'm curious on how much money I would save
Oof a bowl over here is 10 dollars and the bowl is MASSIVE
Eat out they give you fakes
Same, I love pho but the effort to make and clean up is insane outside of a restaurant, I would only make it if I was being paid
“your house is gonna smell like vietnam in no time” LOL

@Matcha Latte UNO REVERSE CARD

This looks soooo good. I have had pho before (on cruise ships) but this is spectacular. This is a great recipe to try while in quarantine.
Holly crap...I am SO happy I stumble onto this. Pure gold. I'm making this now (well, actually I woke up before 5am so I could make the broth). Also, I HATE hearing people slurp or chew but for some reason when Quang does it I'm like "Hell yeah! That's good food right thar."
22:48 “the meat just slapped me in my face guys”
I got in a fight with my mom and this made me feel better
U still fighting?
Great video man! I also just got to learn how to make Vietnamese Pho, but very cool to see you put the dried shrimps as ingredient for your stock! I will try that next time too! Thanks for sharing your magic!
I swear, this looked fantastic as you made it. I have had terrific pho in my area, authentically prepared and that broth IS the answer!!
Honestly, the brown containers makes everything so much more professional, presentable, and neat. Love it.
I barely started the video and it's already great
Once I'm older I'm gonna make the best pho out of all my family because of your amazing pho!
At 18:26 I just lost it, I closed my eyes and enjoyed the meal with you bruh, gonna try making it tomorrow. Hugs from México my man!
Wow man your channel is huge now! Always felt like you deserved it, tremendous growth since you first started I love these videos and love to see you eat 😂💯
The stove top grilling got me lol
Yeah I’m definitely saving this one for later lol. I love it!! I already know it’s gonna be good!
I totally cheated by cooking the broth in my insta pot and it still turned out delicious! Pressure cook for 2 hours, instant release and took out the brisket. Pressure cook again for an hour and let it come to release naturally for 30 minutes. So good. I definitely want to try it naturally but I started cooking late and was on a time crunch so I winged it! Still turned out delicious! I also added ox tails. Thank you!
that was amazing man. first pho ive ever made and it was the bomb. thank you for sharing!
ps: just by watching you eat i get hungry again haha
Oh, my, God. You just sold the shit out of this! I’ve never had Pho before and I want to cook this. LOVE your personality and presentation. Thx! 😊
You have to try it! The broth, alone, is amazing. It is well worth the time & effort, I promise!
I'm super excited for you. Go look for a restaurant that serves authentic pho, compare that with your homemade version. Pho is the ULTIMATE comfort food, which happens to be mega flavorful and universally loved. Slurp it up, soup and noodles. th-cam.com/video/dpU1zYRkvRs/w-d-xo.html
Better get on it! It's magical
Always happy to see different groups of people come to a resturant to eat and no Asian do not eat dogs. That’s only in the Congo heart of Asia jungle but people there are slowly changing their minds of what to eat due to how they start to love their pets.
B Xiong some North Koreans eat dog according to an interview I saw made to a North Korean lady... but yeah that’s basically a stereotype and not true
If you put your spices in a cheesecloth tied, it would much easier to remove from the broth. 😊 love your video thank you so much for sharing!
Tried it for the first time last week I'm in love, going back with my daughter
15:00 the sound of the pour and gentle simmer are heavenly.
The thai chilli, the OG's remember. AND THE GRUNTS, oh man the nostalgia
Yep brings back memories
Yep holy. Let it burn your tongue
You guys have been here for as long as I have, it seems. Gotta love it.

Solid recipe, loved making it for my friends and loved the compliments given it was my first making this. Had to come and say thank you for sharing. I also made the Chinese donuts from your other phone recipe 😋
Omg! I can hardly take it! This looks sooo good. I swear this stuff is healing to the body!
I don’t know why, but i feel like it is so calming to watch these vids🤗
SIDEWYNDE same
SIDEWYNDE your right
SIDEWYNDE I so agree
I agree. The only thing that would have made it even more calming is watching him chop all the extras (green onion, cilantro, etc).

When he said, "nobody talk," I literally held my breath to be more quiet.
I told my wife to be quiet and she refused so I had to beat her. I am sorry! I was in the moment.
Love how you chomped down on your dish at the end, great tips. Killed it
The way you cut the brisket.. is so satisfying
You: “One cup of fish sauce”
Subtitles: “One cup of piss off”
I'm in Mexico with no pho and I'm dying here. Pho is my all time noodle soup. It looks delicious.
Girl you gotta get you some pazole ... It's the Mexican version of pho
I’ve got some Pho fixings all prepped in the fridge right now. I was saving it for dinner, but not after I saw this! I’m going for it immediately. Yes, I’m super pumped for this!!!
Also my chopsticks hand is my dominant hand so it’s also my spoon hand so I am having to train up to using my other hand as my spoon hand. Regardless…it’s getting eaten!
Your pho stock is legit the best!!! I went stupid and added 2 more star anise and extra ginger and nearly goofed up the taste BUT it ended up tasting bomb. I’ll follow your recipe to the T next time lol
Told my wife I was going to do this and then Quang said 12 hrs
you don't need 12 hours. My mom cook this in a morning and we have pho for lunch.
@@uttonio well then your making phony pho
You can settle for 8 and it will still turn out good. I started at 11 and was done by 7 so it's not bad. Just set a timer for every 2 hours and skim the gunk off the top and go do other things.
4 hours is bare minimum and it's good enough to eat. Stew longer for more flavor but I cheat with instapot.
Those slurps of the noodles were oddly satisfying.
This looks so good, my new fav pho recipe vid! Can’t wait to try & ur right that hot water sanitizes anythg in that sink.
I don’t know who you are but please stop messing with my emotions.....
This the most satisfying video I’ve seen in a long time!
I know, right? Food of the gods=Pho
I think I’ve watched this about 10 times. Even hand wrote it out. I’m ready to attempt.
How did it end up brother?
good luck my friend
@@akarigamingDB sorry I never see replies here but it was PHO-nomenal. I’ve made this about 4-5 times due to the amount of time it takes but it’s so worth it.

Love your stuff Quang keep posting content. The only one I know of on TH-cam that actually eats what they cook, love dat shit my dude.
Msg is ok. It is not unhealthy. It’s like a another spice
I try to explain this to people and they look at me like I'm crazy. I tell them if they have ate at any Asian restaurant they have had msg. It is in ALOT of foods you buy at the store.
Cassie Schroeder-Rhodes True. If you ever ate anything contains soy sauce, there’s MSG in there. Soy sauce tastes so good mainly because of the naturally-fermented MSG.
Yes, people still think msg is unhealthy and I have tried to explain but noone listens. * sad noise *
I never believed the negative hype about MSG as I look at the generations of Asians that have used it and still live long lives. With that said, the tide is turning and MSG is going to get the same treatment as eggs where they will declare it wasn't as bad as they made it out to be. That doesn't mean you shouldn't use it in moderation, like you would salt.
*nobody in the room besides Quang*
Quang: "Nobody Talk"
Could not stop salivating watching this video..... what a work of art.
Great video. Will definitely try this recipe. Thank you so much!
I enjoy watching you. Entertaining. Goofy in an adorable way. Also, I'm impress with your culinary skills. Lastly, I love love how you adore lovingly your mother. Great man you are. Btw, MSG was given a very bad rap. A stigma to the culinary scene, however, its everywhere in our food just like sugar. It's just another seasoning like your salt and pepper. Check out the research
