Why Accelevents Chose to Buy - Not Build - In-App Chat

Accelevents, a leading virtual event platform, required a seamless in-app chat to deliver an unparalleled experience to event attendees. But while the company’s engineers could have built a basic messaging functionality, CEO Jonathan Kazarian chose to integrate the Stream Chat API for rapid deployment and focused developer resources.
Here, Kazarian shares why Stream is an integral part of the Accelevents tech stack.

“When it comes to creating immersive virtual events, engagement is key. And chat is a huge component of the way that folks are engaging with content, with the speakers. As we thought about what we can do to build a platform that provides the best user experience for our customers, we wanted to focus on the area where we can create differentiated experiences.
When it came ot something like chat, we knew that ultimately we could have got there, we could have built solutions that would have worked using existing AWS tech stacks, but it would have required so many more resources we could have positioned elsewhere. And then there’s the aspect of continued innovation, where we would have to be the ones pioneering all of that. In this case, it made more sense to partner with someone who was able to deliver that for us and continue to listen to our feedback as well. Ultimately, integrating Stream Chat has been a great decision for us.”
