@@doctordoom02 I heard this song on the radio last year and I thought "wow, finally someone that makes good music". I never heard this song before and I genuinely thought it was closer to 2018-19 more than anything. My jaw almost fell when I knew it was from the year 2000. I guess it's something about the arrangements or the vibe that makes it sounds not dated and as the OP said, so fresh
@@marioh6220 I don't know if you're young but I suppose so. Yesterday I was talking with a 16 yo nephew about "the song from stranger things": he genuinely thought it was a recent song. No doubt still there's good music (sadly, NEVER mainstream) but if you want to know good shit, just look back in time, just as me when I was young (80s-90s) and listened (also) 60s-70s music. I mean: the Greatest, Jimi, is from 60s. 😉
Shallow Hal introduced me to what probably is my favorite band. ❤️👍🏻 I remember going crazy trying to figure out who sang this song waaaay before google and TH-cam existed. The struggle was real.
When I first became familiar with this song, I was ignorant to the idea of looking at the credits in the movie for it. And even then it would have been a shot in the dark 😭😩

Ahead of their time. This song is where it all started. The formula they built on. If you compare this album to their latest works it's not too far away. The concepts are still there although I prefer the natural instrumentation on the debut to the digital phasing of the later years. It's one of the best debuts ever released. Honeymoon is beautiful.
Saw them in columbus with dogs die in hot cars at 17, was a 21 and up club had a girl use makeup to make the stamp on my hand to get in. Only like 30 people there, they had like 8 people on stage.

Holy shit....I've never heard this before but I genuinely thought it was a typo on Spotify saying the song/album was from 2000. This ENTIRE sound was about a decade ahead of its time. And you can see that they were the first to do it because the songwriting is awesome.
Was watching Lost in Translation and this song played very briefly and I KNEW I heard it before somewhere. I actually started crying trying to figure it out, it is so hauntingly beautiful! How is this still sounding so fresh 23 years after its release??
Phoenix is timeless
I was just gonna say no way this sounds like it was made in 2000. Could'v literally come out this year and It wouldn't have surprised me.
@@NAETEMUSIC no, it sounds exactly like 2000, and that's because today music almost totally sucks

So many years listening to this song and I had never seen the mv, I didn't even know it existed.
I remember i used to see a video where there's a blonde girl walking on the city. But couldn't find it anymore. Idk if it was real or not 😂
Same! Only ever seen the album cover in luminous green on TH-cam
Love their sound. Heard them during the Olympics closing ceremony.
Still sounds as fresh and cruisy as ever.
It does indeed sound cruisy.

Just to understand that I was afraid to be a simple guy
I tried my best to smile but deep inside my heart
I felt it was shouting like a crowd dancing
I guess I couldn't live without the things that made my life what it is
Can't you hear it calling oh yeah
Everybody's dancin' oh yeah
Tonight everything is over
I feel too young
I can't lie on my bed without thinking I was wrong
But when this feeling calls this world becomes another
Nighttime won't hold me in your arms again
I got a very good friend who says he can't believe the love I give
Is not enough to end your fears
I guess I couldn't live without the things that made my life what it is
Can't you hear it calling oh yeah
Everybody's shakin' oh yeah
Tonight everything is over
I feel too young
Oh rainfalls and hard times coming they won't leave me tonight
I wish I knew what I was doing
Just do let this spirit survive
Everybody's dancing oh yeah
I guess I couldn't live without the things that made my life what it is
Can't you hear it calling oh yeah
Everybody's dancing oh yeah
Tonight everything is over
I feel too young
Thank you!
Thanks :)
