An Eleanor Rigby story. Back in the day, my older brother had a friend that was something of an intellectual and poet. I play guitar and piano and had a bunch of Beatle music books. He was visiting, and the subject of the Beatles came up and he said the Beatles were crappy lyricists (admittedly some aren't that great). So I showed him some Beatle songs which I thought had good lyrics and he'd read them out loud. After a few songs I gave him Eleanor Rigby and he read the lyrics out loud, and when he got to the last line he sat there stunned for a second, and then he started telling me how beautiful the lyrics were and didn't stop raving in a very emotional way for the next five minutes , almost with tears in his eyes.
They have so many great songs!

Emily, you woke up many lost memories of my childhood when all I hear was what my elder sisters played on Reel or Phono.
God, how I was given double album (white album) when I was recovering from my surgery.
Those were the days.....
Not only the song but the memories...
I was 13 when this song primarily by Paul, but with some clear John influence came out. It is still one of my top 3 Beatle songs. George Martin's decision to double the string quartet was genius. The strings achingly and hauntingly parallel Paul's voice in one part, and I will never forget it. Excellent rendition Emily and you have also covered another of my top 3 Beatle songs, Strawberry Fields, which contains the same mystical element as Elenore Rigby. Thank you Emily!
Everything Emily does is wonderful. The piano accompaniment is spectacular. It is easy to listen to her over and over. Seems like she can sing any genre.
Beautifully transposed to piano. Figuratively speaking - the corners are slightly rounded - more melodic. I like it.
