I thought I’d throw my hat in the ring here. If you want a fun, but also powerful spirit ash build, cosplay as one of the Veterans/Commanders from the basegame and summon knights like Engvall, Oleg, Ohga, etc. and use commanders standard & support buffs to keep you and your summon alive. I made the build myself a while back and had 60 str and 30 fth. Enough to hit hard with the commanders standard, aswell as have enough faith to have good regen/heal/buff incantations. It’s a really fun playstyle and I’d really recommend it. I was able to get Banished Knight Oleg to survive from the beginning of Radagon’s fight to the end of Elden Beast. Would recommend the banished knight set (unaltered), as well as the Veterans helm for some dope fashion too. Hope this inspires someone :)
Elden Ring content on TH-cam is very oversaturated. I appreciate that you're carving out a niche with these gimmicky theme builds tailored to specific bosses, it's fun to watch and good for inspiration
I appreciate it man! ER content is oversaturated with the same BS in most videos, which is why I like to mix things up. There's so much content in Elden Ring, yet everyone gravitates to the same 10 - 15 different things lol
Completely agree. No disrespect to other creators out there who are just doing their thing and appealing to there own audience but I just hate seeing the same thumbnails and video format for builds such as ' MOST OVERPOWERED ELDEN RING BUILDS', 'DESTROY BOSSES WITH THIS BUILD' and etc. It may also just be because of my mindst as a player because I don't want an overpowered build that kills the bosses in 30 seconds. I enjoy the flow of the fight. It doesn't feel fun or rewarding otherwise. Rather i want a build that is creative and primarily fun to play. And if it changes how I approach enemy/ boss encounters throughout the game in a manner im not used too then even better.
Who's still watching? I'M still watching! I watched every bit of it, including the Rykard part. Was curious to see how it would go without the spear. Great showcase! So many fine battles once again! Nowadays I barely use Spirit Ashes and when I do, only a handful I call upon. One day I need to do a build that incorporates them as there are lots of entertaining ones out there. Good to see some in action here though admittedly, through all the action, it was hard to tell how much they were contributing. Thanks for doing this anyway.
I think thats the thing with summons. Sometimes you can see their difference. Other times it was like, yo... you going to help? The most challenging bosses with "Unconventional" Spirit Ashes IMO, is Malenia, Messmer and PCR. Their agro shifts are far more inconsistent. But my take aways from the video is that I really love the following summons. Deenh, Florisaxx, Yosh, Curseblade Meera and Finger Creeper.
interesting showcase even for someone like me who (aside from 1 fight) never summoned taylew and the storm bird are probably my favorite summons. taylew helped me against the leda + 4 npcs fight (seriously i found them harder than radhan) and the bird looks cool also that placidusax fight with the name and the summon 🤣 great

I kept making creations once the DLC dropped and could never get motivated to finish a full video, so I kind of lumped everything I have experimented with since the DLC released into one video 🤣
I love when super skilled players play around with spirit summons. As a filthy casual myself, one of my favorites aspects of Elden Ring are the summons! Add a whole new aspect of summoning the dead in your time of need. Really adds to the spectacle of the game (even if it comes at the cost of gameplay. I'm looking at you PC Radahn and Elden Beast). Builds going along side summons, well, that just adds to the spectacle of I think. Jars helping Jars, Fingers helping Fingers, Swordmasters helping Swordmasters, so on so on. Fantastic vid, fantastic showcase of summons, and, of course, fantastic showcase of builds!
If you can play Elden Ring and genuinely enjoy it without crying about the game being "Too Hard" then you are not a "Filthy Casual", theres no reason to berate yourself like that. You are playing as the games director intended, LITERALLY. Hidetaka Miyazaki himself uses Spirit Ashes, he has gone on record saying he uses anything and everything to win when he plays. And if anyone is going to try and filter out the very director of the game they're trying to gatekeep, then they got MUCH bigger problems than "Skill Issues"
Mausoleum soldiers are dope. They may not be tanky like others, but that teleport is awesome, close the distance, get a hit, get out. And theres 5 of them
The Spider Scorpion, Florissax, and Gravebird have been my favorite summons so far. Spider is very weak but I like to try with it and Florissax is a powerful spirit against dragons Edit: That Bayle build looked fun, reminds me of when I did something like that against Placidussax
Rollo is the hidden mvp of the spirit ashes. Aggresive, does bleed, dual wields greataxes and has a crazy 3 hit combo jump attack with them and to top it off, he can also deal fire damage
Yeah he is solid. Black Flame Monk is amazing too. He has a combo which can do upwards of 3k, which ain't bad at all! Sad how other than Mimic, Tiche and Shield Bros get any love.

It's funny, From Soft made so many spirit ashes but the vast majority of players who use them will only ever use one out of like 5 best ones. On my DLC playthrough I occasionally summoned some really bad spirit ashes. Maybe just for variety's sake? 😂 I love these. Iron Golem is probably my favorite. These kind of inspire me to do some stupid builds with spirit ashes for that one colosseum mode.

I wouldn't even say it made every situation easier. Malenia, Messmer and Radahn go all over the place when there's more than one target. Makes them all extremely unpredictable. Really loved what they added to the DLC. Florisaxx, Yosh, Spider Scorpion, Finger Creepy. All really fun summons. Jolan and Anna was a major let down though. I think you'd have a ton of fun in the colosseum with your creativity! Always appreciate hearing from you!
I always like grabbing a summon that matches the theme of my build. Perfume build, use a perfumer summon. Pure strength, I like rocking Ohga or Taylew. It's fun to match my spirit to my build, adds more creativity to each character

A bit late, but a build suggestion I have is an 80 faith build. Things like inseperable sword, barbed staff spear, and golden order greatsword get pretty good scalings, with the lowest out of the bunch being B. There's also things like the Blacksteel Twinblade that gets a higher holy damage boost when put on a sacred infusion. It has relatively low requirements (18 Strength, 15 dex, and 13 faith ) while maintaining decent dex scalings. It also gets the special running R2 that no other twinblades share besides the godskin peeler. (But let's be honest. Most people only powerstance it with itself for the jumping L1 ). Alternatively, strength/faith builds got some pretty good new weapons. Namely, the Death Knight Twinaxes/Longhaft, Black Steel Greathammer, Devonia's Hammer, and Shadow Sunflower blossom. Previously Strength/Faith was kinda limited to fire damage ( Save for Ordovis's Greatsword ), but now has better options for holy and now has options for lightning.
As for incantations on an 80 faith build. Things like Pest Thread Spears or Knights Lightning Spears can preform well when optimised. New buffs like Dragonbolt of Florissax have been added too. Rotten Butterflies has seen a buff, so it could be viable now. There's also Light of Miquella ( aka Jacob's Ladder ) but from what I've seen it isn't too practical. There's also the Preistess Heart consumable that buffs dragoncult incantations by 20%.
Unpopular opinion, but a lot of the “cheese” people attribute to summons tends to be more a combination of different things. If you over-level your weapon and Rune Level, bosses like Morgott get REALLY easy as is - and a lot of people do that unintentionally. This is compared to what the game gently suggests you do with the stones dropped in each area, specifically, as if you’re in a place giving +5 somber stones with the early +9 somber, THAT may be “making the game too easy.” Summons tend to just be another layer of buildcrafting, as this vid showed, and a bad summon choice can be just as detrimental as a good choice can be helpful. Obviously excluding Tiche and Mimic, they actually end up pretty balanced in lower-leveled runs.

Yeah she was a missed opportunity for sure. As she is now she’s just there for exposition and lore dumps. And then that big cutscene at the giants forge. A tearful farewell to a companion who was barely there.

@@SaxSlaveGael 60 vigor is still nice to have in pve for comfort. If anything the average pve player needs the vigor more than pvp players for pve, unless they're speedrunners. Having 60 vigor makes learning the bosses moveset easier because you survive longer bro. The damage tradeoff for putting 15-20 points into vigor instead of a damage stat at level 150 is negligible compared to the survivability gained. Not difficult
I will add that I love making themed builds of every level in souls games, and have since demon's souls. Why do you think I clicked this video in the first place? I love an interesting aesthetic, I love making janky equipment/spells work, and I love carefully optimizing stats to get the most out of a build at a certain level. I like all of these builds in theory, I just think the stats are poorly optimized for level 150.
@@omnibot5848 I respect that. I just prefer the lower vigor for the additional challenge. Plus I often use defence buffing items anyway. Or just use Radahn or Morgotts rune which balances it out. 40 vigor with Opaline tear and Dragon Shield Great Crest is essentially then same as 60 vigor with no defense stats. I just don't care for the meta optimization mindset. Never have, never will.
@@travisbickle3835 lmao! Right these are all done on NG+ and are not full runs. Basically I have 2 fairly identical saves on NG+ with almost every boss avalible at the ready across both saves. Both saves also have Basically every item weapon ETC. I make a build, beat a boss respec. If I run out ofnlava tears I use save scrumming to restore my saves.

I loved Ancient Death Rancor on my Death Magic/SoNaF run, but the DLC bosses hop around like bunnies. I may have to give that build another shot.
The restriction on the number of Great Arrows you can carry is a real bummer for bow builds.
That last Savage Lion Claw on Consort was so clutch, it's getting a sponsorship from Exedy (car nerd alert!)

@@travisbickle3835 lmao! Right these are all done on NG+ and are not full runs. Basically I have 2 fairly identical saves on NG+ with almost every boss avalible at the ready across both saves.
Both saves also have Basically every item weapon ETC.
I make a build, beat a boss respec. If I run out ofnlava tears I use save scrumming to restore my saves.

Genuine question: why put the cerulean flask on your quick-pouch? Is it easier than flicking through the options on the main pouch
It is WAY easier! I don't like cycling through items. Muscle memory stuck on square = heal. Triangle right = FP restore.
