It might seem strange, but us, 90-s kids from India who watched the 1998 WC as the first World Cup, still remember Suker. He became our hero overnight as till then the only teams we knew and support about was Brazil and Argentina. Unfortunately as we didn't have the kind of streaming services we have now, I personally couldn't follow his career after the WC :( Still remember the Semifinal when France managed to beat Croatia at last......I think he played in the next WC also, and if I remember correctly he didn't play much in that WC.
Suker was worldwide star He was one of the goats of that era or any era tbh Brilliant striker You can’t be a football fan without knowing about Šuker I even know about Pršo Bišćan And Igor Tudor ( played in Juve and Liverpool ), Dario simic (Milan )and the Kovač brothers
Seedorf, Carlos, Georghe Hagi, Klinsmann, Ronaldo, Maradonna, Romario, Predrag Mijatovich, Kanu, Bergkamp, Henry, Ivan 'Bam-Bam' Zamorano all mentioned in a video about Davor Suker - man, those days was football!!!
It's Zagreb riots, not Belgrade riots, and a wrong Dinamo, that's Dynamo Kyev's crest. Also, he is not actually that despised because of Ustashi tendencies (it was a long time ago, in the 90s, the era of war, anarchy, and widespread casual nationalism, when that wasn't really a big deal in Croatia) but primarily because of being stupid, lazy, selfish, arrogant, gambling-addict, crime-overlooking president of the Croatian FA. And he is certainly not a millionaire anymore, the word on the street is that his love for gambling got him into some financial trouble
Those 15 goals in 11 games for Real Madrid impressed me the most. All minutes in WC, and scoring title...he had great teamates, competition for the first two attakers were stong. He scored alot when he feelt it was needed the most. So i like him as a player. For the other stuff about him i don't have a comment

Diego and Davor. What a combination. I know that Diego wasn't his '1986' self but that, to me, matters very little. They made little Sevilla fun to watch. Love both of those players.

i think he scored the best goal ever, by anyone. it was a dying seconds equalizer in the qualifiers for the euro 2000 against ireland in zagreb. a long ball was in the air for half the pitch length and when he touched it the ball was dead and he could do whatever he wanted with it. i've seen many goals that look more spectacular but i don't think many players could replicate what he did in that moment even if they practiced and he just did it, in stoppage time.
totally agree, those who played soccer know that such control is nearly impossible, and he did it so easily. However he replicated this several times, maybe not with such long ball, but still showing it was not just a coincidence
I agree with the quality of technique that Davor Suker displayed in scoring against Ireland in added time.He was a fantastic player who was blessed to have trained and played in the same team Diego 😊 Maradona
The 95-96 Real Madrid coached by Capello with Suker, Mijatovic and Raul as main forwards was a fucking legendary squad (Illgner, Panucci, Hierro, Alkorta, Roberto Carlos, Seedorf, Redondo, Amavisca, Raul, Suker and Mijatovic… ) What a team. Suker was truly fine technical Striker
I think his icon factor should be higher because his controversy was post retirement, and some people still recognize him as the most legendary Croatian even though Modrić was better for all he did for them. Even at Sevilla he solidified himself as a legend. Also I think he really was an icon striker of the time. Might be my bias as a Croatian though.
