How to Water & Fertilize Haworthias

How to Water and Fertilize Haworthias.
Add the Fertilizer and Hormex (Growth Hormone) in the water before watering the Haworthias:
1. Get a Gallon Container
2. Add 1 gram of fertilizer
3. Add 16 drops of Hormex
4. Fill the container with Water
As you fill up the container witb water, it mixes the fertilizer, Hormex and the water.
When watering Haworthias, thoroughly wet the soilmix until the water exits the drain holes of the pot.
The soilmix should completely dry out after 3 days then wait for another 3 days before watering again. This is known as the “3 days wet, 3 days dry rule” or basically water them once a week 😊
Water at night since it’s cooler and Haworthias take in water and absorbs surrounding carbon dioxide during night time.
on the side note:
Haworthias will eventually root by itself, but if you want to hustle the rooting process. You can place a party cup with holes on the top a day after watering to keep the moisture longer

The cup for holding humidity is genius. Sounds like a good way to help dehydrated hawos too. I personally use coco peat, carbonized rice hull and vermicast as my soil mix. And I'm super happy with the results.

1. Do you fertilize if there is already osmocote in the akadama?
2. What is your tray setup? How do you drink the water afterward?

1. yes, I have osmocote already under the akadama.. osmocote is a slow release fertilizer but in my experience it’s too slow.. I don’t really see significant improvement in growth using it or not.. thus, I won’t use it in the future.
2. I use a dish drying tray so it has grooves that separates the pot from the excess water that exits the drain holes of the pot.. if the excess water is too much.. I use a turkey baster to remove the excess water.
the dish drying tray will be shown on my next video since I will show how to build a Haworthia rack with artificial lighting 😊

Sir, you mentioned that you are using the 3day method. May I know if you are using pure akadama, since in my experience, pure akadama does not dry within 3days.

my soilmix under the pure fine akadama toppings is 50 percent kanuma and 50 percent akadama and some are 50 percent pumice and 50 percent akadama..
I have 2 fans that are open 10 hours during the day and 10 hours during night time. I’m doing this since I’m keeping them indoors with no nearby windows to provide air circulation.
I have replaced pumice with kanuma since akadama and pumice dries up to quickly in my set up. pure akadama 3-6mm dries up too quickly in my experience, the finer the size the longer it dries up.

I used to use pure 3mm aka. Changes to 3mm aka.pum. since pure 3mm aka dries too slow. As time past by, I changed to my own soil mix to have higher CEC and root PEN, and disregarded the 3-3 rule.
