    Best ski comparison content in the game. This size ski is a quiver all its own, definitely worth the watch

      This would be an interesting concept--a series of individual short films focusing just on our skiing. Kind of like a what's in your quiver video but with Jeff, Bob, Emily, Matt, etc.

      @@SkiEssentialsNot sure if you got my reply to your question on timestamp for the "don't push on the uphill" comment I had made. I had actually made that comment on a totally different video, so wasn't sure how it ended up posted on your video. My apologies. I've deleted the post.

    I own a pair of MX75’s (and a pair od ZX100) and I find myself just standing there admiring the quality of the build sometimes. The attention to detail at the Kästle facrory when it comes to the MX-series is just mindblowing.

    The POV thru the trees and follow cam stuff is really good guys. Feels like skiing them.
    I have 3 of these in my quiver so love this category. Enf 88, Brahma and Dec 92ti. Tried the Kendo but didnt need it with the other 2 88s which I think ski each side of it feel wise, as you both suggested 😊
    All of these are absolute weapons.

      @myowngig ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @scollyutube So you either own or have test drove the skis on my short list. for reference I ski a Enf93 east 80% East coast, absolutely love them. Looking for a narrower ski with the same basic ski attributes. My preference order if I were to buy today would be 1.K88 2. Enf88 3. Dec92 (seems so fun) 4.Brahma I think is a little more GS which is not my style. Do you think I would love the K88 or other...Thanks!!

    • @scollyutube
      @scollyutube ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @myowngig Yes, I own them over here in NZ so similar conditions to East coast snow too. Coincidently I started with the Enf 93 (177) and loved them also. Thought it was the best ski I had ever been on at that stage so I know where you are coming from 😉
      I wanted slightly more feedback and a quicker edge to edge and took a risk and bought the then new Enf 88s (179) from these guys on sale. Now they are my most used ski. I'd definitely try them if you love your 93s as ski the same, just with the attributes of being narrower and still any type of turn at any time but even easier to carve. They still ski light new snow really well with that tip too. If you love your 93s, these will make you very happy I reckon.
      I have the brahmas (177) also as they are even more directional and super car like overall and interestingly arent the ball ache SE make them out to be to ski. Im 6ft and only 140lbs and they rock on piste in all conditions, esp hard pack first up.
      I bought the Dec92s (180) this year from SE again on sale, after skiing a whole day at Whistler this year on a mates and they were light, poppy and still reasonably strong with more turn initiation then my old Enf93s have for a similar waist width. I'll be selling the Enf93s now as these will replace them, leaving me with Enforcers at either side, I have Enf100s too for Japan and bigger snow days.
      Demoed the Kendo 88 just to see and for me it wasnt as fun as the Enf88 in turn shape variability, and wasn't as easy to go stupid quick on edge as the Brahma. It felt a bit planky with less feedback, so inbetween those 2. It felt more like its brother the Deacon 84 than an all mountain shape to me. Could be the 3 radius sidecut thing and I needed more time to get used to it, but not as intuitive straight up for me to ski as the others are. Maybe it was stiffer overall but I don't have an issue with the Brahma so....
      Hope that helps.
      Perhaps, a left field idea too, Declivity 88c for narrower, lighter and fun, although won't have the top end of the ones on your list.
      Good luck.

    Loving the draft format. I need to get back on a ski in this class, narrowest I have now is a prodigy 2. I grew up skiing on boards like this and I think that something in this category would be way more fun than those factions on true low tide days. Skiing in CA these days.

    • @mattclark1278
      @mattclark1278 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      They are SUPER fun - even out west here... My narrowest is a 98. Been on the 102-122 program for a decade now and that 88-92 feels so quick and easy, especially as they've taken the best of the rocker/camber/splay attributes off the wider skis...

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Even though it's on the carvy side, the Kendo has a whole lot to offer and makes a nice balance for more flexible and wider skis like the Faction. It creates an excellent perspective on different ski styles and applications.

    I'm torn between the 24' Rustler 9 and 24' QST 92. I am 5'10" 200lbs expert skier and ski mostly in central NY, VT & Maine. I like to do it all, park, bumps, trees, switch. I also dont ski fast and hate to carve and prefer to make lots of little turns. Any help picking between the Rustler 9 in 180cm or QST 92 would be appreciated.

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds like a QST skier to me. The Rustler prefers to carve and go faster more so than the QST. The Salomon is an incredibly versatile and useful ski for a huge range of skier, I'd go that route in the 176.

    Hey guys,
    fantastic review as always. I‘m looking to buy a new pair for the season, but i‘m a little lost right now. There are so much choices.
    I‘m an advanced skier, 5‘9“ and 160lbs. I mainly ski in europe, 80% on piste and 20% off piste. I love skiing narrow turns and hitting deeper snow/small bumps on the side of the piste.
    I‘m leaning towards the following skis:
    - Elan Ripstick 88 172
    - Salomon Qst 92 168
    - Armada declivity 88c 168
    I want a ski that‘s fun and reliable. It should be able to hold an edge on potentialy icy groomers and perform on crud/chopped up groomers on the afternoon.
    I‘d be very open to other recomendations as well.
    Thank you and keep up the great work.

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you're mainly on trail and do want some grip for firm snow, I'd narrow focus to the 88's. Of those, the Declivity is stiffer and more consistent from tip to tail so I'd look to that one first.

      Now that i’m here I might as well ask. I am in the market for a second ski. I currently have the 22’ blackops Sender and while it is fun in crud and as Blister says, great for precision and energy, I want something more laidback when I want to chill. I’m 5’9” 160 lbs and have been looking at the Serpo, Camox and have entertained the Mirus Cor, for that second pair of skis i can just have fun on and not need to feel dialed in to enjoy. If they were ever on sale I like the idea of J skis fastforward or the Masterblaster but he never likes to discount lol. Anything helps!! Thanks in advance and for everything y’all do.

    • @Gmonayy189
      @Gmonayy189 ปีที่แล้ว

      My skiing style gravitates towards working on my form in more of a finesse and smaller turns. I don’t charge often and enjoy a ski which doesn’t force me to be engaged 100% of the time.

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There's a lot in that range that'd suit your needs. I've had a lot of fun and success on the Elan Ripstick 92 and the Salomon QST 92 for these more laid back types of purposes. The best part is that you don't lose a lot of performance--they're still very capable skis. Serpo is more stiff and reactive, and Camox might have some width crossovers with your Sender.

    • @Gmonayy189
      @Gmonayy189 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SkiEssentials thanks for the insight! I’ll have to demo the qst 92’s them. I actually demoed the ripstick 96’s and they were too laidback lol. I’ll see how the qst’s are! Have heard amazing reviews of them for this application

  • @henryhebron5319

    Hey guys, great video. I would love to get your help and recommendation.
    I’m an experienced skier and I am looking for a ski that rips the piste. I love to ski fast and do long carves and short quick turns, but would also want a ski that gives me the ability to ski powder when conditions allow (like 20-30% of the time)
    I’m 5:10 and 80kg - bonus for versatility as I like to pop jumps around the mountain and practice switch every now and then. But I rarely ski park anymore due to a hip replacement, hence why this video attracted me.
    What skis should I take a look at? This will be my “get around the mountain” 1 ski quiver
    Appreciate you guys. Your channel rocks 🤟🏻

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, and I think you're in the right place with this category. It's tough to look past the Kendo when you're talking about ripping the piste and varying turn shape and styles. It's a decent soft snow ski, but nothing like the QST or the Blade Optic 92. For a bit more of a freeride/creative feel without losing too much when it comes to performance, I'd also take a square look at the K2 Mindbender 89Ti. Nice crisp carver with some more versatility built in as it's not full-metal like the Kendo.

    • @henryhebron5319
      @henryhebron5319 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SkiEssentials amazing, gonna take a look at them. The QST and Mindbender were on my list after watching this and I'm edging towards these. I am curious as to why you went for these options and the Kendo and Blade, over the Armada Decliovity 92ti and the Atomic Maverick 88ti? As they were also on my radar, or am I making the wrong choice with those 2? What would be the reason you didn't opt for them? Appreciate you guys

  • @Tirppa
    @Tirppa ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Best carver that doesn't completely compromise versatility? Mindbender 89Ti or Kendo 88 or something else? Also I tend to lean towards shorter radius than longer (15-17m) and would be nice if the ski works at lower speeds too. I have the Ripstick 88 but I miss the damping of metal in a ski. I also have the Stance 90 but the radius is just longish. So something in between those and the two I mentioned seem to stand out as "in between"

    • @patrion6028
      @patrion6028 ปีที่แล้ว

      KORE 87 is worth more than just a look imho. It works well on high edge angles and barely has a performance limitation, it's a phenomenal carver at this width. It's also easy to do quick skidded turns with. Depending on the length you're on, you're even going sub 15m (i had the 171 which had 14,3m). You can ski it at shallower angles and less speed as well, it doesn't require a certain speed to work. I only replaced it because i'm too light (55kg/120lb) and it took me a lot of work and energy to get it working, but i loved it to the moon and back for what it's offering. I got a Ripstick 88 last season and like that for different reasons, and i don't think it's a fair comparison to the KORE 87, in fact i think they are complementing each other very well.
      Thinking outside the box, the Mirus Cor is a great carver as well, but it's very different to everything else. I'll pull the trigger on that one this season to complement my Divus, Ripstick 88 and ZX 100, partly because i miss the short radius of the KORE.

    • @Tirppa
      @Tirppa ปีที่แล้ว

      @@patrion6028 I'm somewhat on the lighter side too at 70kg/155lbs

    • @patrion6028
      @patrion6028 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Tirppa That should work if you ask me. Give it a shot, maybe demo one if you have the chance. How tall are you?
      Another interesting contendor for what you're looking, and i'm a bit biased towards the KORE for above reasons, would be the M-Cross. Given the characteristics Jeff and Bob are pointing out, i wouldn't skew over that option.

    • @Tirppa
      @Tirppa ปีที่แล้ว

      @@patrion6028 I'm 175/5'9".. The M-Cross was on my list and it kinda does look like in a way Ripstick with metal under foot. But I'm afraid it doesn't hold up if I really wanna open up. I don't know if I'm looking for a unicorn in a ski that can be skied laid back but can handle speed and harder conditions if needed and can still also do some trees and shallow soft snow.

    • @patrion6028
      @patrion6028 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TirppaIt surely looks like the search for a unicorn :) If you're really looking for the best carver, the soft snow performance will always take a hit. If the radius is more what you're concerned about, and you're not looking for the very end of the spectrum of the performance, it might become a different conversation. I would not be hesitant to throw in the QST 92, as that ski hits a lot of what you're looking for and comes in a 15 m radius in the 176 length, which would be perfect for that ski and your hight.
      If the top end performance and the radius is something you look for and value over a the wide range and versatility of the QST, i'm sure you'll be very happy with a KORE 87 in 170cm. That will come in just shy of the 15m radius at 14,8, but the carving ceiling is just out of the world for your weight and height. At shallower angles, trees and a bit of soft snow won't be an issue, but the highlight will for sure be the on trail performance. If your're looking for 80 carving /20 rest, go KORE. If its 65 / 35 of even more towards the rest, i wouldn't recommend the KORE.
      Curious what @Skiessentials.com opinion is on the matter :)

      Thanks so much! For me to get one of these skis on this wall, I think I'd go with the Declivity 92 as a good mix of performance and friendliness. The QST 92 is tough to pass up but I think I'd like a little more carving.

    Really conflicted between the Armada Declivity 92 Ti and the Elan Rispstick 96 black edition, I like pushing my skis on piste but at the same type I enjoy having a more playful experience on the side of the trail and off piste, any tips would be much appreciated!

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's tough to argue against the Declivity vs. any ski, but the Black Edition is a good comparison. you'll get more responsive, smoother, and quieter performance out of the Armada in an on-piste situation. It doesn't feel as mobile in tighter spots as the Elan, but I think the tradeoff is worth it.

    Looking for some advice on a few skis here: Ripstick 88, Kanjo 84 and Blaze 86/82. I ski the Poconos groomed trails and I’m looking for something different than a typical carving ski, more like a freeride or all mountain that still does well on groomers. Want something that’s just very easy to ski, very maneuverable, playful, fun, whatever! I’m guessing the Blaze is the most maneuverable of these but may not be as good on the hard stuff? Your thoughts on these or any other ski to consider? Very strong intermediate, 5’10”, 200. Also, you guys really set a high standard with these reviews, very informative! Thanks

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you! I do think there's a special place for the Ripstick in this application in that it's so easy and fun to ski yet holds a very strong edge for its weight. The Blaze series is great, but doesn't quite have the polish of the Ripstick. Kanjo is right there, too, but there's something about how the carbon tubes in the Elan makes the ski jump into and out of the turns with ease and poise. I'd say the 180 in that ski is tough to beat.

    Hi Jeff - great comparison. I am a 5'11 90kg advanced skier with a Dynastar m-menace 90 at 180 length and 92 under foot, radius 27m. I am looking for something a better on the piste/carving and also a bit more manoeuvrable, but that maintains some off-piste ability. Currently deciding between the QST 92 and the Declivity 92, and potentially the '24 Fischer Ranger blue (92). Do you have any suggestions?

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The Declivity is the best carver on your list with a bit of off-piste capabilities. The QST is the most versatile. The Ranger doesn't feel as comprehensive as the other skis. I'd say decide if you want better carving (declivity) or better versatility (QST). Both are wonderful skis with slightly different applications and styles.

Next I am eyeing up a bigger 'all mountain' ski to make a 2 ski quiver and for the snowier days. Can't decide between the Black Crow Justis or Mirus Cor. What are the key differences between these two models? 5 ft 10, 182lbs, advanced but aspiring to be expert level skier. Thanks guys

    • @snowcat256
      @snowcat256 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mirus Cor is a playful groomer ski that loves to turn (even more than the Deacon), but I would never choose it for an all-mountain role. Definitely look at something in the 95-105mm range. Justis, sure. Declivity, Stance, Mantra, Ripstick - also good choices.

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  ปีที่แล้ว

      The Justis is a better complement to the Deacon 80--there's some crossover between the Mirus Cor and the Deacon in terms of what they prefer to do on the hill. Justis is still a surprising carver, but has the additional width and a good amount of tail rocker that allows it to be useable and a ton of fun in softer snow. The Justis also has a lot more directional of a shape and prefers to be used from tip to tail while the Mirus Cor prefers to be skied in the middle/central portion where there's metal a bit more.

    Love the reviews! I was wondering what noticeable differences are there between the qst 92 and qst 98? I cant decide which one to get.

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Other than width, the 98 has a lot more rocker, especially in the tail. The taper shape in the shovel is similar, while the tail of the 92 is more traditional. From a build perspective, the 98 uses cork in the tips and tails to smooth out the chatter, and that helps balance the excessive rocker and taper. The 92 doesn't need it because the tips and tails are closer to the snow. If you're not in soft snow most of the time, the 92 probably makes more sense overall. I LOVE that ski.

    Great videos! Curious how you'd compare the QST 92 to the Stance 84. I'm looking for something close to a do it all ski for the Tahoe area mostly on trail for an intermediate skier with ambition to get better.

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      If you are more in search of adventure in an off-piste realm, I'd go with the 92 as it has more dramatic taper and rocker that allow for great float and easy mobility in tighter spots. The Stance 84 is a cleaner and more energetic carver on groomers with some off-trail capabilities. The 84 is more of an on-trail ski while the 92 is more appropriate for off-trail.

    Hello guys! Great review for the 90 mm skis! I would like to ask you for an advise. I am from Europe and I am mostly skiing in Switzerland, 60% on-piste, 20% steep downhill, 20% powder. I am an intermediate to advance skier and I am very confuse and can't take a decision between the following skis, all of them look very nice and have nice characteristics:
    -Atomic Maverick 88ti or 95ti
    -Atomic Bent 90 or 100
    -Salomon qst 92 or 98
    -Dynastar M Free
    -Black Crows Captis ( or another models if you have any better recomandation )
    -Armada ARV 94
    I prefer the floaty feel and the skis to be playful under my feet, being able to do short fast turns. However, for the moment I don't have any thought to go in the park with the skis. I would like some skis that are doing a little bit of carving but being floaty under foot, being able to go in the powder without problems, and to ski the steep mountains without being worried about the skis. Mostly I am searching for a ski to have fun with, I tried the atomic x9s and they are not my style, being very stick to the ground.

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  ปีที่แล้ว

      Mixing floaty, playful, and quick turns, I think the QST 92 makes a lot of sense. Captis and ARV 94 are great choices--one on either side of the 92 in terms of width, but the 92 really does a great job of handling a lot of different things and checking a lot of boxes.

    Hi Geoff and Bob, thanks again for excellent review - the best on the net. I just sold my Stockli Stormrider 88s and I am torn between the Armada Declivity's 88 C and 92 TI, the Dynastar M-Cross 88 and the salomon Stance 90. I will ski 80/20 piste/off piste, but sometimes the piste is pretty messed up with crowded slopes and other times 6" of new snow if its snowed overnight, since the piste bashers don't piste then. I am just under 6", 190 lbs I'd say advanced/expert (ex Army skier), but in my 60s now so not racing anymore :-) - I like to carve when pistes allow, and do short turns on the side of piste when its crowded. Where would you advise me to lean amongst those please - I did like the Stocklis, but making a change - for now anyway. Warm Regards, Nigel

      Thanks Nigel!
      I have a huge soft spot in my heart for the Declivity 88C. Even at 6/2 225, I've been super impressed with the ski' and it's ability to make shorter carved turns which I love to do. The 92Ti has more power, but maybe doesn't line up with more moderate speeds. I had a great time on M-Cross and Stance but really feel like the 88C is an overlooked ski.

    • @SkiEssentials

      I'd go with the 180 in this ski. If you go longer, it is very demanding. I think that due to the burly build of the 88, you can size down comfortably as the stability and power are built in.

    I’m a 75kg/165lbs 5ft 8in male skier. Like to carve wide on the slopes mainly and ride switch, little play in the park l, not off piste, and reasonable skier. Prefer riding with twin tips. Would the Volkl Revolt 86 or Salomon QST or Stance be better, or somemething else. I feel the 90+ skis are too wide for piste and I’ve always ridden TenEighty skis that are 80 under foot.
    What would you recommend as a good ski for me? Short turn radius would be nice 14-16 maybe?

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  ปีที่แล้ว

      You're looking for a pretty rare combination here--more of a commentary on the market today than anything else. You can get a Head Oblivion 84 twin tip, but it has a long radius. Same with Revolt 86. Twin tips don't get that interesting/versatile until that 90mm threshold, at which point you're opening up a lot of possibilities. Atomic Bent 90, Elan Playmaker 91, Black Crows Captis, Line Tom Wallisch Pro, or Armada ARV 88 are all right up there with the top performers. I think you'll either have to sacrifice a narrower waist or a short radius to get what you are looking for.

    I am thinking of switching to the Armada Declivity 88c, 92ti or the Black Crows Serpo.
    I have tried the Armada Declivity 82ti @ 174cm and it felt amazing but a little short compared to the Navigator @ 186cm, but that is something I wouldn't probably noticed if I hadn't compared them one after the other, idk

      If you liked the overall feel of the Declivity 82, I'd say the bump to the 92 would be right on the money in the 180. Serpo in 180 is a great choice as well, it's a slightly more energetic and poppy and somewhat louder version of the Declivity, which we find to be very quiet and smooth.

      It sounds to me like you're leaning to the quieter and more stable Rustler. The Maverick is pretty stiff for how light it is and that usually does not indicate stability. Rustler, though, has a denser feel to it while still remaining playful due to the rocker and splay of the tips and tails. I'd lean to the Rustler.

      Pretty close split among the staff. I'd say that everyone likes Declivity while most like Stance. We had a great time on the Maverick 88 last year--it was nice to put in some extra time on that ski in our VT early season. The Enforcer is still the heavier and stiffer of the two, so if you like that smooth, damp, and powerful feeling with no chatter whatsoever, the Enforcer is amazing. For a slightly more manageable and mobile ski, the Atomic makes a lot of sense, and still keeps the precision carving levels at a maximum.

      Love the iKonic 84! It was one of my first reviews here at SE back in 2017: th-cam.com/video/LPRAjYT9gV0/w-d-xo.html
      For an update, the Kendo will feel more similar--very carvy but with some fun built in. Kore is a different style of ski with a very light weight and a very stiff flex. The precision of the Kendo matches that of the K2, but with some extra width, rocker, and roundness for more off-piste versatility.

    Is the Mpro 90 like a lighter enforcer 88? Similar shape? How much groomer performance is lost in the mpro 90 vs the enforcer 88?
    Thank you!

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  ปีที่แล้ว

      Kind of but not really. The Enforcer is more of a traditional build with a dense wood core and two sheets of metal. The M-Pro has a modern hybrid core consisting of a central spine of wood and polyurethane material on the outsides. M-Pro also has a single layer of titanal on top that is full width underfoot and almost through the tail. The shovel is where the skis are the most different as a result, as the M-Pro has less/zero metal in the very front and a longer rocker profile and a less tapered shape. This makes the Dynastar easier to maneuver and initiate turns, especially in softer snow while the Enforcer prefers to hook in to the carve and bring you right through. The tails are both stiff and responsive, it's mainly the front third of the ski where we see the biggest difference.

Every day I'm more and more interested in doing off piste if the conditions allow me to do so, but in Switzerland that doesn't always happen, so I'm looking for versatile skis on which I can progress my technique on piste but above all that are suitable for off piste and improve my technique there if the conditions allow me to do so. it's tough to look past something like the Volkl Kendo for your application. Very stable and smooth at speed but also has versatility and a nice short turn radius. I'm a Santa Ana 88 172 owner, I went with the SA because I wanted more versatility for moguls and packed out trees. I have to ski it slower because it's not stable at high speeds, I would need more ski. That being said, I'm looking at the Enforcer 88, I've already skied it. my concerns are it's heavier, it's stiffer, so I would be giving up some versatility, but the gain would be more stability at speed. It's a tough call as to which ski to purchase. I need a new SA but I also want the Enforcer strength at speed. What to do?

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  ปีที่แล้ว

      There's not a whole lot in between the two, but I'd at least check out a Volkl Kendo/Kenja (same ski) for comparison. I've often found that if you're worried about leaving performance on the table to opt for the stronger ski so you never feel regret about getting the lesser ski.

    I ski with a group of guys who are all in our late sixties, and we all ski 50 plus days a year. All of us travel to out-of-town resorts but ski mostly on our home hill. We all have different models of Nordica Enforcer. I have an older 93 model that I call my SUV ski and the 100. I also have a Head I-Titan for carving on groomers and bought last summer a 22-23 Blizzard Rustler 11 for powder days (I really like this ski). I also bought last summer a 20-23 Nordica Enforcer 88 that I just love. I easily skied this ski more than any other pair. Our local hill has just been open on weekends this month, April and I am skiing the 88. I think it is a little quicker ski than the Enforcer 93. What I like about the Enforcer 88 over the Head I-Titan is its versatility. I think the 88 does a little bit better on the ungroomed runs that become pretty fun to ski after the sun warms them up just a little this time of year. These skis have no problem going all over the mountain on new snow days of 1-3 inches. Anything more than that I would probably ski on my Enforcer 93s unless it was a really good dump of say 6- 8 inches or more and I would then ski on the Blizzard Rustler 11. In the past when traveling by plane I have always taken my Enforcer 93 ski. Now depending on the snow forecast I probably will take either take the Enforcer 88 or the blizzard Rustler 11.

    Which of these ski would you say is the best in the bumps for a powerful skier who skis a bit like your ex coworker Matt? I feel like its between Dynastar M-pro 90 and Stockli Stormrider 88.

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The Dynastar is great for powerful skiers because it has a supportive tail. Stockli is similar in flex, but it's less tapered so it's more catchy in the bumps. I'd rather ski the M-Pro. Also love the K2 in the bumps a whole lot in this segment.

      I'm about 100kg and find the 87 to be more twitchy than my 93's. I'd go 93 if you want to go narrower in the Kore--I feel the 87 is too narrow for this ski's build for people our weight.

    Qst92 vs qst98 vs stance 96? I Ski out west (whistler, stevens, mt baker) also any reccomendations for length I'm 5'7 approaching advanced level

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The 98 is by far the floatiest of the bunch due to the extended taper shape and rocker profile. If you find yourself in deeper or softer snow most of the time, that's a fantastic choice. The 96 is sturdier and a better carver, while the 92 is quicker and poppier for mostly on-trail skiing but also is great in bumps and packed trees. I think the 98 is the way to go if you ski in the PNW as it seems like soft snow is a majority.

      They're pretty fun! There are some limitations, but if you're a skilled skier you can pretty much make them do everything. For more of a directional performance, you should mount them further back than the line indicates--maybe a -4 in order to unlock the versatility. I loved them in short, round carved turns, and while there's some heft to the ski, it feels great in softer snow, trees, and bumps.

    At 185cm, 200lbs, strong and quite athletic, do you think the brahma 88 would suffise in 177cm? Or would 183cm be a better length? I know it’s personal preference, but stillnot sure which one to pick

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think it's okay to go a bit short on these skis. The 183 is still right there at head high for you. If you want to tap into the shorter turning potential of the ski the 177 is a good way to go. For longer and more drawn out carves, plus the added weight and stability, the 183 will do better.

  • @szuber42
    @szuber42 ปีที่แล้ว

    Can you compare the black crow to the declivity

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      More similarities than differences between the 92 Ti and the Serpo. The Black Crows has a bit more of a directional mentality to it, with a flatter and more squared-off tail versus the rounder and slightly spoonier shape of the Declivity. If you're on trail more, the Serpo has a wonderful energy to it, not that the Declivity doesn't, but it really stands out in terms of rebound and pop with the Serpo. I'd say the Declivity is a bit more versatile and functions better in crud, chop, and other messy snow conditions.

    Hi guys, I live in Europe and going to be living in Andorra for the ski season and wanted to get myself a pair of solid all mountain skis as I tend to ski about 80/20 on/off piste as well as hit a few jumps and bumps on the sides of runs and venture into the park at times. I do like to carve and hit high speeds and was hoping for any suggestions on a pair of skis that can just about do all of the above. Ranger vs stance?

    • @SkiEssentials

      The Stance has better tip to tail consistency and energy. While the Ranger has a strong underfoot zone, it's not as engaging in the tips or tails, putting the Stance a bit higher on the carving perspective. Off-trail and in softer snow, the Ranger holds up pretty well, but overall, the blend of pop and composure of the Stance is more satisfying and rewarding.
