      Sure it is, the Wix was made on Oct.20th, 2018 and the Baldwin was made on Sep.16th, 2019.

    I’d probably go with the Baldwin because of the extra filter media and lower price but I’d have no problem running both

    My cars don't see 3K miles in a year. I change every 6 months before summer and then before winter and I would run either. Personally I like a bigger filter if I can run it so I would probably go with the Baldwin simply on that factor.

    Hard to say with this one... Baldwin much larger obviously more surface area better filtration but inlet holes small and nitrile rubber versus silicone. Also Baldwin used loovers versus holes and Wix had mesh backing.
    I think if Baldwin upgraded to mesh larger inlet holes and silicone anti drainback valves theyd be superior.
    Id go with Wix this time. 👍

    • @Andrew__Smith
      @Andrew__Smith 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The area of the inlet openings is more than enough for the throughput of this filter. Second: on this car, the filter is installed with holes to the top, so an anti-drain valve in this case is not needed at all !!!

    • @WhipCityWrencher
      @WhipCityWrencher  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@WhipCityWrencher No. *B1431* is a _longer version_ of a *B1402* . In this vehicle you can install even much longer filter ~ 250 mm or 10 inches.

      @WhipCityWrencher  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Andrew__Smith Yep I understand, Manufactures recommend a certain size but sometimes other bigger filters will fit. I'm not sure why they do this? I'm guessing it's easier to say this one filter fits all these cars?

      @sardekar 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BW-kv9wj the badwin is using a cellulose media. the reason the wix has the wire backing is that the synthetic needs the support or it will disintegrate. I didnt pay for your engine, so i dont want to tell you what to do, but there really isn't a reason to only use synthetic media filters over cellulose except for preference. one isnt inherent better than the other of they are built correctly. I would guess that even though the baldwin has way more media area, the capacity is only slightly better just looking at size. That synthetic is going to catch a lot more dirt per square inch but there is a lot more paper.

    This isn't an exact filter comparison. The Baldwin 1431 is an over sized filter. Baldwin 1402 would be the direct comparison to the Wix 51356. That being said, Baldwins are very good filters for the price.

    Ignore those sparkles. Remember you cut those metal covers apart, so I would bet any metal you see is from you cutting those filters apart. Also think about this. Thicker media is not always best. Oil needs to pass through efficiently and if the media is too thick, it may struggle to do its job. I will stick with my go to Wix filters.
