wasnt just the work he put in counter atacks, we played Di Maria as a center midfielder in a UCL final and he ended being the best player of the match, hes sacrifice...he wasnt our crux, he was our ANGEL Di Maria.

The fact that it’s different eras of Madrid shows how magical this Team truly is.
The counter-attack mindset is the best thing that Mourinho imprinted on Madrid squad. Prior to his reconstruction of the team, RM fans pressured previous managers to pursue total dominant football like Barca. Until after the massacre 5-0 at Camp Nou, he proved to the fans that it was not going to work, then moved on to implement a blazing counterattack gameplan that lasted for a decade later and delivers them many trophies.
Nothing of this is correct.
Real Madrid has used since di Stefano the strategy and tactics that better suited it for winning the matches.
Madrid has played, slow fast, counterattack, passing, defensive, aerial, high pressure, physical technical.
That is what gives us the edge, certainly not one of the least successful coaches at real madrid

I have seen Molowny, Di'Stefano, Benhaker, Toschak, they all used dominace and technic, I have seen from Floro to Del Bosque to the total chaos of Vanderlei Luxemburgo, Benitez, etc.
the only thing that Mourinho was good in was in holding the media at bay.
For you to know the team that was known for counter attack in Spain was Atletico de Madrid, and that ended more or less with the double, with Antic (great technician) when they started changing to the type of play that best suited their players any year (as all clubs do, even Barça).

totally true, if anyone asked me about my favorite goals ever, i would strongly consider this to be in top3. not some acrobatic or long range shots, but this perfectly executed team effort to deliver the ball from own half to the goal with few passes. Sounds simple, but i've never seen better counter-attack in my life

It was in later years that experts and fans understood that these two are irreplaceable and they’re the only goats of our time! One of these players was benzema! I do recall hearing in the news about a Lyon player with a quality of Messi and Ronaldo who is gonna dominate and be a new rival to these two but it turned out he wasn’t good enough to even be compared to the goats after playing two seasons for RM!

I used to remember a time when Madrid was such a pure counter-attacking side that sometimes when the opponents ceded possession to them willingly, they seemed confused on what to do next. A problem that they later somewhat solved by getting the ball either to Alonso to try a defence splitting long ball through a crowded half or to Khedira to try one of his box to box runs to attract players and make space for the strikers.
