This was way back when Philippine pop music was called "OPM" and was mostly influenced by soul and R&B on one side, and live alt-rock and prog-rock bands on the other. Nina used to be popular around the turn of the millennium until around 2009. Nina does a lot of soul, and R&B, very chilled and introspective music. She's not a "birit queen"( the term for belters), but an accomplished and trained jazz and soul singer. Nina's style represents the tastes and sensibilities of the upper classes in the Philippines, and older-millennial Filipino audiences who aren't interested in the K-Pop influenced modern Philippine pop sounds. The kind of romantic soulful live band music that plays in a quiet, intimate candlelit rooftop bar at night in somewhere like Makati, BGC, or Ortigas (the 3 premiere skyscraper-filled uptown districts of Metro Manila). More of her stuff please! A similar Filipino singer but male would be Thyro Alfaro, a more jazzy singer would be Sitti, and other similar accomplished singers and groups from the same generation as Nina would be Kyla and South Border. I'd highly recommend all of them. :)
