I actually believe due to existential laws that might differentiate a bit in each universe, it can be possible that warp gods have effects on those universes too, but they are not so much in tune with them meaning they have miniscule to no influence in them at all, or that this warp is meant exactly specifically for 40k universe, and Well of Eternity gives access to "other" warp dimensions which are connected to other universes, a nexus point.

If the Warp is the collective psyche of all things with souls, the Deep Warp is probably like the collective unconsciousness where things buried even deeper than our emotions are. Think of it like the materium being you awake, the Warp being your dreams, but the Deep Warp being parts of you you don't even consciously realize, that you only unconsciously interpret in your dreams. Basically the Warp's Warp. Daemons and the Warp gods are capable of thought and reason, but I imagine there are even greater entities that actually are just mindless and that can't be reasoned with, because they aren't made by solid influences like excess, decay, scheming, or violence. An example of this concept would be Abnormalities from Project Moon's Lobotomy Corporation universe, where monsters born from humanity's unconsciousness can be brought forth to reality, but have set behaviors the player has to learn and work around.

@@TheLostPrimarch…speak more of my home…hopefully…you won’t go mad…or may be you should…😈… Also…why would they come back from what you mortals call…the deep warp…
1. The deep warp is the collective awareness/thoughts of the subconscious/instinctual mind. 2. The deep warp houses or literally is THE one true choas god. All others are just aspects of. 3. The deep warp is a place where self cannot exist. Imagine intelligence without self awareness. How alien that would be? A "chinese room" it learns to speak but there is no one behind the voice.
"The deep warp is a place where self cannot exist. Imagine intelligence without self awareness. How alien that would be?" So, the aliens from Blindsight book?
I think of the Deep Warp similar to how Stranger Things defines the Upside Down. A place where a powerful enough will, 11 etc (Chaos Gods etc) can alter the very nature of existence, but there is still something within it that is very nefarious, the Mindflayeresque- (The True Chaos God), and is only allowing these other wills to have influence for whatever reason it deems. But ultimately, everything is serving towards its intention, whatever it is, as it is really unknowable what it is, and what it intends.
Easy to discover what is hidden within the Deep Warp: send Titus. He is the hot character now that has the power of Plot Armor, along with the fact of being an Ultrasmurf (you know, the invincible characters of the setting). Just don't let Leandros know about it.
Titus would destroy it for simply being Warp and refuse to tell us what it was only saying it was "Foul Trickery of the Warp. Nothing More" and move on
In the old lore it is hinted there but one Chaos God, the great abomination, the unspeakable beast and all the other gods are just its various facets. Those that delved too deeply into this lore were carried off by daemons. Perhaps it resides in the deeps, waiting, watching.
Funny, the tzeentch big birdie ended up looking like Imperium Aquila lmao. Would be funny if Kairos meeting Big E in there and ended up aged after listening to his rambling.
I think what it did to him, is send him to the end of Time itself, meaning, he somehow survives until the end of everything, and thus is why he alone has returned from the Well, because only he that has entered it, lives to that point to begin with. It would explain why his present mind is absent, but his knowledge of all history and all future are active. He lived all history, he lived all futures, but he himself was at the end of it all and the beginning, in order to make it so he can see all past events, and all future events. His present is never /there/.
Tzeneetch: "There's massive burning hole that even I don't know... and all I have is this Lord of Change." Kairos: "Lord Tzeneetch what are you doing?!" Tzeneetch: "Come here you little fuckin' chicken!" --Astartesanonymous
I think that there you can find the Lovecraftian Void with all the baddest stuff worse than demons, Chaos gods and various monsters of the classic chaos realm: Other demons, other gods and other monster, but with more tentacles and more eyes.
The old ones left the main setting, probably to another galaxy, different dimensions, or most likely so far deep in the warp they set themselves up a separate kingdom untouched by the influence of gods or mortals the eldar traverse the webway undeterred mapped out
My two ideas: A) it is an axis of increasing metaphysical-ness. Like the feelings of the feelings of mortals. B) 40k is limited to the milky way and to the timeframe shown therein. So it is a connection to other galaxys warps. If you swim long enough you'll reach the tyranids hive mind. Or the pantheon of sesamy street. No one knows the strange feelings of beings of other galaxies.
So when warp was a calm space, was deep warp also different? If it’s not turbulent even with all of current civilizations, what was it back then? And was it a safe place or not.
@@TheLostPrimarch There is a way to know. You just have to go there. If you survive long enough, you'll know what it used to be like. ...oh, sure, you won't make it back to tell anyone, and you might only know for a fraction of a second if you're lucky, but there's a chance of knowing! xD
In this context the warp reminds me of playing Subnautica, the deeper you go the crazier and hotter it gets until you reach that lake of lava at the bottom of the ocean
Nicely done, I remember some old lore about dead god corpses or shells there of being tucked away in the deepest part of the warp of the warp. Maybe that's where they sent the 5 chaos god that the writers snuffed out.
Beyond the Deep Warp (4th Wall) lies the real world. Kairos just saw that he is just a plastic toy for grow-up men to play with and went completely insane. Shriveled wings and two heads is just someone KitBashing him way too hard while he was in our world.
Except for that John French, the writer of that story said: ____________________ "Daemons are not living creatures. Each one of them is a facet of a Dark God’s power and nature. They are semi-independent, but ultimately they are only fragments of a greater whole. The mortal servants of Chaos are also slaves to the Dark Gods, their minds and bodies are twisted by the Warp, but they can still make decisions, hope, dream, and despair. They can plot and betray. That mortal independence, ultimately, is what makes the Gods crave their souls. So where does that leave Kairos Fateweaver? Tzeentch wanted to look into the Well of Eternity but would not risk to go himself, so sent one of his Daemons, which is actually part of him… and now Kairos Fateweaver knows more of the future than Tzeentch himself, while existing as part of him. How does that work? The answer is that it doesn’t. It makes no sense - because that would mean that Tzeentch both knows all of the future and past and does not. It means that part of him is, in one way, more powerful than the rest of him. And that’s fine. It’s fine because the story of Kairos Fateweaver, and the Well of Eternity, is just that; it is a story told about something mortal minds cannot understand, and can only describe through metaphor. The Well of Eternity is just a name. There is no hole in the middle of a fortress that does not exist that goes down for ever. Tzeentch does not literally listen to his Daemons. All these things are just skins that are pulled over a part of the vast, intangible malevolence of the Warp. The truth really cannot be known. How cool is that?" ____________________ So there isn't a literal deep warp or even a literal well. It's all metaphor, written in a manner which we can't truly understand as with most things of the warp.
Playing as Kairos Fateweaver in Warhammer 3: Total war, I initially thought he was weak, but then realized he can spam 'Blue Fire of Tzeentch' every few seconds and annihilate monsters and characters from afar while flying. His teleportation 'Ambush' is also crazy powerful, and ensures the upper hand in nearly any battle. Love playing him.
In fact, Tzeentch suspects that it's not Kairos, but some unknown entity that pretending to be him, and came to the Realms of Chaos to spy and study. Therefore, Tzeentch constantly drags him into dangerous, deadly situations, hoping that he can force this entity to "open" itself.
Tzeentch threw Kairos in there cos he was scared to go in himself. When Kairos came back all messed up Tzeentch noped any thoughts about going in himself. Though, given that god aligned daemons are actually all little extensions of the chaos gods themselves, Tzeentch throwing Kairos in there was more akin to Tzeentch dipping his toe in the water and finding it mutated into something weird when he lifted the toe back out.
Continuing that "Warp is an Ocean" analogy. What if the "chaos gods" are actually human Pareidolia of the wave forms of the warp. Much is said how the warp defies logic. What if that's because there is no logic, no sapient entities. Instead there is unfathomable infinities. We think we see four gods, the same way we think we see gods in constellations in the starry night.
My guess is the Warp is supposed to be fueled by the living. All the energy comes from life. The uppermost layers are a psychic mirror of the species making the imprint. We personify the entities and act as if they have will but they are more like AI chatbots. Expose them to the Internet and they say racist crap. The Warp gods reflect our own worst emotions back on us. There are supposed to be positive versions as well like korne being honor and virtue as well as blood and killing. Just like life is good but growth unchecked is cancer. Hi papa nurgle. This has been explored in lore with some chaos librarians saying the demons are just loud warp echoes and not alive and it pisses them the hell off. So in a way you could think of the Warp gods as universal forces that can screw with you. Like imagine if gravity or entropy could mess with your head or seem to talk to you. It's not technically alive but is doing a very good approximation. And gravity really wants you to fly close to a singularity. For the kicks. And even if you know it doesn't actually want anything it's whispering in your ear and you feel tingles up and down.
The Deep Warp would make one hell of a horror TV series setting for the WH40K universe. It’s like the stories that can be told in weird, horrifying, beyond imagination, and unlimited in scope.
Personal anecdote. I’m playing in a DnD game set in Warhammer. My DM has ofc taken creative liberties, adding or changing things for the campaign. One thing to the lore he’s done is about the deep warp and blanks. My character (Psyker) recently attempted to dive into the memories of another party member (Blank). However, my character wasn’t aware his telepathy was based off connecting to the soul of his target. Our friend being a blank, you’d think it just wouldn’t work. But no, instead my character’s consciousness/soul was sent to some esoteric eldritch realm. Which was revealed to be the deep warp. He BARELY survived, really only thanks to some bullshit abilities he had specifically. It was basically revealed that in our setting, blanks DO have souls. But they’re of a different nature. That the warp is segmented almost in a sort of density system, hence the “deep” warp. Like a light prism concaving into the hourglass diagram. Blank souls exist within the deep warp, and their nature as such is why they come off as wrong. Bit more to it, but that’s the idea. Was a fun development.
The 40k reality is one big spinning black hole theres the event horizon (deep warp) the middle zone were time and space get messed up (warp) and the outside minorly affected (outside the warp)
How do you even enter such a place unscathed? Be crazy enough to align every possible version of yourself and object your traveling with across every dimension and reality and enter the deep warp in synchronization. This would also include thoughts. That would be the issue and barrier to travel into such a place. Not even the chaos gods could do that because it would require some way to send a message to all realities in the deep and hope it doesn’t come out garbled and corrupted or create new creatures from just the message. Kairos or however you spell his name would have unknowingly been in sync with his other versions of himself but not all of them when entering and when returning you see the result and the fact he was able to return at all was due to the level of synchronization across realities. The creatures that emerge unscathed from deep warp will have existed across all possible realities and versions of physics and would basically absorb the universe that they enter like an eraser and the universe disappearing into their essence.
My headcanon is that every human soul goes to the deep warp after death (if chaos gods gets one soul it is only the copy as explained in Aaron Dembski-Bowden's book) and are reincarnated in our world
Entropy. What they find down there is the break down of everything into nothing, everything, pure potential, pure oblivion. That is the nature of pure chaos. All possibilities and no possibilities, so Entropy.
Personally I love the idea that when the emperor famously stole power from the gods in the warp, that he actually DIDN'T make any deal with any chaos gods. Instead, he ignored the four ENTIRELY and went down the well to the deep warp and met and made a deal with something much more powerful and perhaps far, far less reactive and misbehaved as the chaos gods. Maybe it is the god of the materiumv- a force the Emperor actually namechecks when he bannished Mortarion and incinerated much of the Grandfathers garden through Guilliman after healing him. They call the Master of Mankind "Anathema", and if he does take his power from the god of the materium which really IS the oppisot or anathama of Chaos afterall. My personal cannon.
@@TheLostPrimarch I really did! I watched more of your work since, and it's really well put together. I fell back into the Warhammer rabbit hole recently and your videos are dragging me even deeper now :D
The deep warp is just GW Legal department. The chaos god's don't want to risk being copyright unfriendly. Kairos just managed to confuse them long enough to escape.
i think if Vashtorr becomes a full 5th god, he might have the advanced technology to create a "daemon-submarine" that can survive the "crushing depth of the abyssal zone"
Sadly that seems utterly improbable unless a writer decides to smoke crack (as usual), simply because from how it seems, ''the deep warp seethes, its a living thing, it takes the power of a tortured sun to puncture through the shalowest depths, string a dozen battleship reactors and you still get nothing more.'' ''Some men boast about being able to travel in the warp, but they are merely skidding across eternity's face'', those descriptions alone tell you basically you need a C'tan worth of energy to even TRY to go the deep warp and those unfortunate that do enter it through other means.. Well. We've never heard of them anymore, its more like the deep warp is either the bottom abyss of the warp or literally a place of the subconcious mind, alien to sentient beings, where individuality dies, and only raw thought and insanity mooks around, not even the astronomicon goes past it.
I think this is where the Tyranid Hive Mind exists. Other videos have already covered its incalculable intellect and psychic power, but also having that ability "a shadow in the warp", this deep warp seems like a good home. Well, with the exception that the Hive Mind exists so deep in the deep warp that it can't gain sustenance very well, so it has created and perfected the Tyranids and given them the primary role of gathering biomass for it. If/when we finally meet the Hive Mind, it's gonna be leagues beyond any of the Chaos gods or the Emperor in size and power. And, considering how well hidden it would have to be to have remained safe from Chaos and other races, it would have to exist where no other threats dare to go. Also, we know the Hive Mind is proficient at mutating/evolving lesser beings. What if it gifted Kairos with the 2nd head because it showed potential? And released it back to Tzeentch as a warning to continue to stay away from the deep warp?
In the Horus Heresy book, The Path of Heaven, when the stormseer is trying to find a clear route to Terra they talk about the winding paths deep in the warp. That whole section blew my mind when I read it. Maybe the (webway) pathways exist in the deep warp. The Old Ones were the ones that created them initially which were around before the warp was all churned up.
@TheLostPrimarch I don't think paths made in the deep warp can entirely erased. If that were the case, the emperor would have wiped out his great work in the webway and started over. He would never had to sit on the golden throne in perpetuity. Now it just links directly to the warp instead of the isolated webway. Somewhere out in the deep warp is where I would hide if I wanted to hide from any material or warp based sentient entities. No one would be dumb enough to try to survive in a place where the chaos gods will dare not go.
Emperor is the Warp entity that ancient Eldar tried to make a Pokemon out of back in thr days of War in Heaven, but this primordial embodiment of destruction/cleansing/creation through *fire* was not something Edlar psychology could handle and they banished it back into Warp and myth. Human shamans succeeded and avatar of senseless creation-destruction was born, utter extreme of humanity in all ways. "Beautiful eagle from hell who brings an end to all things", to paraphrase the Eldar mythos. The *Angel Exterminatus*. Emperor/Dark King doesn't bear the insignia of a two-headed eagle for nothing. Nor is he a puppet of the Four Principal Powers of Chaos. Kairos is a puppet, an impostor, a double agent of the Dark King in Tzeentch's palace. Emperor had 25 sons. 24 if you believe Omegon is but a shade of Alpharius and not a truly is independent actor. Four of these gene-sons were sacrificed on Molech to the Gods and Emperor tricked them, likely taking more than was bargained for. And what he bargained for were Lesser Gods of the Warp, concepts, enslaved to his will and shoved into bodies of his gene-sons.
If you really think about it doesn’t kairos technically see the present because if he can see what happened in the past that means he could see what happened 2 seconds ago and he could also see what will happen in 1 second
It is the deepest form of understanding. That what is "Incomprehensible." The warp reflects the nature of the living and its the psychic state of those alive which birth Gods. The deep warp is where failure of understanding can occur. The corpses of failed beliefs or muttering randomness so obscene that it is alien to "chaos" gods themselves which has shape and features. It is pure eternity for its "possibilities" are so endless that it is nonsensical, and that the deep reflection of our minds are beyond our reach it seems frightening. Urges and atavism so profound but yet seemingly spontaneous that there is no origin and reflects the midnight zone's own psyche into the depths of unrecognizable thoughts. We have to look at the warp like a dreamscape into our own psychology to understand it. The warp Gods are the idealized versions of our most profound beliefs and/or emotions. This is true of both chaos and Aeldari. The Gods personify aspects of our own psyche. So we can interpret or interact with them on a lucid level like dreaming when you are asleep, but there lies a whole other existence in our own minds. A reach we refuse to enter for there exist dark ideations beyond the madness of our dream where repressed intrusive thoughts dwell or cobbled ideas take blurry forms. It's where your dreams dream and cannot realize them. The Gods in the warp are far more static than living people for they are incapable of actualizing emotional/cognitive aspects beyond their station or function. Khorne cannot experience the zeal of perfect expressionism that Slaanesh can etc so Tzeentch cannot imagine or understand the unintelligible whimsy of psychic thought for only living beings are capable of multifaceted functionality and thus living or dead birth these distorted features of vague abstractions. We hardly do so alive. We repress these phantoms. Imagine an entire bottomless well of a collective repressed mind. The Chaos Gods are incapable of imagination. They are born of it. The red-shift of it. We birth it and that prospect is so boundless we can't fathom it ourselves. That's the deep warp. It isn't a graveyard of dead universes. It is the oblivion of comprehension.
As far as Gnosticism goes, the Deep Warp probably represents another older Chaos God, one of instinct, a primordial creator and destroyer. The current Chaos Gods are probably just the godly equivalent of kids playing with toys in the living room, while the Deep Warp is likely where Mommy and Daddy sleep.
One of the age old questions never to be answered is where did the Old Ones disappear to? Maybe whatever is on the other side of the warp is the answer. Maybe they found a way out.
THIS IS ALL EXPLAINED IN THE DARK FUTURE NOVELS in the the deep warp the "ancient ones" reside, they are the old gods gods to the chaos gods and they fear them.
Wild pitch: It's less that some parts of the warp are deep, and more that the warp bordering mundane reality is akin to the ocean water around a small bubble in a universe of water and little universe bubbles. It's not deeper into the warp, it's further from the limited stability of the surface of the tiny fragile bubble of our universe. And the Chaos Gods might be more limited yet, only able to feed off the residue of ensouled creatures that drifts to the 3d surface of the bubble around the miniscule spot that represents the milky way galaxy.
What if the deep warp is just another chaos god? Like it's a god that formed out of apathy so it just does nothing. A god that just does nothing but slowly accumulate power.
My theory is that chaos gods are just self sustaining turbulences. A good necron Blackstone in the face 'straightens' it out. Probably calculates how the vector field of emotions have to cancel each other to stop entity formation.
What if the Deep Warp is the Warp manifestation of the Tyranid’s dominance across the universe? We know the Tyranid’s “Shadow in the Warp” causes all kinds of crazy phenomena in the Warp. Now imagine galaxies upon galaxies of Tyranids surrounding a single chaotic galaxy.

I like this, nice one
So it's the warp's Jungian shadow?
"The deep warp is a place where self cannot exist. Imagine intelligence without self awareness. How alien that would be?" So, the aliens from Blindsight book?
So... The deep warp could be where the hive mind resides?
Knowing 40k lore this should be it

I think what it did to him, is send him to the end of Time itself, meaning, he somehow survives until the end of everything, and thus is why he alone has returned from the Well, because only he that has entered it, lives to that point to begin with. It would explain why his present mind is absent, but his knowledge of all history and all future are active. He lived all history, he lived all futures, but he himself was at the end of it all and the beginning, in order to make it so he can see all past events, and all future events. His present is never /there/.

How about the chaos gos nightmares and all of the deamon gods nightmares? The great garbage disposal os fear if you will.
The old ones left the main setting, probably to another galaxy, different dimensions, or most likely so far deep in the warp they set themselves up a separate kingdom untouched by the influence of gods or mortals the eldar traverse the webway undeterred mapped out
A firewall then. They are on the other side of the deep warp.
My two ideas:
A) it is an axis of increasing metaphysical-ness.
I can speculate, but in reality there is no eay of knowing
@@TheLostPrimarch There is a way to know. You just have to go there. If you survive long enough, you'll know what it used to be like.

Except for that John French, the writer of that story said:
____________________
"Daemons are not living creatures.
How cool is that?"

So there isn't a literal deep warp or even a literal well. It's all metaphor, written in a manner which we can't truly understand as with most things of the warp.

So how the hell did kairos make the trip? and since he did i wonder why the changer didnt go himself afterwards.. interesting stuff.

They are just self sustaining turbulences. A good necron Blackstone in the face 'straightens' it out.
The Deep Warp is perhaps what is referred to as the Time Vortex.
The deep warp is where the terrifying force known as “GW” resides 🤣👌
It's where our guitar picks and one half of a pair of socks disappeared to 😂
It’s the lost collective braincell of all orange cats, waiting for something to latch onto

Ive wanted more info on this since Id heard of tzeetch's experiments from kairos, thanks!
No problem, glad you liked it!
Send Lt. Kage, he would come back too.
My headcanon is that every human soul goes to the deep warp after death (if chaos gods gets one soul it is only the copy as explained in Aaron Dembski-Bowden's book) and are reincarnated in our world
Could the well of eternity also be a nexus where all possible demensions, creation, destruction etc converge into a singular point?
Very possible
Tzeetch: "Damnit, they just don't survive when i throw them in there." *looks at Kairos* "sorry bro, get in there"
This will be the subject of many late night conversations with my friends, thank you.
Entropy. What they find down there is the break down of everything into nothing, everything, pure potential, pure oblivion. That is the nature of pure chaos. All possibilities and no possibilities, so Entropy.
I believe that too
Personally I love the idea that when the emperor famously stole power from the gods in the warp, that he actually DIDN'T make any deal with any chaos gods.
They call the Master of Mankind "Anathema", and if he does take his power from the god of the materium which really IS the oppisot or anathama of Chaos afterall.

i think if Vashtorr becomes a full 5th god, he might have the advanced technology to create a "daemon-submarine" that can survive the "crushing depth of the abyssal zone"

The deepwarp is where you’ll find sonichu
Noooo
The question then is, are they still there or are they collapsed?
Such a Lovecraftian concept. Love it.
The deep warp leads to warhammer fantasy.
Great video! really appreciate this deep dive into such an unexplored topic.

Also what is the name of the first music you used?
