I play with randoms which most of the time is like playing solo. And the randoms I get are almost always one plates that I have to carry around.

There really isn't "loads of us".
This video is a partial showcase as to why.
The mode needs heavy changes still for it to be a consistently fun experience.
The damage of snipers needs to be toned down drastically. You can say it's "skill" all you want but I have yet to get hit by a sniper that didn't leave me on 5% hp with a 3 plate. Every other time it's a down.
Let's not pretend cheaters don't exist. Snipers can easily serve a purpose of zone control and plate fodder. This matters a lot in late extraction squad battles wether you want to accept that or not.
Premades were gun swapping years of insurance loadouts so they never had to worry again about insurance. It's apparently patched now but I never see a fresh 1 plate with a free Vaznev now so it's obviously still likely everyone has decent guns.
Speaking of fresh. Remove the garbage weapons from the free pool. It's not often a thing but spawning in with that trash 2 round I think Lockwood is almost an instant concede. So essentially it's never a factor until it is. What I mean by that is the sweats won't care if it's removed because it doesn't affect them and the newbies will benefit by having an actual serviceable gun to kill AI or a better way is to say they will NEVER have that 1 in 7 free round that is just an instant leave. This change affects almost nobody but removes the none games for new players.
They need to remove the spotter scope. It's life saving for me but the power it offers a sniper premade is far more significant. It's near mandatory to spawn in with it and to loot smokes. That isn't a dynamic experience it's a constant and tedious one.
The cash from missions needs to reward solo players more. Not by loads but enough to warrant solo risk and time. Instead of say 5 to 8k give 8 to 12k. This makes a trip to the trolley more rewarding for the increased risk and more time to do the missions.
Solo parties should ALWAYS spawn with 3 plates in the pouch. If a sniper head shots you with aim bot with a 1 plate then fine it happens but it isn't regular. But with the reduced damage I recommend, a 2 plate and an option to TRY and escape a pin down now exists even if you spawn with a scope and didn't loot smokes. Those whinging can still engage, follow up and play PvP but maybe that's why they whinge because they want to play solitaire and not a skill based PvP exchange.
They should also spawn solo players with a basic gas mask. It lowers the risk of the gas because solo missions take far longer. It allows them to use the gas to defend them in extractions.
And finally AI needs to do significantly less damage or spawn less based on the spawn triggering solo player in places like strongholds and weapons stash. I counted about 50 (no lie) plated mobs on the west side of the airport near the stronghold..They just didn't stop spawning. We have all seen thisw videos thay have the AI spawn behind your back too. So again let's not pretend it's not a problem.
As it stands 3 players do not suffer penalties of any kind and the "hard" pve content is a joke for 3. Even 3 bad players.
These changes need some extra context too.
People forget this is a mission based game mode that heavily favours camp squads who do not care about the missions but to annoy players. The insurance slots aren't really worth the effort to complete them but I enjoy the missions regardless and obviously others do too. The PvP aspect is nice, it's not overwhelming when it exists but as it stands now the majority of players have snipers and really play the game mode to do just that.
These changes give everything either a niche or make options viable as opposed to the still stale solitaire experience.
Also I know it doesn't make sense but allow players to land on the helo roof again, this helps solo players that positioned or thought ahead of time abiut the extract location. But just make sure the side doors close when in the air so a cheese player can't just come in and kill a full team 2 seconds before the load screen. Like we see in these "skill based TH-cam clips". It's not skill it's surprise in a game that has rediculous TTK. People will also forget that it isn't a guarantee because other options exist to kill the players on a roof.
Oh and 1 final change. Make 3 stacks unable to add more to a squad. You will be suprised the amount of times 5 or 6 players have tried to load into the same map for a free gank squad. By limiting the invite option you prevent a possible 12 man gank squad by picking up other squads after killing them. There is also another sinister thing they can do but I won't say what here because it's slowly picking up steam and when you find out you will understand. It makes the extraction unusable and it's not cheating either.
I think that about covers the changes I would make for solo players.
This was something else, honestly taking them apart so tactically but using the map to your advantage too, interesting also with the FPS you ran too.
I like this style of video because you are narrating directly to the viewer. It feels like you are watching it with us.

Solo is what I play the majority of the time, but I also always take a spotter scope when solo, and watching this video reminded me why. It makes such a difference!

Yeah spotter scope is quite good for solos. Since it doesn't give off glint when assessing potential threats. With a bonus thermal for spotting bush boys. I sometimes even carry it for trios. Acting as a spotter for the team.

Aid players in DMZ with Sniper support!
Seek out players attempting strongholds, requesting exfil, pinned down in sticky situations, and lend them the support they need to succeed!
CHALLENGE RULES:
NO PVP - Unless they fire on you, or they're a squad firing on those you're currently lending support to.
NO COMMS - You must remain 100% anonymous to the squad you're supporting. No joining squads!
LONG DISTANCE - No CQB! Only Sniper Support or ranged Kill Streaks.
FRIENDLY FIRE - You can only revive players using Revive Pistol!
That should actually be a faction mission

And yes I play the DMZ solo. I am not very good but just I got my first exfil camper 2-3 days ago. I was running for an exfil and heard some sniper shots. Didn't know if they were for me or not. There was a building near by so I just went in there for cover. Went upstairs and heard him shooting, then saw him on top of a tower.
I didn't have a sniper but had a good Battle rifle. I could see the guy close to the edge, so I shot at him. He crawled to the back edge but a minute later he came back to the front edge. I never expected to kill him, I was way below him with no angle but started shooting at the bottom of the platform. I shot like 15 rounds at him and I guess they went through the platform and killed him! I was lucky and elated to kill an "Exfil Camper". 😊🤩😎
Solo DMZ basically Campaign Mission , with some very cinematic moments, that why i only run solo in dmz, even with completely nothing , just bare hands, a semtex, a spotter scope and a ammo box.
Honestly Westie, you're like the FrankieonPC of DMZ. Your storytelling, your tactics, your game skill, it's all PHENOMENAL mate. My only sadness is I didn't discover your content or subscribe sooner. All the best from an instant and hopefully long-standing fan!
Lovely stuff mate, good to see this kind of content again. As a solo player that spends most of my games now sniping and trying to out-camp exfil campers I've found that the spotter scope can be an absolute life saver as it can seem to spot the thermal signatures of players at over 300m which can help give you an idea of where others are with no sniper glint giving you the edge on them without giving away your own position.
Watching you and Stod play this every day has made me want to give DMZ a try since the beginning of season 2 but knowing I would be a solo 90% of the time I was very reluctant. But I bit the bullet and have had some great experiences or “only in DMZ” moments both on my own and the odd occasions my mates join me, this mode has become my go to both on TH-cam and when I load up Modern Warfare 2. Keep up the salams!
This vid is a great example of why repositioning is so important as a solo player! If it were me I would’ve just went to a different exfil 😂

A really intersting game, you got into! But i really apprechiated, that you just let the one dude extract! So many people out there greet for any kills. So I really enjoy your mindset in this round, fighting with the ones that started the fight, but you let the ones, who let you in peace. (You were like a support for the extracting dude tbh). Only got into your dmz videos in the last couple of months. Really like this narration as it helps me understand the logic behind each move. Hopefully I can apply some of that to my game play

YOU GO WESTIE!!! I got sniped by an exfil camper last night and was infuriated by it! Playing solo is tough but it gives you a huge sense of accomplishment when you can complete just the easiest of missions. I actually completed Legion tier 1 last week by myself and it was awesome! I know the missions aren't really hard but when you aren't the best player and you play solo, it's more daunting than it should be. Part of me wants to go in just to be an counter-exfil camper! 😁 Cheers to you for wrecking those turds just trying to be jerks. (Yes I chose my words there carefully) Wish I could like the video 1000 times!
DMZ solo might actually be fun if I don't get 30% packet loss all the time because of this game's lovely servers
That looked like fun. I just finished soloing DMZ for the hazmat operator skin. When I wasn't getting curb stomped by teams, it was actually really entertaining. Nothing as harrowing as this, but this mode definitely has its moments.

I almost exclusively play solo. Learned a lot from people like on1c. Yeah, extraction campers are the worst of the worst.... Love your streams dude, but it's nice to see a vod every now and then!

Good effort dude. My favourite move is stalking the final exfil and taking out a whole team when I'm solo. I know myself it's soul destroying when you have spent the entire time collecting all your equipment, and your on the final exfil feeling good about it, then suddenly you get destroyed and a solo player robs all your efforts 😂. I am that soil destroyer 😅. Did you know by the way that you can repair blown tyres simply squat Infront of the wheel and a repair option appears. You can thank me later 😁
Quick tip about precisions: it always comes from the direction of the person so you can usually find them if you look towards the airstrike
DMZ Solo can be really brutal though. Some players wont shoot you but alot just think….. “this guys going to get it”.
DMZ is my favourite game mode atm.
Exfil campers sat there not doing missions or anything else are the worst. That game must be so boring for them if they have to take out people playing the game. Yeah I know it’s Warzone and you can play how you want but meh.
Hopefully Season 3 punishes exfil campers hard

Had first good game of dmz in ages last night, ended up in a 5 man squad, and was the target of a hunt contract.. 3 man squad rolled in on us in a armoured car, and immediately regretted it as all 5 of us opened up on them with lmgs haha

I personally play solo 90 percent of the time, for most of us those situations would have ended differently but what a fulfilling moment when you get the drop on a team. It's rare for me personally but what an accomplishment when it does happen

@Westie, I have to say that was some really good maneuvering... I know exactly how ya may have felt while doing this solo because I was was also in somewhat of a similar tight situation... I died a few times just being ambushed then lost all my stuff.. Then went in again and it seems now so many know this game well and it appears their goal is to always go for that one solo person just trying to make xfil.. So, Yea... It takes the fun out of it sometimes for me.. I guess if you have a good mood to go after these type of players it works out a a positive and its all fun... but some just really enjoyed their normal fight in and want to get out.... 😔

Can anyone else confirm that the gas masks were drastically nerfed, and the damage caused by gas drastically increased on April 10th? My team mate and I both burned through our masks in about 10 seconds and were downed in about 5 seconds in the gas (trying to exfil like Westie did). Durable gave only about 30 seconds of safety.

Dmz solo is alot of fun. Tense situations keep you on your feet and you actually think about where your going and what your doing being aware of all these teams running around. I have more then 100 extractions a newb team holds ya back

It would be a huge benefit to the solo community for you to produce more solo content and narrate with your tactical thoughts. There are a few good plyers who do this, but nowhere near enough.
I do sometimes play solo. It is definitely much more stressful when I do!

Why do you never pick up any guns from the bots?
I would think you’d grab a rpk or vaznev so that you would have a full auto gun in case someone pushed up on you full Salome style.
When I infil with two guns one of the things I do is grab the first halfway decent gun a bot drops. If anyone pushes my team in cqc a sniper will do me no good.
I usually do sniper and AR or maybe RPK/Sakin and 74u/chimera. Then as long as I have a med to lrg backpack I grab the first okay smg I find.
That way if anyone pushes I stow the sniper and have two full auto guns at the ready.
I see you and Stod do this all the time. You guys will have a slow lmg or long range AR and a sniper rifle.
Now I realize you guys are very good players and can likely out strat, out maneuver, out react, and out aim 90-95% of the operators in the game but why not set yourself up as much as reasonably possible for success?
Grab an smg/AR from a bot and store it. The gun costs nothing and simply could save your behind. Perhaps this is a noob approach and you guys are too good to incorporate this.
Anyway, just food for thought. Great video and commentary. Standing by for the next one. 👍🏼
