If you haven't already watch my 4 year review on my J2.
So the J1 is the same apart from colour as the J2.
The A1P is just a 636cc engine rather than 600cc with some carb and internal differents plus has more dampening in rear shock.
In all honesty they are really the same with a small amount of extra power.
I've owned a used Rd350 1990, new fzr600 1992, new yam thundercat 1998, new R1 2003. The used zx6r j2 with 23,000 miles when purchased is as good as any and my favourite bike I've owned. I've sold the J2 due to money and kept the A1P because its basically new. The bembo master cylinder is by far the best mod. Then depending on your riding I'd change sprockets to 14t front and 41t rear. This will increase midrange and your see in my video how well it pulls from 3000-4000 rpm.
I absolutely love these bikes. I'm 50 next year and can't see me selling this ever as I've riden most modern bikes and don't get on with them.
Also these are so easy to work on.
Any questions fire them over or get me on the Facebook pages in the video.
      Tim.

Yeah the guy I sold it to took a picture today on the may day run, looks great and do miss it.
The plan always was to buy the newest, lowest mileage J2 or A1P and basically I wasn't using it and seemed a waste. Now I started using the A1P it is better. With the lower miles the gearbox is slick, Maxton suspension feels better and it is slightly quicker but you don't notice that on the road. Went to Brands and its slightly quicker. Just need to not be worried about dropping it lol.
I'll do a three year life of the A1P in June/July.

So I fitted one back in 1991 to my RD350 to stop fork flex. Made a great difference, so when I see the one for the ZX6R I jumped. Does make a difference under heavy braking.. Found it on ebay, item number: 313555421476

I have a yellow J2 that i have owned since new. It has over 100k miles on it including 50+ track days. Other than batteries, spockets, and a couple fuel pumps, I've never had to do anything mechanically to it. It has been crashed and rebuilt several times, but is still in very good condition. It has some harmonics at mid-RPM, so I suspect the timing chain is getting pretty loose. I am 50 now, but it will become a coat rack before i sell it!
I also have a 2003 ZX-9R that is track only and it has been down a few times as well. I'm in a bind with it because you can no longer buy race plastics for it, and rules require a belly pan (tub), so street fairings are no good.
I love these bikes for their comfort and they are very capable in the right hands. I put soft luggage on it and have made several cross country trips over the years.
I always wanted one of the silver versions after seeing a Canadian model. They are 636 as well.
Great videos and cheers from the US!

Hi buddy. Thank you for taking the time, for such a lovely message.
I miss the yellow one but have been out with Dan on several rides with it.
I wish back in 2003 when I purchased my R1 I had purchased one of these. To be honest it was my first 1000cc and always wanted an R1 but hated it. For me in the real world it dosent work at all imo.
These bikes are absolutely fantastic. The A1P 636 silver one I now only have and just so much enjoy. I went out on the 2019 zx6r and although good, imo isn't a real world road bike. On track it maybe lighter and quicker but there is something about old school carbs and the smooth delivery, plus the scream of the airbox.
I've done a 320 large brembo disc, with axle to radial caliper conversion for looks as I was happy with the stopping power but as you say I'll die before I'll sell it lol.
I've unfortunately not been great, health wise with my back and neck plus im trying to come off of prescription opiods, thus not done a video for a year now, however I'm currently editing some videos plus have a list for this year so hopefully have new stuff on the channel.
Once again thank you for a great message. Its mad for me to think that when I first put out a video on this channel, really to help me help others, that it's seen all around the world.
It's 1:30am in the morning here and you lifted my spirits.
      I thank you Madviking.

Hi. Thanks for the question. The front mudguard is held on to the forks by 4 bolts. The wheel needs to come out but it's not super hard.
I'm currently editing air, fuel filter and plugs for next vid.
Here in the UK we have a new air quality in London called ulez, Ultra Low Emissions Zone. This means that bikes like mine to ride will cost £12.50 as I'm on the outskirts of London and in this zone.
This video may take a little while to film but is super important as it's so confusing for alot of UK people with bikes older than 2007.
I'll write this down on my list of videos to do and will try get it out ASAP.
      Thanks for watching Tim.

Always a shame to part with a bike you like but you're lucky to still have such an immaculate 636. I'm sure the new owner will get lot of fun from the yellow one. I got in touch with Kawasaki about the ULEZ and as you said they have no emission records for their bikes up to 2003. So it's in for a test at £175! The Zx6R should pass, they have a cat in the exhaust and a 'Kleen' sticker on the fairing.😄🤞All the best.

What an insult that you had a offer of 2,474.00 from a guy 😠
That bike would be 6,500-6,200 all day long here in the state's in that near perfect condition. But that's just factors spec's, you have upgraded alot of aspects of this bike to aftermarket performance level upgrades! And that's not cheap! Now that year model in a unrestored condition might be 3,500-4,000 USD. But as far as selling a bike like that to a first time motorcycle owner, I wouldn't do it period! I'd just have to tell him sorry you need buy something else first before you buy a super sport 600cc like that. Now had the guy already owned several sport bike's and this was just going to be an addition to his collection then I'd reconsider. Love your channel ! Hopefully he doesn't bash all the love and hard work you put into it!

Honestly the new owner is a very nice guy. I had spoken to him for a while before I had offered him mine. He is ocd like me with cleaning and is eager to learn.
Here in the UK the bike standard would be worth £2000-£2200 with all the service work just carried out. I don't think they get the respect they deserve here as just looked at by some as an old bike.
The parts used I would of got back around £1400. I done him a deal which worked both ways.
As far as a super sport 600cc goes as a first bike I didn't really think about that. He is in his 40's and dosent come across as a boy racer or someone looking to go nuts. I've actually arranged to go down to his place on the 25th Feb for one of his first ride outs.
I'm 48. I passed my test two weeks after my 17th birthday and jumped on a rd350lc for a year then onto a brand new FZR600 3HE at 18.
I was a lunatic on the RD350 lol.
Dan will defo look after the bike and I know he will respect the performance aswell. I'm excited for him to join the biking world and experience all that comes with it.
      Nice talking to you buddy.
      Tim.

@@kawasakizx6r813 well thought out and suppose he'll be smart about it and respect the fact he owns a perfectly restored bike. I'm shocked that UK would just think of that as just an old bike. When people restore them here to that level they get top dollar! I hope you'll reinvest the money into the hobby and maybe another bike of your liking. Can't say I've seen anyone around here take restoration and explanation of mechanic work being done so thoroughly that most could follow along quite easily. That bike could easily go cross country! Of course if I did that here I would only rent motel rooms that have outside door's so it could be rolled into the room at night!

Hi. So a 1996 will be an F model. Little different but a friend tells me they are pron to leak fuel when the fuel tap is left on when bike has stood for a while, so floods the bike and can leak fuel into the engine oil.
He advises an oil and filter change, fresh fuel and try again.
Only after that would I look at carbs.
Apparently very common so I'd advise closing the fuel tap off when leaving bike to stand.
Hope that helps, let us know how you get on. Tim.

Hi again Tim, meant to ask you before.......how much of a performance difference between the 600 and the 636? Cheers Tim Hope👍

    • @kawasakizx6r813
      @kawasakizx6r813  ปีที่แล้ว

After they had been adjusted to run the best on dyno the full systems, dyno jet, air filter, 4 degree advance rota, the 600 was 106.5bhp and the 636 was 112.5bho. Only 6 bhp and 2ft lb of torque.
With the grating the way I run I felt no real difference on the road. I went to Brands on the 636cc A1P and it was noticeable because I had the same gearing on but I was running out of gear ie it was to high.
Let's say from point A to point B was taken in 3rd gear, this was perfect on the 600cc however I'd max out on the 636cc 10ft before, so I'd either have to short shift or hold it in the redline.
It's marginal but if your not gonna have it on and off the dyno I'd say if ones around get a 636cc.
Currently the 600 J2 was smoother to ride and probably easier but again I'd spent so much time on it.
Since February when I sold the J2 I haven't been out much due to ill health. I got out the weekend just gone and there are some things I wanna sort. Very minor but just being picky.
In July I plan to do a 3 years with an A1P and I will compare the two in detail then.
Alot of people ask me which is the quicker and what mods. The best mod is an RCS19 with braided hoses and sbs pads and a decent set of tyres, then id do gearing, -1 +1 with healtech speedo healer. This honestly will give you so much confidence and the graring makes it more rideable. The brakes are incredible.
If there was a mint J2 that popped up it wouldn't put me off over an A1P it's really minimal.
