    Just bought a 586-3 with about 100 rounds through it, like new condition. The trigger in double action is buttery smooth and my groupings made me feel like a pro. I have never shot this good before on a wheel gun, wish I could say it was me. I just bought the gun and the guy just let it sit in his safe for 33 years. I am a happy camper now.

      Wow! What an excellent find man. Even my new version runs almost like a race gun and I know how smooth those vintage ones tend to be. Enjoy that beauty the way it was intended to be enjoyed. Thanks for sharing and have a great weekend. 🇺🇸

    The 586 Distinguished combat magnum is always an excellent revolver. Mine is a 4" no dash model. And it just loves 158 grain standard pressure jacketed hollow point magnums. Thanks for showing your revolver 👍 Keep safe and well.

    I was looking to buy my first revolver and was looking at this exact gun. 4” 586 classic. I like the look of this gun over the 686 because of that beautiful blue finish. I would also would change my wood grips to black polymers like yours whenever I decide to buy it. I love the review.

      That’s excellent!!! The 586 classic is the quintessence of the wheel gun. The grips are hogue mono grips and help make this sweet piece an absolute pleasure to shoot. Best wishes to you and your future purchase. You will be pleased indeed.

    Robert, I just got back from the range with my 586 4" for the first run after getting the trigger turned by the Performance Center. I need to send it back due to light primer strikes in double action. Ughhhh... will keep you updated. Hope all is well with you.

    • @WheelgunsOnWheels
      @WheelgunsOnWheels  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh no wait before you send it back, remove the grips and see if you can simply tighten that main spring tension screw. It’s on the front face of the handle. This is not uncommon at all. If it’s not fully tightened you’ll get light strikes. Seriously give that a shot first.

      @@WheelgunsOnWheels I wished I could show you my gun cabinet. Lol. It’s definitely "industrial" and it’s pretty full but has room for more. My brother got it for me for free when the company he worked for had to shut down and they offered some of the items to the employees to help clear out the building quickly. So he got one of these for him and one of these for me. And it’s lockable and fire resistant. But I had to get creative and make the standing partitions to separate the rifles. (Google: 1125 Lyon Deep Door Cabinet with Tilt-Bins) On a sidenote that company shutting down was probably the best thing to happen to him because he landed a really great job because of it.

    • @WheelgunsOnWheels
      @WheelgunsOnWheels  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@scubaguy007 that’s great man! It’s always good to hear how somebody else stores their firearms. I saw an episode of “The Yankee Marshal” demonstrate how he fits his stuff into his safes and there’s these rods with magnet tips that stick to the top of the cabinet or safe and the rod goes down the barrels keeping your rifles stable and standing while not taking up any safe space besides the inside of your barrels. Genius solution to a crowded cabinet.
      Kudos to your bro for the hookup and seizing a good opportunity.

    Beautiful gun ! I too have a real weakness for Smith and Wesson revolvers. I happen to have a 686-4 w/ a four inch barrel as well as a 586-4 w/ a four inch barrel however, that one is a safe queen. I do pull it out and fondle and admire it from time to time. What I would like is one of the new 586s w/ a six inch barrel. I do not possess a six inch barreled .357 and I think it would be a fun plinker. Not that the four inchers are not fun. They are. Anyway, good vid !!

    • @WheelgunsOnWheels
      @WheelgunsOnWheels  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Doug. I totally understand your particular affinity towards that safe Queen of yours. Such a beautiful piece indeed. I have a 4” 686+ as well as the 6” 686 competitor and I find that extra two inches is A LOT of extra length. Yes indeed it’s smooth as silk as it literally burps rounds out the front without narely a hiccup. I think you’d very much enjoy that extra length on another 586 classic. And in my opinion, you definitely need another revolver…. You’re welcome ;-)

    Just a Helpful Suggestion from Fellow shooter and Firearms Trainer.

      Thanks Mike. I’m always open to suggestions and definitely look at safety as a primary focus. Knowing how my funky hands barely work, my current practice has served me well. It takes just about everything I’ve got to engage the trigger even in single action position. I wholeheartedly agree that indeed accidents are a result of a series of preventable events as you stated. Yes, this suggestion you make is certainly a by the book type of precaution and I’ll see what I can do to adjust my lead up to each shot with that in mind. Thank you for your considerate input.

    • @WheelgunsOnWheels
      @WheelgunsOnWheels  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just one more aspect worth mentioning, although my trigger finger is in the guard, it is not actively on the trigger until I’m on target. The range of motion in my fingers is markedly compromised and unless I concentrate all of my neurons with considerable effort, no measurable force nor motion results. I completely understand where you’re coming from by watching this video and respect your input.
