Great video, I was born in the Vron and spent my childhood playing at the Vron colliery air shafts and also being chased away from Plas Power and the brickyard. 😂 When I was in Tanyfron school back in the ‘70s, a local man, Robin Thomas came to school to talk about Plas Power and Vron collieries as he’d worked at both as a small boy and man. He told us how the collieries were linked purely to supply air. There were air shafts all around Tanyfron. He said Plas power was also linked to Broughton colliery.
My Taid worked at Plas Power, my Taid was one of 6 brothers were born on Llywellyn Road, Fron near the old Four winds pub,top end of Tan-y-Fron. Was at Plas Power till 1932 when my Tide met my Nain who was from by the Five Crosses in Coedpoeth, my Taid went to worked at Bersham Colliery, Rhostyllen and he was there till he retired in 1977,m my Taid and Nain lived at The Rock were my Dad was born and in the 1950's moved to Bryn Clwedog near the cemetry. They lived there till 1980 and moved to Fron Las till they past away in 1984, my Taid and my Nain 9 months later in 1985. I live less than a mile from the Plas power colliery in Pentre Broughton, thanks for this nice video
@@shaun30-3-mg9zs great bit of history there. We lived 2 doors away from the Four Winds pub. 👍 My family has roots in and around Tanyfron after my Taid moved to 14 Heol Offa in the Vron from the Moss just before the war started.

@@Killerclown667 Hi Mate, back in the schooldays in the 1980's I use to know a Jason Vernon a year or two younger than me. And any relation to the late Paul Vernon from Coed Efa
Reg Mason, was an ostler and Jack Salisbury was a fitter at Plas Power colliery before taking employment at Brymbo; Reg was the engineering managers clerk, Jack Salisbury worked both the loco shed and millwrights before becoming works chauffeur.
Fantastic video, great info 👍🏻 recently moved into the area and had been struggling to find any information. Do you have any on the branch railways in the area? Or any sources/books good for the local history
Flintshire archives will have the plans. I requested down loads of the branch lines to the Vron Colliery as well as the pit head plans, seam diagrams and land ownership around the colliery and the Vron itself. Only cost a couple of quid each.
Thank you.
