I just have to thank you. My Granny lived in East Point in 1944 when her husband was in the Army. She was saying today that she wondered what it looked like, and then I come to TH-cam and you made a video. Thank you so much.
So much of EP was left out, but I kid you not, every second of this video brought back memories. Brought tears to my eyes once you got over there near semmes st and whatnot. Even saw my grandmas old abandoned apartment building standing strong off main st. It was a little glance, but I saw it. :)
In the '60s, there was a drive-in theater at the corner of Cleveland Avenue and Stewart Avenue (now Metropolitan Parkway)...my oldest son was born at South Fulton Hospital in 1993...
This is a good vid. I actually live really close to East Point, little outside of the city limits into ATL. Going down main street was great, since now i don't have to leave the house to take MARTA there
if you only knew our history....uncle gus thornhill was the first bl policeman, later he is the major shaker of east point today...rip uncle thornhill...cfy
This video start off in Atlanta until he passes Popeyes on the right….. smart man not to drive thru the hoods…. I lived all of East Point most of my life
They’ve cleaned it up so much though. I spent most of my childhood there in 90s And early 00s. Was pretty bad then. However, I know the train stops between there and downtown are probably still very bad. Especially like around west end.
East point the most dangerous part of GA I’m in Marietta and it’s still dangerous here but east point makes Marietta look like a suburb but still don’t recommend walking around Marietta at night i was chased hella times

The first 3.15 minutes is in the city of Atlanta. I retired from the City of East Point. Best retirement plan in the state.
The first 3 minutes is actually Atlanta, spent most of my life there.
Another great "dog days of summer" video. I was glad to come along.
Thanks. More to come!

Went by here today on Marta. Terrible area. Very ghetto, just like much of the Marta train areas of Atlanta. Sad.
