The seat belt cover is much more difficult to pull up than shown in this video. There is also another bracket on the vertical interior panel that has to be lifted with an additional nut removed, also not shown.
Thank you for your feedback! Unfortunately, each car requires a particular replacement and everything depends on a technical condition of car parts units. Our videos are informative as to replacement sequence, and it's always up to you how to replace a car part. Best regards, Autodoc.
Do you have to remove the shock mount? Can you just undo the big screw at the top (leaving the two smaller screws) and pop the new shock in without having to remove the whole assembly?
You are right. Your option is theoretically possible, but this way may make the reinstallation of the shock absorber harder and won't let to check the condition of the shock mount.
+autodoc.co.uk Having now replaced it, I understand why it can't be done. The bolt needs to be clasped/held to allow the big bolt to be tightened. This is very difficult to do in the boot. Hence why it is better to remove the whole shock mount and replace the shock away from the car. Hardest thing I found was cracking that lower bolt where the shock is attached to the trailing arm. It was so hard to remove due to road salts and rust. Ended up having to pay a small guy to get under the car and crack the nut with a breaker bar!!
Nice video but there are some bad practices here. 1.Suspension bolts need to be torqued to specs with car on ground. 2. Lower shock bolt was not perfectly aligned with carrier before impacting, easily crossthreaded. 3. Using xenon bulbs on headlights without magnifier lenses in not cool, or legal.
Thank you for the feedback! Of course, the final tightening of the suspension elements should be carried out under full load on the axle, alignment of the bolt should also be carried out as you said and to aviod the dazzle of the drivers of oncoming vehicles, of course, one should use lenticular optics in the case of xenon illumination. The video is informative and shows only the general principles of the constitution and the operation of the car and it is in no way to be taken as a manual for repair and maintenance. Best Regards, Autodoc
And I think I saw a grain of sand on the floor that could cause you to slip and hit the lift lever and squash a customer dead. People it's a video that helps a lot of people now if you want to show off what great mechanics you are start your own channel.
@@MartinThePanda If you don't give a shit about your car, doing a proper or half decent job, your money and sometimes your life, sure torquing the bolts to spec is bullshit. If you'd go to a mechanics school, engineering or take some metallurgical classes or study the subject matters you'd understand why not torquing to spec is the actual bullshit.
Besides failing to torque the bolts to spec; Also the rsm gasket which was falling appart was not replaced and the rsm self-locking nuts where not replaced either. Also as per manufacturer's instructions, the lower shock mounting bolt has to be replaced when changing the shocks. And for the purpose of this video, it was incomplete as it doesn't show how to access the rsm on the opposite side, removing the trunk electrical plug etc. This is more a video on how to do a superficial, potentially dangerous job of changing the rsms.
Thank you for your feedback ! You are absolutely right - this video is informative and it is in no way to be taken as a manual for repair and maintenance. We always recommend that you carry out the replacement at the Car Specialized Service. Best regards, Autodoc.

Just out of curiosity, the new damper came with a washer in the box, but this was not used during fitment and I wondered why?
Very comprehensive, have to do this job so great.

does it metter which side of the shock goes near the wheel ?
Thank you for your feedback!
Depending on the car, however, in this case, there is no side value.
