Nearest Town:
To visit Ranthambore Fort and do Tiger safari, you have to come and stay at Swai Madhopur. Nearest Railway station is Swai Madhopur. Trains are available from various parts of the country to this place. There are more than 10 trains from Delhi and it takes around 4 1/2 hours.
Nearest Airport is in Jaipur which is 170 km by road and takes around 3 1/2 hours.
For stay, there are a wide range of accommodation in Swai Madhopur. Cheap lodges to luxury Heritage hotels. RTDC accommodations are standard yet affordable.
Safari:
Two types of vehicles are used jungle Safari. 6 seater Jeep and 20 seater Canter or open bus. Safari is done in the morning at 6.30 and afternoon at 2.30. Safari tickets can be booked online 90 days in advance. However, spot and current booking is also available. Better ask your hotel desk for booking. They will arrange through agents at a little extra cost.
Zones:
The entire Ranthambore forest has been divided into 10 zones for the purpose of Safari. Ticket can be booked for one zone at a time. During my visit in February 2024, zone 2, 3 & 4 were popular for sighting the tiger. Jeep is better for quick movement and less noisy.
