Great vid. The Hellcats are monsters and they make an amazing noise, but the Vettes know how to eat. You gave them the advantage on those pulls, but it is clear it wouldn't have mattered. Great example of what having that engine weight closer to the rear wheels can do.

I am a fan of both although I own a 911 turbo. The reason the vette is quick is all gearing. Hellcat is geared much taller... don't believe me, look it up. Off the line, vettes are quick with a 1st gear that doesn't even go past 38 mph. In contrast, Hellcats are 1.5 times longer. Choose your potency. Hellcat would outrun the vette and out accelerate it at higher speeds due to more power, vette is better for quick acceleration due to gearing. I don't even bother racing vettes from a stop as my 911 has over 500 awhp but, is a stick and will do nearly 50 in 1st. My 911 would pull a c8 above 100 easily. It is all about gearing and power/weight for a quick car.
C8 vs a Hellcat....a tactician vs a brawler. I heard that guy say it was 52 degrees; you can forget about a HC hooking at that temperature especially with summer performance tires. I owned a 16 and now a Redeye Widebody. All that 90 extra hp did was make things worse. I'll run right with your C8; even pull you a little from 100mph on, but 0-60 you'll train ride my ass on the street. On a prepped track with drag radials, it'll be a bit more even. 1000 pounds lighter and mid-engine weight distribution makes the C8 a formidable competitor. Too bad Dodge doesn't have something similar. Only problem with a C8 is buying one for even close to a reasonable price - if you can get one at all.
You should be "embarrassed" with this video's title, lol! From a 40 roll in warm weather, the narrow body HC, stock for stock, will smoke a C8 Z51. Period. Have done it several times already. The only thing the C8 has going for it is light weight & wider tires (thus better traction on launch), which is why the guy only wanted to run from a 20...& why he jumped every race.... & why he lifted as soon as you started reeling him in, lol! I've driven the Z51 on a road course & was not as impressed with it as I thought I'd be. Nice car, respect the engineering, but until the Z06 or ZR1 versions finally come out, I'll stick with the Hellcat - way more "smiles per gallon". Y'all be safe out there!

I have both and this is what I expected to see. Now If you rolled say 60-130 the hellcats going to win. These hellcats need a good tire and a 60mph roll to have a chance at traction, then the 700+ hp shows who's boss lol. I love my dodge but even under perfect conditions the hellcat never stood a chance against the Z06. That thing is doing sub 3 second 0 to 60. It's a race car vs a road beast. Total mismatch.
And the Hellcat costs how much more than a base model Corvette C8? This is a base model C8 Corvette beating up on a Hellcat which is Mopar's top of the line horsepower monster. Now just think of how much faster that C8 would be if it was a Z06 or I took the 20-30 grand I save buying the C8 and putting that into performance. Those hellcats certainly are not as fast as everyone thinks they are. That's 707 horsepower is at the crank not the wheels which means they probably have 500 maybe 550 horsepower at the wheels which is pretty average because there's quite a few cars out there with 500 horsepower.

He gets better traction than any Dodge much less hellcat at 20mph regardless of weather 2. He knows you will pull on him at 120mph+ Don't get me wrong I have a slightly modified Camaro SS, and I love my car, and my car weighs about maybe 300 lbs more than that C8, but I know what facts are facts. The race would have been closer between my Camaro SS and those hellcats 20-100mph but I ain't no bitch like that C8, I paid $40,000 (including upgrades) for that speedometer and I intend to use all of it. To bad that C8 can't say the same when he paid at least double what I paid for my car, and I bet I can run him down above 100mph+ just like those hellcats can albeit with not as much pull. Win or lose, its just for fun for me... nothing more nothing less. Awesome races though.
You are correct, I have a C8 and have raced a couple Hellcats and I will smoke them from a dig but at about 120mph I hear that s/c screaming next to me and they pass me like Im standing still. Now put a couple turns in the road and its not even close, the C8 is an amazing track car and that is what it was made for, it just happens to do pretty good in a straight line and masks its hp disadvantage for a little while due to the rear engine. When the Z06 comes out soon, it will be a different story w/ the 5.5 liter flat plane crank reving to 8k rpm.

And the Hellcat costs how much more than a base model Corvette C8? This is a base model C8 Corvette beating up on a Hellcat which is Mopar's top of the line horsepower monster. Now just think of how much faster that C8 would be if it was a Z06 or I took the 20-30 grand I save buying the C8 and putting that into performance. Those hellcats certainly are not as fast as everyone thinks they are. That's 707 horsepower is at the crank not the wheels which means they probably have 500 maybe 550 horsepower at the wheels which is pretty average because there's quite a few cars out there with 500 horsepower.

Don't get me wrong I have a slightly modified Camaro SS, and I love my car, and my car weighs about maybe 300 lbs more than that C8, but I know what facts are facts. The race would have been closer between my Camaro SS and those hellcats 20-100mph but I ain't no bitch like that C8, I paid $40,000 (including upgrades) for that speedometer and I intend to use all of it. To bad that C8 can't say the same when he paid at least double what I paid for my car, and I bet I can run him down above 100mph+ just like those hellcats can albeit with not as much pull.

You are correct, I have a C8 and have raced a couple Hellcats and I will smoke them from a dig but at about 120mph I hear that s/c screaming next to me and they pass me like Im standing still. Now put a couple turns in the road and its not even close, the C8 is an amazing track car and that is what it was made for, it just happens to do pretty good in a straight line and masks its hp disadvantage for a little while due to the rear engine. When the Z06 comes out soon, it will be a different story w/ the 5.5 liter flat plane crank reving to 8k rpm.
You know the Camaro is considered the little brother compared to the Corvette. Stop arguing with your big brother. The C8 race it’s race which in reality it suppose to be from a dig. I think the challenger is less weight than the charger & that's why it was pulling so but I could be wrong though...

The C8 weights 900 pounds less than a 'Cat, but does have a slightly worse power to weight ratio, 7.0 pounds per horsepower vs. 6.33 lbs per horsepower. Also, the C8's final drive axle ratio of 4.89:1 is why it accelerates so fast, but it is also why its top speed suffers. A Charger 'Cat can run around 205 mph, Dodge claims 203, top end and a C8 stingrays is about 194. Even with a similar power to weight ratio the C8 wouldn't hit 203mph. A Dodge Demon has closer gear ratio to the C8 with its 4.10 gearing. Put a 4.89 final axle drive ratio in a 'Cat and it'll fly too. Also, the Challenger 'Cats equipped with a Tremec TR6060 manual 6 speeds require light modifications to remove the gear lockouts that prevent the car from engaging correctly in a roll race.
