    Had some déjà vu and happy flashbacks watching. Between Tony, myself, and the other owners of this machine the Gen 3 of this splitter just might be the best affordable splitter ever. Thanks again Chris & Tony!

    Nice job on this Splitfire for you commercial guys. For us 99% home firewood rurals 😁, my 10 on DR "dual action" electric replaced gas years ago. It's slow, butt I have the time. And, I can sing, talk to myself, and listen to NPR ( ✔ ) without the noise and smell of an engine. No bad gas, no sparkplug, no oil changes, no smoke. And, if I want to split for a half hour or less, just push start.
    I always learn from you pros. The banter is a bonus. HAPPY THANKSGIVING !!!! ❤JMNSHO

    I have been thinking about getting one of those to play with. I love my horizontal, but this would be cool with the log lift and the price isn't bad. My splitter doesn't have a log lift, and I don't have a tractor. They look like a handy unit and cost 1/3 of the other brands. I like both your channels and you guys do great videos together.

    CONTROLLING WEIGHT ROLLING OFF YOUR TRAILER: Use about a 50 foot rope that is good in your hand; like a braided 3/8 out of a material that is soft in your hand. Tie it to the machine, then go around the front top rail of the trailer. Go an extra one turn around. Take the long end with you and start pushing the machine down to the ramp . When the rope is tight, shake out another six inches or so to loosen it up, and the turns around the front rail will help you control the rate of rolling down the ramp. If you did it right, it should be almost effortless. Hope this helps those who might need the idea.

    Splitfire should maybe use aluminum diamond plate for the table and log lift. That would address the paint issue. I wouldn’t think it would add too much to the price. It would also look nicer. The 7 and a half ton ram seems a bit underpowered. I would think it should be a larger one.

    The Power-horse Horizontal/Vertical Electric Log Splitter - 8-Ton, 15 Amp, 120V Motor log splitter is a poorly designed waste of money. From the moment that I un-boxed the unit, I started to see issues.
    1) The control valve for the hydraulic piston movement is installed up-side-down. There is no mention in the installation instructions. The pictures and drawings show it in the correct position, but it is installed up-side-down foe “shipping reasons” according to technical support. You are required to remove it and re-install it before operation.
    2) The log splitter is designed to work both in the vertical position and in the horizonal position. If you lay the splitter down on its wheels and front support handle, it rocks back and forth on the captors’ box mounted under the motor/pump assembly. This makes it useless to use in this position.
    3) There are two bolts that support the outer casing of the piston assembly. They take the weight of the assembly when you move the piston assembly to its working position. The bolts screw in to the support and have knobs that are pressed onto the bolt heads. Both broke off when installed. One of the bolts bent during use.
    4) While splitting in the vertical position, the piston and wedge ride down a track. The knuckle that connects the wedge to the piston tilts out when splitting force is applied. This forces the tracking plate in the wedge to push forward and bending the guide rails on both sides. Nothing I tried to correct this worked. Soon it became useless to use because the wedge kept riding on the outside of the track.
    In general, I find this is a useless tool. I am in the process of returning the item. Repair the major problems and this may become a good answer to people that could use a vertical - horizonal splitter. Until then it is a waste of money.

      Never heard of it sound like a cheap China made thing. From what I have found any pro splitter made in the USA or Canada is a good choice.

  • @danelionheart5881
    @danelionheart5881 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    Ahh yes I am not good with change. I have used one splitter that looked like that but had a 12 horse Motor on it. The problem is people get use to something one way for a long time when they make a change they are not use to they don't feel comfortable with it. Now I have been driving a stick all my life all my cars and trucks were standards I have had a few cars and trucks that were on the tree. I had many cars and trucks but the girl I was with didn't know how to drive a stick. I went to a dealer that I repo for and told him I need a Automatic for my girl. He laughed and made a comment that no one should be driving that can't drive both and I agreed with him.
    Any ways long story short the Dealer showed me a beautiful car that would seat 5. The automatic shift was on the floor. This car was cherry. I said I don't know I never seen her drive she might be a bad driver. The dealer said she is a women right I said well yes and he said they are all bad drivers. Then he said get in lets take her for a spin. I got in the car and we headed off. I put that car in drive and we made it to the street. I made a right turn and stepped on the gas. With out thinking I was reaching for the shift and the clutch . End of story That car stopped dead in it's tracks. The dealer laughed his A O He said maybe you need to learn how to drive an automatic. Oh crap that is right I said .
    I bought her the car and it took me a while to get use to driving it I would not and then reach for the shift and try to clutch. but for the most part it was a car I knew she could drive so when I was working and she had to go do things she had her own way. Wasn't long she asked me to teach her how to drive a stick and I with a smile told her NO!! She then said she will find someone to teach her. I smiled bigger and said you can do what ever you like but you will never drive any thing I own other then that automatic car I bought. One day I was out repoing and she called the dealer I was repoing for. She couldn't get her car started so she tried to use one of mine and burned the clutch out. I asked where the truck is and she said still infront of the house she never left. I told her that is why she was never to drive my stuff.

    The only thing that concerns me about this splitter is the lack of power. I looked on the website and as shown in the video its around 4k. Most of the wood I split is what ever I can find from tree services or facebook.marketplace. Its not straight grain to say the least. I would also like to see it split some sweetgum or elm. I say all that to say 4k on a splitter that may be very underpowered is a big gamble.

    • @InTheWoodyard
      @InTheWoodyard  หลายเดือนก่อน
