Cecile is excellent, her movement is so precise and elegant. I still remember to this day the only time I ever met her in person. I had no idea she was some world famous dancer. Actually maybe she wasn't at the time. It was in the mid 2000s, I lived in Paris, I had just started learning salsa dancing, and she was at a local small party that I attended. A lot of guys can probably relate, how nerve-wrecking it is to go to a party when you're just starting out, after learning a few moves in class, going out there in the real world invite some strangers to dance when you still have no idea what you're doing... How so many will give you a crap attitude, etc... Anyway, I just saw this young woman swaying to the music and a song started, so I walked up to her and ask her to dance, she took my hand and ... she was so positive in her attitude, just smiling, doing her basics, so easy to lead, so light. I was this nervous beginner who could barely lead a few single turns and cross body leads, on1 at the time. She made me feel like I was the best dancer in the room, everything was easy and effortless and over 15 years later, it's still a treasured memory. Maybe some day we'll cross paths again at some congress (the day I go again, it's harder with a little family now than when it was just me). Nowadays after so many years of practice, I think I became quite ok so it would probably be even more fun than the first time. Be kind to a stranger. Maybe you'll have a real lasting positive impact on them without knowing it. She did and I'm still thankful to this day.
first time going on a social after ur first class, inviting strangers to dance(cuz that is what usualy leaders do), watching people better then u dancing cuts ur mood, its rly rly hard man , but that one first night will stay with u forever doesnt matter if u dance with some famous dancer, that presure... mannnn!!!(ur experience is better then mine hahahaaa)
