My son has been on probation for almost 2 yrs cause he was caught with a bag of weed. Since then they have been harrassing him and me. They put so much on him now that he is almost 17 they have messed with him and it's kept him on this ridiculous rollar coaster and he hasn't even been back to.school since cause they won't let him back in. He is a great boy, a hard worker and very respectful. The Justice system is completely fixed. I went to prison for something that wasn't violent and it was because I violated probation. My kids and I have had enough of this unjust system that targets the not wealthy ppl.

Crystal -- Your story touched my heart. I thought you might know that it ain't over yet. You can help your young man continue his studies at home. He can study through Kahn Academy on TH-cam until he's through advanced algebra, and I believe they also have an English course. There are plenty of other sources on TH-cam to learn history. After six months of serious, focused effort, have him take the GED, which he will pass easily, then have him enroll in a junior or community college. From there, the sky's the limit, he will actually be more advanced than his peers who stayed in school. Don't let him make excuses, just plunge ahead, and good luck to you both.

I enjoy when Trevor finds somebody uncultured or he apposes what someone represents he'll constantly go at them with the questions that need to be answered but when he truly respects someone especially in the African American community he allows them to speak fully and use his platform to reach an audience a lot of rappers, athletes, and other celebrities aren't used to. That's dope .

G I agree a little with the point you are trying to bring up, however I disagree with some of your points after reading Trevor's book. He did stay in jail (not prison) for a few days in South Africa. It's a bit of a long story, but I do think he should have been more serious when he talked about Sweden.

I never payed much attention to him as an actual person but Meek seems to have an endearing, honest, disposition. I hope his goals are accomplished to help others in similar situations.

Part of his efforts and public speaking should also be about how Court Judges abuse their power over defendants and those on probation, as he has had first-hand experience with that ongoing problem.
I'm from California, here in my county the incarceration rate is at 97% if your case is being handled by a public defender you'll likely be told this, take the plea deal or else if you lose you might be receiving double the time . The justice system is like an assembly line to keep private prisons at max capacity, owners like the geo group here in California get 63,000 dollars for each inmate per year. In the end its not about the protection of society as to why privately owned prison exist, its all about corporate greed and how our tax payer dollars are being funneled into a human cattle business.

I was on probation for 5 years (never had been in trouble) and they made me do EVERY MINUTE of it!🤔 the justice system makes A LOT of money keeping people on probation.

Doing 24 days in jail for a "false" report, (my first offense, I sat bc I couldnt afford the 5k bail), I lost my job, my housing I waited YEARS to get, my relationship, and my health (got a tooth abscess, cracked my front bottom tooth, and ended up in a coma for a few days from seizures bcthey refused to give me my epilepsy meds). Jail/prison ruins lives.

I was sooo moved by Meek Mills’ story. I’m glad he’s using his platform to inform others. While watching his story it reminded me of another Netflix story about a young black man faced in a similar situation. However, that story was about the Correction Dept. That story showed the abuse BY Correction Officers as well as the fights he had with other inmates. ....I paused typing this comment to google the name of that movie. I didn’t find it. If I’m not mistaken, it played on Netflix around 2017? I’ll continue to look for it in the meantime. UPDATE...The name of the movie is called The Kalief Browder Story. As a matter of fact Jay Z met with him as well. ***WARNING***it was a little difficult for me to watch, Just a heads up.
The difference between making a mistake and committing a crime is lost on so many. Meek really brought the eloquence to this discussion and I'm incredibly happy he can finally take his kid to Disney any time little man wants to go.

Yaaay I am so glad to see him out of probation and I am glad he's helping out other people with the problems of the justice system. I really hope his and whoever is going to be president next (not Trump) will be able to rectify this issue

My nephew had a minor DUI from 16 that was kept on his record. He took care of all his responsibilities yet the DUI didn't fall off until 25. This could've caused him more issues than he had like Meek but thank God.
Who at 16 made mistakes that you wouldn't at 25? Our system sucks. Reform is necessary

Thousands of people get put on probation and have no problem i dont see how this is such an accomplishment. I was on for one year did it and done and no one came up to me say great job good for you you LEARNED TO FOLLOW THE LAW. If you dont break the law you wouldn't have trouble that simple saying well i made a mistake well NO SHIT thats why your on probation. Im so sick of these sob stories and then were supposed to congratulate the individual for what doing what all other law abiding citizens are doing! Give me a break!!! Im all for helping the falsely accused the people who have been wronged but if you break the law dont be surprised that you have to go through some tough shit to make up for it. Did he realize he accepted an extremely long probation instead of jail time lol. Gotta be shittin me. Its not perfect but basically hes unhappy with the deal he accepted where many would prefer 10x probation then jail time
