Glad you had such a wonderfully fun birthday celebration. Fountain pens are extra special with care & attention needs! Says one who did the very same thing when I started using them in high school. (You know, the age where you know everything and no one can tell/teach you otherwise? Yep, that was me.) I found out after I tossed them! I know you will create beautiful things with the confidence you have always had, Laquisha!
Honestly, you don't clean normal pens (gel, ballpoint), so not realizing you have to clean fountain pens is entirely valid! I probably would've thought the same since I only used disposables before getting my first "real" fountain pen had a friend of mine who also likes them not mentioned it! I had no idea about putting ink back into the bottle being bad! I always do this and never thought about it. I'll stop doing that going forward now, thank you for sharing some of your new knowledge, it's really helpful! I've been using fountain pens for a year and I didn't even know that.
This was a fun watch. I've gotten to the point where I can't justify any more pens so now I'm into inks. In order to not contaminate my ink bottles, I have a few sample vials that I use to hold ink that I removed from pens. I put all the blues together, all the greens, et cetera, and I use those inks in my dip pens to do art with. Nothing is wasted.
So clever! Someone recently shared sample vials as a way to save ink-thank you for sharing! I understand about the pens… I’m still trying to decide which one to ink first from the haul, lol! 😅

If you don't want to throw away the rest of the ink in your pen but want to change colors, you could empty it into a sample vial. It's still usable, it's in a container you can see through and check before inking a pen with it (including a sniff test), and it doesn't contaminate your whole ink bottle. I don't do it often, but I have done it a couple times without issue. As for the not cleaning your pens thing... It's not necessarily obvious that it's necessary, so unless you're told, why would you know? It's why pen cleaning is something I stress with folks I get into the hobby. But... tbh... I don't always do it if I'm putting more of the same color in lol. (it's such a shame it led to you leaving your pen for years, though, considering how easy a fix it is (and how easy the problem was to spot for someone who knows as soon as you started talking about just swapping cartridges)) It was good to hear your experiences - I'm starting to regret not having requested the weekend of the local show off when I had the chance. Ah well, I guess there's always next year.
I appreciate you sharing this!! Omgoodness, I definitely thought I either need to use or lose my ink-thank you for the sample vial suggestion! 😮💨 #ImStillLearning 🤣 Thank you for this perspective! I did see a few posts in a FB group about people cleaning their pens but they didn’t say I HAD to clean them-I thought this was something more established FP owners did. I was also scared if I took mine apart I wouldn’t know how to put them back together, lol. So I really, REALLY appreciate the “how would you know” thought. 🙏🏽 I hope I can meet you at an event in the future-you sound like my kind of people! 🙌🏽💜

Hi Rachelle! I did have to pay for the calligraphy class ($70) but the rest of the classes I took were free with reservation-until filled! When is the Portland OR show? I’m excited for you! 🥳✒️
What a great video! Thank You for sharing your experiences 🙂. I am a complete newbie to fountain pens, but I am slowly getting hooked. I enjoy journaling with just a touch of creativity and the fountain pens have really upped that game and made it even more enjoyable. The pens you got at the show are beautiful (I loved the purple one)! The tiny pens were cute, but I'd like to know how someone actually writes with one of those!! I have big hands and I don't see that being an easy task! I have looked for pen shows in my area, but unfortunately there isn't much (I'm in a very rural area). I would love to go to one......and I will keep looking as maybe one day there will be one close enough to be doable.
I enjoyed your enthusiasm. Be careful, or you'll wind up with so many pens that it will be hard to decide which one to write with. I got some glitter ink as a free sample and I won't use that kind or ink (shimmer either) because it plugged the feed; I had a hard time cleaning the pen afterward. Good luck with your calligraphy. I'm no good at it, so I gave up. I admire people who are good at it.
I think you mean converter, not cartridge. A cartridge is a pre-filled plastic ink storage thing-y 😅 Thank you for letting me know not to put ink back into the bottle, done it in the past.
You tickle me bc you get tickled talking about the pens. I love writing utensils (it can be embarassing if someone needs a pen and you pull out a suitcase full of them 😂). You have some lovely pens though!
🤣 Thank you, sweet friend! I was absolutely tickled! And Debbie, not only pull out a suitcase, but also dig through them to find the ONE they can borrow, lol. 😂
I laughed out loud when you said you hadn’t cleaned your pens ever. I’m sitting here with ink on my hands after squeezing a cartridge too hard! We all do silly things 😂 Thank you for the charm and chuckle! (It’s abalon-ee. Long e. But glamorous moon is WAY better!)

@@drawinsscribblins5326 I can’t wait to see your haul! 😍
This video is so relatable! Thank you!
Ohhhh, how I appreciate you!!! 🙌🏽🙏🏽😅
And speaking about Little Rock, they will have a pen show March 22-24 that will be my first pen show.
Wow!! Have a blast!! Will you also visit the Vanness Pen Shop?
I love your new japanese pen pouch. Could you share the brand or link please?
Thank you! The case is from Pen Realm: www.penrealm.com/product/japanese-cloth-pen-pouch-4-pen-slots/
So enjoyed this. I’m ordering 2 of the puchico as gifts for my nieces. Can you share the name of your colorful pen case?
Yay, they will love those mini FPs! The case is from Pen Realm: www.penrealm.com/product/japanese-cloth-pen-pouch-4-pen-slots/
Looks you have an amazing time.
I truly, truly did! 🙏🏽🥳
(it's such a shame it led to you leaving your pen for years, though, considering how easy a fix it is (and how easy the problem was to spot for someone who knows as soon as you started talking about just swapping cartridges))
It was good to hear your experiences - I'm starting to regret not having requested the weekend of the local show off when I had the chance. Ah well, I guess there's always next year.
I appreciate you sharing this!! Omgoodness, I definitely thought I either need to use or lose my ink-thank you for the sample vial suggestion! 😮💨 #ImStillLearning 🤣
Thank you for this perspective! 🙏🏽
I hope I can meet you at an event in the future-you sound like my kind of people! 🙌🏽💜
Hopefully we can make it to the same event one day, that would be delightful 😊
I want to go to this year’s DC pen show, it’d be my first one. I’m unsure of what’s the best day to go or try all 3 days
I haven’t been but heard it’s 3 times the size of the Baltimore show. For that reason (and because stationery day is that Saturday), I’m only going on Friday, lol.
Oh what’s stationary day? O;
@@GrawRious Sorry, it’s Stationery STORE Day and it’s celebrated every year on the first Saturday in August. Stationery stores will participate on August 3rd this year and I’m going to the Paper Herald in Baltimore.
BINGO found a show coming to Dallas in September ❤
Uhhhh ohhh, lol!! It’s ON NOW, queen!!! 😆🤣
Enjoy Dallas, it is the best deal in pen shows. Dromgools is probably the best pen shop in the US.
Are you going to the DC Pen show?
I am!! Only that Friday… 🙏🏽 You?
Watching!👀 (I’ll be back for comments!😜)💜💙
😂😅🎉
I haven't been into fountain pens for long but I am definitely going to the Portland Oregon pen show just to take some classes. Do you have to pay for the classes in advance? Rachelle in Seattle
Hi Rachelle! I did have to pay for the calligraphy class ($70) but the rest of the classes I took were free with reservation-until filled! When is the Portland OR show? I’m excited for you! 🥳✒️
@@ConfidentCanvas The Portland Oregon pen show is July 11th....I can't wait
Can you tell me where you got that beautiful blue pen case please?
Yes, it’s from Pen Realm: www.penrealm.com/product/japanese-cloth-pen-pouch-4-pen-slots/
@@ConfidentCanvas Thank you s much
What a great video!
Hey dear! Thanks for watching! How far are you willing to travel to attend a show?
Where did you get your new pen case?
I got it from @penrealm!
Who made the new pen pouch you bought?
It’s from @penrealm8345 but I am unsure of the specific designer’s name. If I see a tag inside, I’ll let you know!
Thank you!
Thank you!! We will see if I can be good at calligraphy, lol! 😅
I think you mean converter, not cartridge. A cartridge is a pre-filled plastic ink storage thing-y 😅 Thank you for letting me know not to put ink back into the bottle, done it in the past.
Yes, I meant converter… thanks for the clarification.
Also, try using empty sample vials for used ink. 🙏🏽
Wow. I always save my ink lol.
You can still save it, just don’t mix it with your fresh ink! Someone suggested putting the used ink in sample vials… hope this helps! 🫶🏽
Thanks!
💜
Me too. I want to learn copperplate.
I’m practicing… 😮💨😮💨😮💨
Hi, can you give me name of tiny pens? There so cute!
Hi! They are the first 2 pens linked in my description (the Wanchers). Let me know if you don’t see them!
beautiful spring colors!
Thank you! 🍃🌸🍃
Girl you need some color. lol. I’m commenting as I watch the video. 😂

We all do silly things 😂
Thank you for the charm and chuckle!
