meaning, he was in a state of existence, near equal to the cosmic entities, just by virtue of existing alongside them.
and since he was so big, he was strong enough to do things like recreate the multiverse and shit.

My headcanon for how his powers work is that he takes the mass from other realities of himself. So theirs a random non powered Ant-Man who suddenly gets half his mass taken from him or suddenly puts on twice his body weight.

@@pauldiamond1583 It's shorthand for how scientists will always simplify a problem when searching for a solution. If it's biology, you just have to assume the cow is spherical... if it's physics, you also have to assume that the spherical cow is moving (mooo-ving) through a vacuum. :)

Yep, that sounds about right for such a Marvel character. Actually sounds like a more plausible explanation for the movie version of Ant-Man too!
You listed his names but you (or your source) missed that during a period when he was with the West Coast Avengers and was not using his super-powers, he was still active using miniaturized weapons and using the name Dr. Pym. And you mentioned potions and gases but in early issues of Tales to Astonish he would use capsules. So many panels of him tilting his head back, mouth open and tossing in a pill. Such a sixties youth culture/drug culture image, no idea how the comics code let that happen. Though he did soon switch to using the shrinking gas.

In the comics Antman is a total Badass. Hank Pym has had so many Superhero aliases and all of them had there pros and cons which is super interesting. I found it interesting that as of right now in the comics, Hank Pym is currently only using his Giantman alter ego. If I had access to Pym Particles I would use them to shrink down and grow large like they did in the MCU movies. Being able to shrink extremely small and then grow insanely Giant is super useful and sounds like a whole lot of fun. You’d never get bored with those abilities.
I can kind of see why he would stick to being Giant Man in the comics. The Ant Man name is being used by Scott Lang, the last guy to call himself Goliath died in Civil War, and Yellowjacket represented one of his lowest points of his life.

No. The Atom uses light shined through a white dwarf star lens. He made his costume out the white dwarf material and he floods it with light to shrink.

When Ant-Man gets smaller his extra mass is sent to another dimension. When he grows bigger he adds mass from another dimension. His brain controls this by focusing on what he wants to become.
This basically means the Animorph's morphing technology is powered by Pym particles. Neat.
Scientist Supreme is an official title held by Marvel characters. Although, Hank was tricked by Loki into thinking he was the Scientist Supreme....so he really never held the title. A.I.M also calls their head scientist 'Scientist Supreme'...so there are a handful of people with this title...

Fun fact about ants: if you WERE to upscale an ant to human sized without additional reinforcements outside of the extra size, it’s legs would all snap under its own weight. The only reason it can lift ten times it’s body weight is because of how small it is

Its actually explained in one comic that the way the pim particles actually work is by modulating the fields around the atoms of mater allowing it to change the space between the atoms composing matter itself and compressing it or expanding it as arround 99 percent of solid matter is composed purely of empty space by increasing or decreasing that empty space he can therefore modify his size and mass
Edit this answer isn't fully satisfactory as this would mean that his mass remains the same no matter his size it is therefore unclear how the mass modulation actually functions

Couldn't the comic authors had say that the pym particles allow ant man to move in a fourth spatial dimension? That would explain the size change as the projection of the fourth dimension in the third.

If you double in size, your mass increases by a factor of eight. 2 on the x axis, 2 on the z axis, 2 on the y axis therefore 2x2x2 = 8. So, if a 6ft, 200lb man doubles to 12ft, his mass becomes 1600lb. This means his mass enlargement is exponential in regard to his size. Thank you for listening to my half arsed TED talk.

So, about the size increase and mass increase, if you grow twice the size in all dimensions, the crossection of your bones and muscles, which is what affects their strength, grows 4 times in area, while the volume of your body, which the mass is proportional to, grows 8 times. And the more you grow, the bigger the problem becomes
