@@tummieflowers2681 I don't see him as possessive. He has reasonable expectations. Plus, I've been in his shoes. I was married to a man who would come home from work and get on the phone with his mom and sister for hours until it was time to go to bed. He barely said two words to me. He never got to know me fully. This went on every day for 10 years. The only time it didn't happen was on weekends, because we went to their house on Saturdays and saw them at church on Sundays.

But, asking her to get off the phone within five minutes after getting home and expecting her to be home when he gets home is NOT too bad unless she’s working. It’s important to be attentive to your significant other. Otherwise, they will find it elsewhere.

The expectations that this man has overall are similar to what most men would expect. It seems that she just wasn't ready to get married, and she wanted a way out. You can't demand the benefits of marriage without putting I'm the work it requires to make it work.

She was worried and frantic over her Mother. It took her 30 minutes to even decide whether or not she should check on her. Waited an additional 10 for him to get out of bed.
If he loved her and loved her Mother as his own he wouldn't have been contemplating whether or not he should go for 40 minutes. I don't understand why he didn't suggest they check on her long before 40 minutes especially given the fact that she was only 12-13 minutes away.
Why didn’t she just go check on her immediately instead of waiting?

This is a mess. He is demanding, and manipulative. But what does it cost her to greet her husband, stay off the phone at night and check out her mom before she gets home. That way she can focus on her husband. But I would need a little time to go to the bathroom alone. That’s where I draw the line.
The bathroom part would’ve made me divorce him immediately. That’s acting like a young child clinging to his mother.

This man married a working independent woman and expected her to fill a very traditional domestic role. They have different relationship needs and ideal levels of closeness. Neither tried to compromise.
What he said about her still being available to her mom and/or her friends showed he mustn’t have too many friends. The way I understand their situation while watching this episode, I think they shouldn’t get married. They could have stayed friends, even friends with benefits who cares, but get married….naaan.

I think this woman is going to die alone. I think the relationship she has with her mother is beautiful. She has wonderful family values. That being said her mother has reached life expectancy and she's going to pass away soon and this woman is going to have nothing and nobody. She's going to have to learn how to cooperate with a spouse or buy a lot of cats. As for the husband he needs to pick and choose his spouse wisely. Just cuz somebody proposes doesn't mean you need to say yes. He's obviously looking for a traditional wife and he needs to make certain before he says I do again he finds a woman who is looking to be in that traditional role that is not for everyone.
