byebyegiomar most people aren't rehabilitate while in prison. I wish that prisons would really focus on rehabilitation. I would rather see tax dollars spent wisely. If we fix a person emotional, by getting to the issues as to what led them to being incarcerated and then educating them so that they can get a job. But the DOC and BOP need to assist prisoners with finding employment. Most prisoners when they first get out they are excited and want to be a better person. But the reality of not being able to find a job or start a career begins to make them lose hope. Next thing you know they turn back to what they know gave them a sense of accomplishment. And they will slip back into the same thing that got them put in prison the first time. And the revolving door syndrome begins.
I was born and raised in the Philippines, man. This guy was caught driving without a license. One of the cops didn't like the way he moved, you know, attitude. The other cop said, "give him a ticket and let's go". The other one said, "nah, he gotta know who's in charge". So they haul him in, put him in a holding cell while they're "verifying who he is", you know. In the holding cell, there was this gangsta, from a prison gang, not a street gang. bullied him. the other guy, though, he ain' gon' be bullied, so they have a fight right there in the holding cell, and his charges go up a notch to "physical injuries". gets six months to a year in city jail. he didn't belong to a gang, so the bully (at the holding cell) had his prison gang go for him at the city jail. some un-inked guy takes pity on him, gives him a shank, for "next time". tells him he's gotta get respect one way or the other, or they'll end up raping him. well, next time comes, and happens, and he's now in for six years to 12, they bus him to the national penintentiary (remember, this is third world). over there, he joins a rival gang to the first guy who he fought, but, this gang wanted him to prove himself, so they set him up to be the 'starter'. basically start a fight in 'the yard' with another gang they had a beef with. you know how it went from there. eventually he became a 'shot caller', for riots, and shankings, that is. the only saving grace in his story is that he didn't have a family from the get go. The first cop who could've let him off with a ticket ? He was a constant visitor in prison, and he took care of the guy's mom who was sick with TB. Cop said there's no apology he can give that'll cut it. I believe him.
"Shotcaller" and "Beasts of No Nation" are two of the most underrated movies I've ever seen. Mostly because they pull no punches and the material is dark as hell and depressing.
What I've understood. Prison rapes are less about being gay and more about asserting dominance over the unfortunate individual. Others see and/or hear what happened and stay away from that particular booty bandit.
It sounds like a interesting movie with you saying that it shows how serious the shit gets. I have been blessed not to ever go to prison myself however I had a few cousins who had. At one time I was facing a 15 year sentence and was blessed with having the finances to retain one of the very best reputable attorneys in the State who beat the charge 100% . That situation alone made me realize that the threat of Freedom being taken away, was not worth it for myself nor family. Herc, I do admire you, I do appreciate your goals and always please remember if you can save 1 in 1000 people from learning from you as a mentor, it is always worth it. It looks though your teachings are helping many more than you realize and I do feel you found your god given gift to grow upon.
Man! AT FIRST when I saw "Shot Caller" I thought "GOOD, but NOTHING EXCEPTIONAL", but for some reason I COULDN'T FUCKING FORGET IT! For some reason I continued to think about it, almost every single day. I realized that it made a much deeper impact on me, than I could have ever thought, and that movie was PRETTY DAMN AWESOME. SAD, BUTAL, but FORMIDABLE, too!
Holy shit. This isn't a film review. He's just telling us that he saw the movie. I'm guessing this means he agrees with the movie being true to how that would play out in real life.
I didn't see this movie, maybe I'll look it up. I know a guy whose situation sounds just about like the one described in this video. Young guy, 18 or 19 when he got sent to prison and had a few years to do. I told him when he gets out he'll still be young and can restart his life and put this behind him. He ended up doing some 'work' (assaults) for a group in there. Then it escalated to hits, killings. Now he's doing two life sentences plus 25 years and locked down on a 5/5 yard with no movement. What a waste.
Nothing is better than a massive black man with a lisp saying 'took dem cheeks'. If there was ever a reason I won't go to prison, it's this man. Thank you. #ScaredStraight
That ain't much. I blew a 1.8 in my second dwi. Almost a 2 lol. Which was equivalent to an exact 12 pack. I drank a lot back then though. But, thank God I didn't blow a 2 or over. It turns that ticket into a whole new ballgame. Probably would have done time.
I just watched the movie on Netflix. It was pretty good! I was a little disappointed there was no shower scene (I'm a peter gazer). But, I think it shows a realistic portrayal of getting caught up in the system.
I saw the movie yesterday in english and thanks to Big Herc lacing me up on prison lingo I was able to understand all the talk. Thanks Big Herc from Germany.
The DOC sends you to the joint for 5yrs. At the same time, the DOC should take all responsibility and liability to make sure you return home (alive) after you complete your sentence. You didn’t get a death sentence, you got 5yrs
Much love big al!!! God bless my friend!! Young kids especially young men need too hear this real talk these days. We love em, we can give u the wisdom, but its up to the individual to change!! Stay syrong fellas, much love from down under!!

Just what I was thinking. But to be honest I prefer the play by play with what big herc thinks about it all.
Came into prison as a square, came out of prison as a killer / drug dealer / gangster. Something's wrong.

the video title should be "big herc gives a detailed summery about the film and tells you more that you want to know "
yeah this is narrating what happens instead of a review.
Michi Cyrill 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Michi Cyrill Big Herc presents: cheek by cheek analysis of “Shot Caller”
Michi Cyrill lol
Lmao 😂🤣he basically read the IMBD plot for the movie
you forgot the most important part, why he killed the shot-caller...it was because he threatened his family

that whole prison system and what goes on is absurd, really.
They sent him upstate for 18 months? That's damn near county time.
Daniel M fucked up huh
in CA, between 1 and 2 years, if its serious, you go to prison.
He got 7 years not 18 months
Jay 207 he was originally locked up for 2 years, then he got 7 years after he put in some work in prison.
Jay 207 iirc, he was facing down 6 years and took a plea for 2
Dark ending but dope and realistic film
I just watched the movie on Netflix. It was pretty good! I was a little disappointed there was no shower scene (I'm a peter gazer). But, I think it shows a realistic portrayal of getting caught up in the system.
American History X is a pretty good prison/gang-related movie that happens to have a shower scene.
