I booked a trip from Seattle to London on Iceland air for Christmas of 2022 because the fare was so cheap, plus I had layovers of a few hours going over and back, so I hoped to have a little bit of time to see at least some of Reykjavik.. ...Then the blizzard of 2020 hit.... My flight was cancelled the day before I was scheduled to leave (which turned out to be fortunate, because Keflavik was soon overwhelmed). Getting through to Icelandair customer service was a nightmare, but they managed to get me booked on a JetBlue flight the next day. On the return trip, the flight was delayed, so out of a total of 9 hours on both legs I had slated to spend in Iceland, I got 20 minutes in the airport on the way home. I saw more of the airport in your video than I did by actually BEING there..LOL On the plus side, the return flight from Gatwick to Keflavik, then Keflavik to SeaTac were two of the smoothest, most comfortable flights I've ever had in my life. Hopefully I'll get a chance to see more of Iceland at some point. I hear it's really beautiful.
Haven't been the past few years but earlier had done many middle-of-the-night stopovers, always dreading them because there were so few services available. For example, you couldn't even find a book to read that wasn't in Icelandic. Wiki says there are about. 380,000 people who speak Icelandic and presumably most of them would be home and not at the airport, yet there we were, from all over world, treated to reading materials only in Icelandic. I hope the geniuses running things have improved on that.
