This performance - "Crow" - from Diana is just insanely good! It is one of her best performances during this show. It gave me some vibes of "Rechenka" with a with a finishing touch of "Human". No surprise she won this round of the show. I've also heard the original by Linda which wasn't bad by the way but as always Diana simply took this song to another level. She's really out of this world! Yes, Diana compressed this song somewhat but that just made it better because the last one to one and a half minutes of the original song were just more or less repetitives and also the intro took about thirty seconds. Diana's version is much more intense and captivating.

It still amazes me that a child who lived in a state run institution for abused and neglected children has turned out to be such a Super Star. There was no reason to believe when her step mother adopted Diana that she would turn out to be such a wonderful young women. Diana had everything going against her at a very young age. But Diana has managed with the help, love and support of her step mother to not only overcome her past but to sky rocket to stardom.

"I am not like you": "Someone shot and wanted to scare. I am sitting and will not stand. I am not them, I am like a crow." In the cover, Diana was dressed in white. And she is a WHITE CROW. In Russian, WHITE CROW is a metaphor. The WHITE CROW is called the one who is too different from his surroundings. It got a double meaning. At the end of the song, the "flock" puts on a black robe on Diana. The question is - what did the director want to say?

It still amazes me that a child who lived in a state run institution for abused and neglected children has turned out to be such a Super Star. There was no reason to believe when her step mother adopted Diana that she would turn out to be such a wonderful young women. Diana had everything going against her at a very young age. But Diana has managed with the help, love and support of her step mother to not only overcome her past but to sky rocket to stardom.
Regarding symbolism in the performance of "Crow", we in the West may be missing a different concept or meaning of the white crow as understood by those of Russian or Slavic origin. Many years ago, at the height of the Cold War, another famous Russian defected to the West in 1961 for freedom of artistic creativity and lifestyle but not necessarily political freedoms. That person was Rudolf Khametovich Nureyev, a famous Russian ballet dancer. The story of his life and in particular before and up to his defection is depicted by a movie entitled "The White Crow" which is how Nureyev is sometimes referred to as he was someone who never seemed to be one who was willing to just follow the rules or go with the flow, and his talents were obviously so much greater than those around him. Diana is one of those whose talents seem so much greater than any of her kind, and her vocal ability and understanding of the emotions of the song don't seem to follow the paths trodden by others. Hopefully she will not need to endure banishment from her own people to be able to freely show her talents to the World.

maybe here in Russia we have some problems with Freedom of self-expression for artists...but i can recall Petr Pavlesky ,a contemporary artist,his perfomances like nailing his balls to Red Square and so on ...he did almost everything what he wanted...he fleed to France and recieved a political asylum there...but after some perfomaces in France they put him in a jail...so where is more freedom? here or there? how to judge?
