I do think we could do with a few more of those gritty-style ads to put the wind up is like they used to. I'm sure they saved a fair few lives over the years.
Hi Steve, great selection of adverts that are designed to make you think about the message, is it just me or have adverts like these declined, I can't remember when I last saw one on TV. 👍🏻
Some pretty powerful PIFS there, a few I'd either not seen or had forgot about. The government closed down the Central Office of Information who were responsible for all of the UK PIF's in 2011 as cost saving measure. The few PIFs made now are controlled by The Cabinet Office. I find the Ice one rather strange. They didn't want you swimming in rivers and lakes (which is still not a great idea), but skating on ice was fine?? Those AID's ones really scared me growing up. Even with the end of the COI, there is still enormous amounts of drink driving, and drug driving. I know as I work for the MOJ. The least you can expect for such offences is a driving ban. Which means if you to drive for work, you're proper in trouble. It's not like these things don't happen anymore.
Bloody nora, did they show that AIDS ad on primetime TV? It's very well directed, but that's pretty strong stuff while you're waiting for Corrie to start
I wonder what public information films would be like today, beware moped riders snatching your bag or mobile phone, wear a stab proof vest when venturing into parts of London, beware random terrorist attacks etc, looking back how innocent those times seem now.
Indeed, there are lots of new things out there that are crying out for PIFS. Sadly, the Coalition government that came in 2010, closed down the COI (Central Office of Information) that used to make all of these PIFS from 1946 onwards. You'll only get the odd PIF now and again from the likes of the Home Office, The Highways Office and what not. Nothing like there used to be. When the COI closed, their remit transferred over to the Cabinet Office. I'm not 100% sure, but I think Drink Driving seems to have come down somewhat, I could be wrong though. I know that Drug driving is definitely on the increase though.
"See you clunk clicker" 😂 what a sign off!
Oh dear he is DEAD😂😂
Not seen the AIDS one in years, that really spooked me as a kid.
I always liked the animation in the "Trouble At The Seaside" PIF.
Reminds me of the same style of artwork you'd get in old safety pamphlets.
Another instant classic in the books, great job Steve 👍🏽😎👍🏽
Remember the 'Angry Fireman' PIF, really powerful.
He is right too.
Fab compilation Steve. That HIV ad scared me to death. All proper informative ads. Should bring them back.

11:31 - I had a terrible problem with bullying at my school, it got so bad that I had to change schools. I ran out of victims at my first one.
It really spooked me as well especially since I had autism and Asperger’s syndrome it related to me too
Ahhhh, memories! 😊😊
True classics here
0:45 or you could just stay off the fucking ice! 🥶
That was what I thought too! 😂

I can't remember either. I suspect the governing bodies may no longer be willing to spend the budget like they used to back then.
2:42 - ‘People can get into all sorts of trouble at the seaside’ - I know, my case comes up next week.
"You can trust a shop assistant, someone behind a cash till, a policeman, a security guard, a 70s DJ, TV presenter, err...err..."
😂😂
Yes because doesn’t that contradict stranger danger advice in a way ?
11:11 - ‘Every five minutes someone’s badly burnt at home’ - That must be a VERY clumsy person!

Pretty standard for the current government .. cut costs at the expense of, umm.. public safety? 🙄
Also wasn’t donor card ad narrated by Chris tenant a.k.a who wants to be a millionaire host
Yeah, definitely.
Alr thanks dude keep making these compilations thank you!! ❤️
Sadly. Mike Smith required the emergency services when he crashed his helicopter.

Think it was a late night broadcast.
We had a freaky AIDS psa here in Australia in the late 1980’s, it featured a group of Grim Reapers bowling people over in a bowling alley.
Is it just me or does it just seem wrong to draw the children smiling after some of them basically drowned in an ice-cold pond?
Totally, and wrong in general really .. ok kids - go play on the frozen pond!
Second clunk click is in Newcastle im in Gateshead
My family were all from the Gateshead area originally, until my mum & dad moved 'doon sooth' before I was born.

7:15Innocent times?
The drunk driving ad made me think that the same thing would apply today to texting and driving
I’m a bit surprised there wasn’t a whole tranche of them everywhere over Covid
