No one gets in foul trouble guarding Bueckers because the refs never call a foul on her opponents. She get beat up every game and get 2 to 4 foul shots. Its ridiculous. Every time Clark hit the floor it was 2 foul shots. Paige picks herself up all night long fore her 2 free throws.
Nothing new under the sun; This situation dates back to her freshman year. And the year Paige was out it was Lou Senechal's turn to get roughed up with the approval of the refs
I almost agree except Kennedi plays tough defense and 3rd leading scorer. Overall they are evenly matched except Kiki will be the X factor for the win for USC. Juju needs a huge win. She also needs to get the back against Paige. Let’s go USC!!
I'm not sure it's that simple. Paige definitely doesn't get reffing always on her side and I understand the frustration completely but last year she averaged 4 ft attempts per game and caitlin avg 6. it's not a terrible disparity, you've seen how much raw driving to the basket caitlin did and how many more FGA she had. She's averaging 2 now but there's no way now to compare it to her lol.
With or without Azzi-- and I don't know about her-- it boils down to who shows up. If we see the team that played ND, when we couldn't buy a three, we lose. If the team that played Iowa State does, when they set a record for threes, we win. But it's personalities, too. There are four players that might go off: Paige and Sarah (OK, five; maybe Ashlynn too) for us and Juju and Kiki for them. Any of them could uncork a 30 or 35 point game. Perhaps more than one of them. But that's the way the basketball bounces sometimes. For us, the outside game is critical. They are taller than us inside, unless and until Jana shows up. But that probably won't be this year; certainly not this game. We don't have to set the world on fire like we did last game, but we need to be consistent and a threat. For USC, still critical but less so. It's good (for USC, anyway) Juju has been working on her left hand, We shut her down last time trying to go right. By the time she figured out what to do, it was too late. I don't know about the ultimate showdown, or the game of the century, but it should be a good one. Let's hope Azzi comes back, and Ash keeps going. Having another scorer or two will be helpful.
Wow as aware Juju Watkins turned her ankle. I suspect she will play though. I’m still worried abt their front court vs. ours but I’m keeping my fingers crossed. However, I’m beginning to think that UCONN will just pull it off. Btw love this excellent detailed review. Keep up the great work. You essentially convinced me why UCONN will take this one.
Yes, even with JuJu playing, UConn has to be the heavy favorite here. It's a home game for them, and Sara Strong has been playing lights out. Losing this would be something of a disaster for the Huskies, given that they'll only play two more ranked teams before March. It would likely cause them to fall off the one line in whichever bracket they end up being assigned to. On the other hand, if they win this and beat Tennessee, they'll almost certainly be a one seed in Birmingham, regardless of what happens in Colonial Life Arena in February.
I think UConn should win this one. Home court advantage. And they have been the more polished of the two teams so far this season. Iriafen or Juju could carry USC though. So, it should be interesting.
Honestly I think Caroline is on the team to get her degree. I do not see her playing basketball again. UConn is going to need production from Jana and Ice. Will definitely be at the game tomorrow.
If Ice and Jenna plays good and makes a couple shots, we will be fine. My opinion I don't think kiki can hold up against good play and pressure. I could be wrong..
The focus will be on Paige and Sarah versus JuJu and Kiki, but the outcome will likely be on how the others play. Will Geno focus on playing 6 or 7 for 190+. Will Azzi play?
UCONN 83 USC 74 don't know how bad JUJU injury is but im sure she will stick it out and it's a game she doesn't want to miss however all it takes on UCONN is one or two other players to get hot defensively and offensively other than Paige and Sara some nights you don't know who these players are.
The main question is, will Ju Ju play? The next question is, if she does play, how effective will she be if her ankle is still bothering her? Without knowing the answer to these questions, I would stay away from betting on this one. Too many unknowns. It would be extremely interesting to see how the Trojans play without her. You are right when you said, "Ju Ju always gets her points," and that is the problem with that team. Ju Ju will force a lot of bad shots to get her points, even if it costs her team the game.
said this before the season, will say it again now. Best team on paper (healthy), Notre Dame. Best overall team = Cocks. Champs = Cocks, no brainer. Nope, it ain't UCLA.
UCONN will win. Better coach and smarter players. USC has not gotten better in anyway shape or form since last season. In fact, they look worse. UCONN will win by 10+
That’s a ridiculous statement. What exactly is based on? That implies Hannah both i) makes her team worse with the way she plays and ii) she doesn’t look to get her teammates open shots. But both are false. Hannah is the key driver of why Notre Dane wins and is so good. She averages the same amount of assists as Paige. And when she plays point like she did last year she averaged 6 apg and when she plays point this year (like when Olivia got injured in the UConn game) she had 8 assists in a win. What makes Notre Dame exciting to watch is that you can see Hannah and Allivia looking to set each other up as well as setting up the other players like Citron.
Please don't say that. No one knows what's going on in anyone else's head unless they say something. I LOVE UConn and I love Juju - and Hannah too. Just because a team beats ours doesn't make them bad. These are 99.9% awesome young women on all the teams. And they go out every night trying to kill themselves to keep theirs teams in it until March. I feel for Juju because for 2 years now she's had to carry too much of a load for her team to win. Regardless of the outcome, she has my respect.
@@SinisterAristotle I agree with most of what you say, not saying she is a bad player. She is obviously a very different player than Paige. HH plays at warp speed more interested in scoring than running the team, more in the scheme of Clark. While I enjoy watching both and appreciate the skill of both, neither is my style of play.
Try again. And I'm not even going to mention the results of the game. They're different players. A lot of the Juju criticism got stood on its head as she got the best of Paige. Doing what many claimed she couldn't/wouldn't. Created offense for teammates. HH is simply the most impactful player on both ends of the court in college WBB. Opposing fans ain't gonna like her. But they'll never forget her.
Azzi Fudd has played in a grand total of 47 games in her 4 year college career. If UConn fans are expecting her to play in let alone be a key contributor during the 9 consecutive games it will take to win the Big East championship and NCAA championship then it’s probably a fool’s errand. What is the probability she is even able to play 9 games in a row this year given her injury history and her latest non-contact injury (the scariest kind)?

for real paige's lack of whistled is so frustrating, as it's actually dangerous too.

@@VegasCanuck-h2u that’s true but ESPN been wrong before.
If UConn rolls into the tournament with 2 loses (ND & SC) they will absolutely be a 1-seed. It gets hairy if they lose at home to USC.
I personally believe it’s 50/50. As a USC fan I want them to win, but they are still working out some kinks. But I still think it can go either way.
I think UConn should win this one. Home court advantage. And they have been the more polished of the two teams so far this season. Iriafen or Juju could carry USC though. So, it should be interesting.
UCONN are frauds 😂😂😂😂
UConn’s current SOS is #13 USC’s is #87 I think that will reel its head in this game tomorrow at some point. UConn has been more challenged thus far.
Honestly I think Caroline is on the team to get her degree. I do not see her playing basketball again. UConn is going to need production from Jana and Ice. Will definitely be at the game tomorrow.
Caroline is done. Geno might sub her in for senior night, but that's it.

Tennessee will beat UConn before UConn comes to CLA.

Fix the title, but good breakdown!

Is UCONN known as injury university now? They have been getting injured ever since they lost to Carolina about five years ago.
What I'm seeing right now is that this game is only to be seen on Fubo! Is that correct?
NO! Don't do it! LOL
Seriously, Fox is broadcasting it.
