I’m about to cut my wife’s hair for the first time since COVID hit. The three fundamentals and sectioning have been very helpful. Mr. Carruthers’ explanations have been the clearest I’ve seen. Thank You! Wish me luck!
I'm not a hairstylist, but I am really thankful for this video (and all the rest), and for the knowledge you all share with us! It helps that the videos are well-produced, clear, and straightforward. Thank you to all who have a part in this channel!
hey guys! just started my hairdressing apprenticeship and these three elements are the three things i really needed to understand and i found no one was able to explain it to me the way you just did. thankyou so much. cheers
He said "and if you found something helpful" like there's any other option. Hi im andrew Carruthers, AKA The walking haircutting encyclopedia!!! Dude, i just love your energy, your always so calm yet blissful and stoic. I need to adopt more of that energy for sure! (mental note: begin the "Carruthers" resolution you just thought of and add info to your calendar...... Oh and get a calendar. Noted!) Your amazing and if you didn't learn something from this video, its possible you may have become complacent cuz in this business we should never stop learning! ! Thank you for all you do for us students, especially during this whole distance learning thing, which may i note isn't a good look for cosmos worldwide, and for those of us who have been in the business for years but always willing to learn new things we are all so truly grateful for your service!! You are an absolute god send! I mean your always there for us when we need you and totally calm, giving us face girl to the cam. The way you perfectly articulate yourself while simultaneously hypnotizing us into our daily mediation! ! Cheers to you good sir, you are a gem!!!! Stay amazing and stay cool brother!!
I am not a professional stylist, but I am grateful for you being the Bruce Lee of the hair styling world and opening a door to secret knowledge for the common man. I have no intention of going to school, but would LOVE to end my lifelong frustration of not only not being able to tell a stylist what I want, but make sure I can see it happens. Bless you!
Dude this video series could replace half a year or more of studies. All the foundations explained quickly and geometrically. Kind of feels like you’re giving out all the secrets and the beauty schools are going to try to shut this channel down!
i watched your entire videos on elevation, over direction and finger angle and it helped me so much! thank you so much for posting this video and please keep adding more.
Learning about the foundations will help me communicate when getting a hair cut. I have frustrated myself and many stylists because I have trouble describing what I'd like to achieve. Although these stylists did an amazing job, the hair cuts were layered too dramatically in length for what I wanted. I knew each time it was because I had described what I wanted in a confusing way. This video will help me be a better customer. Thanks so much.
Thank you Andrew for this series. You are a gifted and deeply knowledgeable teacher. Your pace of speaking is excellent, and the simultanious using of your hands to show the visual meaning of what you are saying, makes understanding the concept 1000x easier. This is how education needs to be. Thank you for adding value to the world!
Thanks for this video! I was able to transform my blunt haircut into cute layers that falls away from my face. It is truly all in the way you angle your fingers, very helpful!
Sooo Grateful for this video series! Thank you very much! I am not a hairstylist but have often wondered and visualized how my hair would fall if I cut it at different angels. This is beneficial for me when I trim my own hair, but it also helps me with being able to communicate with my hairstylist what shape I’m looking for with naturally curly hair! Thank you again.
Thank you so much for explaining these three important things about haircutting so great! I just finished my apprenticeship and have so much to learn yet. Your channel is a big help!
I am so lucky I found your videos!!! I love them and I am continuously learning from all of you. I wish I can be part of your team. Thanks so much to all of you. This was one of my dreams to learn all about the hair and now I have all the time to do it. Thanks
Love u guys, great work,m learning haircutting in a salon ,but he does not teach me in this simpler ways, very valuable information guys, thanks a lot,may god bless you.
Very good videos about the foundations. When u dont fully understand the basics its hard to really do haircuts. I think his why a lot of people afraid of haircutting in school
I love your videos. Specially on hair cutting! I'm about to graduate beauty school and most of my hair cuts are clipper cuts. I have to watch your videos to keep myself fresh till I do get out there and frankly I'm kinda scared. But that ok it we make discoveries not mistakes. But please any little tips or tricks help so much! Thank you so much Sam and Andrew!!
Thank you so much for these 3 fundamental videos. They are super helpful. However I have to say: i'd love you guys to make a similar type of video about sectioning. That's where I get confused. Cheers.
great Video 😀thank you so much!! I am not a professional hairstylist, but I cut hairs and I am longing to learn so much more. You guys are explaining soooo good! I have a question: layering curly hair, is it better horizontal or vertical cut?
This is really helpful, thank you! One question, when would you choose to change finger angle over elevation/overdirection? You say they basically control the same thing in the end (moving density to the top/bottom or front/back) of the head. So how do you decide which to change?

Hi Prince. We are working on a very detailed cutting system that will dive much deeper into those specifics. Stay Tuned!
Thanks sir
At minute 4 he said very important words
I'm supposed to read a Cosmetology Book right now but I just said "Fuk it! TH-cam!"
Because that is how twelve year old minds work.
Wow!
I need to see you for a cut.
Enlightening but what about showing us what each angle does to hair. you know for us dummy visual learners
time to make them epic
❤
💜
i wish you had better analogies, to explain your theory.
