- Jabdo is being perform in the eastern part of Ladakh, i.e. Changthang. Changthang is known for Changpa Communities and specially for their Dance and Music. People of Nomadic communities use to take their Yak, sheep, and goat for grazing up in the hills. After they return, then all the families gather together and perform Jabdo around the bornfire. . Jabdo is a combination of two words, I.e. Jab and Do, Jab means foot and Do means step and that means foot stepping. Changthang is very cold during winter, temperature dips to- 35 degrees Celsius. So, they dance to warm themselves up in the evening time. Jabdo songs are sung to the accompaniment of Dramnyan(a stringed instrument) and the flute.
SAVE is an NGO working towards the best
erment of different things in the Changthang region, our one of the motivation is also to preserve the culture and heritage of the region. And Jabdo is one of the main identity of the Changpa Communities which really needs to be preserve and should be learn by the younger generations. To keep it alive, we the younger generations should embrace them. Jab is the traditional dance of the whole Changthang region, which we are trying to learn and preserve it.

Camere not good
It's spoiling the original steps of jabro, not preserving cultural awareness. Just looking to earn money......SAVE Tumse Na Ho Payega😂
Right
Exactly true👍
And also apart from the dance they are not going to do anything new
Everytime same song same action (SAVE) do something new then it will be interesting
You are right. They are using the new dance style introduced by Gen Tashi Rabgias, Mohammed Shafi Reli, and Morup Namgyal lay which is more Nepali or Indian style. Things do change, and nothing is isolated, but still.... It would be nice to show the simpler, original dance style. I have been visiting and working for music preservation in Ladakh for over 20 years, and have enjoyed dancing at various dar tses and deeply enjoy watching others do the simple steps. The slow changes of the group are hypnotic, and are not to be dismissed as boring--in my humble opinion. But hey, phyiling pa inlay. Chamet shes lay.
Yes absolutely agreed with your comment, though we don't know very orginal steps but we are trying bit by bit to preserve it and also we all are students and we are on learning stages. Lot more to learn.
Thank you for your concern.
