Indigo Bunting in Maine

  • Indigo buntings are fairly common in overgrown fields and regenerating clear cuts. This male was singing on his territory in an area that had been harvested a couple years ago. © 2012 Garth McElroy

    @ about 0:06 and @ about 0:23, there was a call in the background that wasn't the Bunting or Veery. I was wondering what it was

    i just spooked a flock of a bird that looks very similar to this guy!!! i've been through my entire bird book and the only two that fit colorwise are the Indigo Bunting and the Mountain Bluebird! But i'm in Maine so it probably wasn't the bluebird. do these guys travel in flocks? and is Maine a typical place for them to be in (a VERY mild) October?
