The newer version you cannot access the inside of the motor to spin. However a few taps with the handle of a screwdriver was enough to unfreeze mine. I used a rubber handled screwdriver so I recommend caution to not dent the motor. Took about 10-15 gentle taps
@Aaron Williams Thanks a lot!! I get a lot of great questions from people having the newer version without no hole in the motor. Many people will surely appreciate this info!
Same here, had the newer smaller motor, but nothing I did got it to work (even connecting it to higher voltage power source). After (destructive) disassembly I discovered that one of the tiny brushes on the motor had been corroded by moisture, I've only used the Swiffer three times so this is absolutely a case of poor engineering causing premature obsolescence. If they actually wanted to make a product that lasted they would have used gears to pivot the motor out of the pack of leaking water, and add vents to the outer casing so it can dry/drain naturally. Product is junk, can't recommend it to anyone as there's no guarantee it will last. Anyone who has this problem and can't unfreeze the motor can try sticking a toothpick in the bottom of the motor, there are two curved slots in the center, you can see on each side a tiny paperclip-thick piece of shiny metal, those are the brushes, you can hold down the button on the handle while gently pushing them around to see if it starts working.
@@devinoakley4063 totally agree!! i only used mine 5 or 6 times for 10 min each,,,piece of junk....mine only a year old..now the new ones have 2 batteries not 4....JUNK
If you have a newer model and tapping it did not work. The new model has two very tiny holes on the top of the motor. That you can squeeze a very tiny screwdriver through to reach and spin the motor manually. I used the tiniest screwdriver that people use to tighten their glasses to get in there and spin it. This worked for me. Please like so people don’t have to buy another pos swiffer👍

This was the one! Tried the easier stuff, no luck. Pried open the cover, used some WD40 and moved the motor manually, and it sprayed. Of course I realized I put the bottom part on the wrong way after putting it all back together but it's all good now. From a not handy at all person, thank you!!!
Thank you, I appreciate your comment. There some tips in the pinned comment up top that might be able to help you with your situation with the motor not having a slot in the newer versions of the Swiffer.

Thank you! I have two. Both stopped working the same time, and I had no idea why. Now I know it was from the liquid leaking out too much. One I have is like yours in the video. But the other I have is a newer one. There's no access to grease the motor. So I shot wd40 in the white holes that puncture the cleaning solution bottle. And it worked! Hope that may help. What a video. My model was different from the demo only in Phillips screws rather than flathead. Everything else jibed perfectly. WD-40 and few spins saved me some coin. Thank you!!!

I bought one at a garage sale today for a dollar. It didn't work. I opened it like you did and there is a slot to turn the motor, which I did. Now it works. They should make it so the liquid does not leak over the motor like that. Why does China have to make such cheap stuff? Thanks for the video!
Im so mad i threw out my old on that this probably would have worked on. I bought a new one and after a month it did the same thing so im now on my 3rd and once again having this problem but its the newer style and no amount of banging with a screwdriver or poking the tiny holes seems to be helping. Going to have to try some wd40 when my hubby gets home.

Before i watched any vids I bought new batteries and was so aggravated i was ready to smash this thing....THANK YOU!! One question?? Do you think its best to remove the solution bottle and turn upside down between uses to prevent this??
Appreciate your comment!! Yes, I would take the bottle out after using it just for to be sure. Thanks for watching!!
YOU ARE A GENIUS SIR... TY TY TY
@@andya.5322 Thank you for the compliment & Thanks for watching!
It worked like a charm. Thank you!!!
Great! Good to hear that, Thank you for watching!
I was ready to throw another one away and never buy another. I have two that do not work. Like someone else posted, you cannot access the inside of the motor. I bought one at a garage sale today for a dollar. It didn't work. I opened it like you did and there is a slot to turn the motor, which I did. Now it works. They should make it so the liquid does not leak over the motor like that. Why does China have to make such cheap stuff? Thanks for the video!
@@danielklee2933 I'm really happy that it worked out for you. You're right the design could be better. Appreciate you watching the video Thanks!
I was mad & ready to go back to a mop & 🪣 again b/c no way was I shelling out another $30. But this really worked! Only 1 year and so rusted 😱
I know what you mean. That rust buildup is crazy. Thanks for watching!
Thank you so much! This was so helpful!!!
You're so welcome!
Yes, I hear some people say the WD-40 works for the newer models since it doesn't have the big holes on the motor like the older ones. Let me know it worked & Thanks for watching!
Super helpful. Thanks.
You're welcome! Thanks for watching!
You are gonna get every penny’s worth out of that thing. Doing this right here, this is how you will one day afford to retire. (Assuming you aren’t already only because you sound so young) Thanks for passing on the wisdom!
I am going to try this!!
Good job. Very detailed!!!!
