I felt the exact same way about the tray and the pen. I was really disappointed in both when I opened everything. You get that exact same tray from Dreamer Designs as the free tray with the kit, except they’re purple. I did love everything else though and plan on giving a couple things to my youngest niece.
My 11 year old niece will be here for the holidays. The kitty cat canvas will be so perfect for her age. I agree, I’m not fond of the tray plus I try to stay away from trees with glitter, because I always think it’s a drill tag. And yes, you are right that is not the best looking pen but it’ll be perfect with the kitty cat pic or to give to someone that’s new to diamond painting not good for me, but would be an upgrade for them from the plastic one that comes in the kit.😬🤣
I finally got to your video, I totally agree. I love DAC, practically only order from them, but I think the advent calendar was a bit spendy, the pen and tray definitely could have been better crafted! I am so sad that I didn’t get to buy this set. I’m Snoopy crazy and I hope to be able to get the Snoopy one in the future but so far DAC hasn’t put it on sale ❤
How sweet are you to send off the kitty! I do think this was a bit overpriced this year for the contents. Maybe some metal multiplacers would have been nice in place of the tray.

I'm going to have to agree with you that it's overpriced I think I would like to take my money and build one which is something I'm seriously considering for this year building my own advent calendar and then rewarding myself with one of the goodies everyday.

For the price I think I would prefer to get 2 paintings of my choice. No disrespect, but I was so excited when I saw they were doing an advent calendar…until I saw the price. Now with the unboxing, there is no way I would pay $125 for this. Maybe $50 max. I’ve seen so many of the inexpensive china companies make coasters, stickers, pens, boats, etc for much less of a cost…and they look pretty much the same. If it were $50, I probably would have gotten it…but, I don’t really like “mysteries” in DPs, I don’t care for either painting, or the pen. I don’t tend to do little things like stickers or coasters (but agree that my nieces and nephews might enjoy them as an activity.) Anyway, sorry DAC, this is a hard pass for me.

I thought the same thing about the tray and it would have been really nice if the pin had some sparkle in it but I was really happy with everything

I am in Ireland and the price (including VAT and customs) was €158.95 for the calendar. I used my points to take $25 USD off.
