Why do Gripen often use the smoke from the wings at airshows? I think it is really stupid since it only distracts me. Please stop doing that!

All SU-35 flight maneuvers at airshows are completely useless in real combat. No combat takes place during complete bleeding of energy and stalling the plane on a vertical thrust and other bullshit. If any pilot tries that they will get shot out of the sky in the first 10 seconds. The SU-35 is an extremely capable aircraft, albeit a bit large. But please, differ between showoff stunts and energy preservation in combat. It's like saying that a drift car will beat a Veyron on a track because it can slide sideways. It's just stupid.

The Gripen C is actually more agile than the SU35. Gripen E is even better (at least in specs). Gripen E has also some of the most advanced electronics and the best sensor fusion and networking in the world. Do not confuse aerobatics with combat capability!

Christian M ; Finally, someone commenting with an understanding of modern dogfighting. With the new Meteor AA robot (which Gripen E/D is the first to use) the russkies can have fun with their stop/stall manoeuvres while Gripen takes them out from 100km away...its called "beyond horizon dogfighting", something the Russians have not prioritized yet.

They have too much invested in the Eurofighter Typhoon that's only seen 17 years of service in the Luftwaffe, can't exactly buy new jets every other decade.
